Melody’s POV

~Dream~

I open my eyes and replace myself not in bed with Luca anymore. “What the hell?” I say in a whisper, but it echoes through the darkness as if I had yelled at the top of my lungs. ‘Artemis, do you know where we are?’ I asked, but heard nothing in reply. ‘Artemis?’ I called to her again. ‘This isn’t funny.’ I snapped at her but was still met with silence.

“Melody.” I heard a gentle voice call out to me. I turned and was met with a grateful woman. She kind of looked like an older version of me. Except her hair was more silver than white and her blue eyes were paler than mine. She felt familiar. Like this was not our first time connecting. I felt calm and protected as if I was just with my mama. “Moon Goddess?” I asked.

She smiles and nods. “I have waited a long time for you, my sweet princess.” She said as she then sat under a silver cherry blossom tree that seemed to appear out of nowhere. She patted her lap, I took that as a sign to lay my head in her lap like I used to do with mama. Once my head was in her lap she caressed my hair. Running her fingers all the way to the ends and then starting over.

“Why me?” I was no one special. Sure I was the daughter of triplet alphas, but that doesn’t make me any different than the other girls of my pack. The Moon Goddess giggled. “See that is what makes you special, my dear.” I looked at her in confusion. “You were born into a place of power and you always keep yourself grounded to those under you. You put yourself into their position and see the story from their side before you pass judgment.” “But that is what an alpha and a luna are supposed to do. They are the fathers and mothers of a pack.” I interrupted.

I snapped my mouth shut when I remembered who I was speaking to. She just smiled at me. “You are so pure of heart that you always want to give others a chance to do right, even when most think you are being foolish.” she smiled and continued to run her fingers through my hair. “That is why I chose you the day you were born to be my little Moon Princess.” I shot up and spun around to look at her. “Wait what? The Moon Princess is just a legend. I am so not qualified for that kind of title.” I said waving my arms in front of me.

The Moon Goddess just continued to smile at me. “I know it is a big responsibility, but I placed my faith in you, but time is not on your side, my child.” “What?” She became serious, but still had the kindness in her voice and eyes.“The dead line between me and my siblings is fast approaching. You have until the summer equinox. You need your other mates before any of you can mark each other. Please trust in your wolf and replace them. Protect my children.”

Then just as quickly she had appeared before. She and the silver cherry blossom tree had disappeared. I looked all around, but saw nothing but the darkness I had woken up in. Then the floor I was sitting on just vanished as well and I fell deeper into the darkness.

~Dream Over~

I woke up with a jump. My body had felt weird as if I was being a daredevil and cliff jumping. I was surprised that I didn’t wake Luca up with me jumping.

(*Note: For readers that don’t know what cliff jumping or cliff diving is… It is when daredevils will jump off high cliffs into water. Like bungee jumping without the bungee cord.*)

I took a deep breath to steady myself, then I tried to speak to Artemis again. ‘Artemis?’ I called. ‘Yes?’ I sighed in relief when I heard her voice in my head again. ‘Girl don’t leave me like that again.’ She huffed. ‘What craziness are you talking about. I never left you.’ She sounded just as confused as I was in that dream. ‘Oh boy Artemis. I have a lot to ask about this dream I just had.’ She seemed to perk up a bit. ‘Oh gossip. Shoot girl, don’t keep me in suspense.’ I rolled my eyes.

Talking like this was like the only time Artemis and I felt like stereotypical teenage girls. So I got out of bed without waking Luca up and went to the bathroom. I decided to take a relaxing bath. While soaking in the tub, I told Artemis all about the dream I had and that the Moon Goddess said she had chosen me to be the Moon Princess and that I had until the summer equinox to replace my other mates. I thought she would joke with me like I was with myself, but Artemis got quiet and serious.

‘Melody. This is why we were born and why we are just as powerful as alphas.’ Artemis answered. I was shocked again. ‘You knew?! You knew this whole time that we had this kind of destiny and you never told me?!’ I practically yell in my head. She sighed. Like she was expecting this reaction. ‘Yes, I knew. But I could not tell you until we found our first mate.’ I couldn’t believe this. Artemis actually kept a secret from me? We were one, two souls but one body. ‘Mel please under-’ I cut her off by throwing up a mental block.

