Episode 26

Terrance’s POV

I felt useless and heartbroken as I saw my little sister passed out in her hospital bed. I was sitting in a chair on her right side and Ethan was sitting on her left. The doctor had hooked up a transfusion tube to each of Melody’s arms and attached one to me and one to Ethan. “Normally I would do one at a time, but she was in such need of b***d I figured you both wouldn’t mind being hooked up at once.” The doctor said after we were just now sitting and watching our b***d flow into our pale baby sister. “We don’t mind and if we could give her as much as she needs.” Ethan said.

The doctor smiled. “Okay, well normally only one pint is drawn from someone, but since you both are werewolves and alphas… we can try two pints each, but I will not put you two in any danger.” She spoke in a gentle voice. She kind of reminds me of Anthony. Talking to us like we are normal people instead of wolves. Most wolves and vampires can never see past the long standing feud between our kind. The worst part is, I think so much time as passed that no one really knows how this stupid war between vampires and werewolves started. ‘Well maybe some vampires know. They live a lot longer lives than we do.’ Thor said in my head.

‘Oh glad to see you talking. I thought you were going to be mopping the whole time.’ I joked. Thor humps and rolls his electric blue eyes at me as I let my mind sink into nothingness to talk with my wolf. ‘Like you have said anything to Ethan since we came in here. You haven’t looked up from our sister’s body to even check on him.’ Thor half snapped at me. I internally sigh and facepalm myself. He was right. When things go this bad I close myself off. Hell Melody handles bad situations better than me. ‘Some alpha I am huh?’ I asked Thor. Thor was the only thing that made me a real alpha. He was more than a wolf to me, Thor had become like another brother and best friend to me. He keeps me from falling into depression or self pity when things go wrong. My wolf sighs and nuzzles me with his big snout.

‘There is more to being alpha than just strength and courage. A good alpha needs compassion and trust, along with a level head. The reason you and Ethan make a good team is because you complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses.’ I sigh. ‘But Ethan is always so put together in situations like this. I just shut down.’ ‘That is okay. Big brother can handle the hard stuff for you.’ Ethan’s teasing voice came into my head. ‘What the-” I half shouted and then saw Ethan and Apollo materialize in my headspace. I throw a stink eye look at Thor. ‘You opened up our mind to Apollo didn’t you, you sneaky mutt.’

Thor and Apollo both just give a wolf chuckle. The elders think that when mom and uncle Alex repaired their twin bond with a b***d bond, it made mine and Ethan’s twin bond stronger. Even our dads can’t communicate with each other’s wolves like Ethan and I can. All their wolves have to be connected to Mel for them to communicate like this. Ethan came closer and put me in a headlock. ‘Ack! Hey let me go.’ I whined. Ethan just laughed. ‘Not until you stop pouting.’ I struggled and then we both just started laughing.

‘Okay, okay. You win.’ I said through my laughter. Ethan let me go and grinned at me. ‘That’s right, big brother wins again.’ he said while doing a weird pose. I roll my eyes. Ethan looks at me. ‘Terrance we complete each other perfectly. Your heart is just as big as our little sister’s. If people were to compare the two of us I would be the cold heart alpha and you would be the sweet one.’ I laugh a bit more. ‘Your not cold hearted. You are just more cautious, like dad.’ I teased and Ethan looked mocked hurt. ‘Oh dear brother you wound me.’ Then we both burst out laughing.

After our laughter died down. Ethan placed both of his hands on my shoulders and looked me in the eyes. ‘Terrance, I know how you feel, but listen…’ I closed my eyes and listened. I heard the machine that was beeping to the rhythm of Mel’s heart and her light breathing. ‘Mel isn’t leaving us and I know it is hard not to feel useless, but remember she is strong. She is an alpha in her own right.’ Ethan said, while placing a hand on my shoulder. ‘I know she is strong. She has always been strong. She is even stronger than us. She was the one that made friends with a vampire before any of us. Mel is amazing, but it just hurts.’ Ethan nodded as I rambled.

‘Do you know why Melody is so strong?’ Apollo asked us. We both turned to him and shook our heads. ‘It is because of the love she has for those around her.’ Thor answered. Apollo nodded his giant wolf head. ‘Melody and Artemis both work hard to be strong enough to protect those that can’t protect themselves. They push their limits every time they train.’ Apollo said. ‘And they have so much love in their heart for all of the Moon Goddess’ children that is why they were chosen to be the Moon Princess.’ Thor added.

‘So even though we don’t like it much… We need to stand by our little sister and allow her to make her own path out of this whole thing.’ Ethan said, squeezing my shoulder a bit. I gave a small smile. ‘Thanks guys. I feel a little better.’ Ethan smiled. Thor and Apollo gave small howls. ‘Now let’s go see what we missed.’ Ethan said as he closed his eyes and Apollo and Ethan disappeared from my sight. I closed mine too, letting my mind come back to the real world.

Ethan’s POV

Coming back to reality from giving my little brother a pep talk. I saw hope and life glimmer back through his eyes. ‘You and Terrance will make the