This was the first time I ever blocked my wolf. Artemis was more than just my wolf side. She was someone that I couldn’t live without, but I need a bit to myself and I need to speak with our parents and their wolves. I get out and dress for the day. I know papa said they would have a banquet tonight, so I just threw on some comfy shorts and tank top. I gave Luca a soft k**s on his temple before leaving the room. Since it was still kind of early, and I knew my parents would still be sleeping, I went out to the garden and climbed a tree.

Once in my little perch, I closed my eyes and focused on my parent’s wolves. I opened my eyes to see that I was now in a nice open field that was filled with wildflowers. The sun was shining bright, yet it was still nice and cool. This was what I called my space. When I meditate or just wanna speak to my parents’ wolves I come here. “Is something wrong, my little moon?” A voice comes from behind me. I turned and saw three large identical white wolves and one slightly smaller black wolf.

They were laying around in a little dog pile. I called mama’s wolf ‘mother’ and my dads’ wolves the same from what I call them. Dad for Fang/Leo, Daddy for Lucifer/Zero, and Papa for Loki/Hero. Each of my father’s had their head resting on my mother, but kept their eyes on me. I walked over and placed my forehead against my mother’s. “Mother, did you know that I was chosen?” I asked.

I felt her breath deeply then she licked my cheek. “Yes we did, my little moon. But we could not say anything until you found your first mate, and you met with the Moon Goddess.” She said. I pulled away to look at them. “But why me? Does mama and the others know?” Dad stood up and walked over to me. “No, they don’t. No one was to know before you and no one besides you is to know until you replace your other mates.” “What?” “Telling our humans would cause panic in them. Being the Moon Princess puts a very big target on your back.” Papa said.

“Even more so than being a female alpha?” I asked. I mean the only reason dad and daddy never really wanted me to ever leave the pack’s territory was because a few rogues have come to try and kidnap me just for being an alpha’s daughter. It got a bit crazier when others learned that my wolf was also a female alpha. Even some rival packs had tried to set me up with their heirs for power. “Yes dear, so please do not be mad with Artemis. She had come to us countless times because she felt horrible keeping it from you.” Mother said as she nuzzled me.

I thought for a moment, then I lowered my mind block on Artemis. She appeared in the field with us. She looked at me and wagged her tail. Next thing I knew I was knocked over by my own wolf that was whimpering and nuzzling into my body for comfort. “Oh Mel, I am so so sorry for keeping a secret from you. Please never block me again?” I could feel all the regret and sadness she was feeling since I blocked her. I was so stupid. Even if I had no one else in the whole world, I had Artemis. She would always be there for me.

I wrapped my arms tightly around her neck and hugged her close. “I should be apologizing. You were only following the rules and I was being a bit of a brat. I’m sorry for being upset and blocking you.” I said, with my face in her neck. After a while I pulled back from Artemis’ neck and sat next to her. “So how are we supposed to replace our other mates and who all can we tell about this ‘Moon Princess’ thing?” I asked.

“To replace your mates… you and Atemis must concentrate hard through your gift, that should give you the idea of where to look no matter how far away they are from you.” Daddy said. “As for who you can tell… you can tell anyone now, but I suggest you only tell those you absolutely want to know.” Dad said. “Though in my opinion, your brothers and Luca should be able to help you more, but your father’s humans might get too over protective more than they are now.” Mother said. I nodded and turned to Artemis.

“Well before we decide who we tell and who we don’t tell. How about you and I try to replace our next mate?” I asked. Artemis jumped and howled in delight. She then placed her head against my forehead. “Now focus on what the mate bond’s pull felt like when you caught Luca’s scent. That is the feeling you need to feel again.” Dad said. I focused on the feeling of the mate pull. Then I started to see some images. I focused harder on the feeling, the more clear the images became.

I saw images of lighthouses on wonderful cliffs near the ocean and so many different kinds of boats. Then more images of ice covered mountains and a huge palace. Then Artemis and I got too tired and lost the connection, everything went black. I opened my eyes and I was back in the garden, breathing heavily. I pulled out my phone from my pocket and scrolled through the internet for landmarks close to what I saw. I stopped when I found that same lighthouse on a cliff that I saw was in Maine, USA. ‘So one of our mates must be in Maine.’ I said to Artemis.

Then I looked up big palaces online. It took longer than the lighthouse, but I found the same palace. It was the Alexander Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia. ‘Damn… one of our mates is in Russia. That is pretty far.’ I said. Artemis purred. She had a huge thing for the Russian accent. Well now I just got to figure out who can help me replace my next two mates.
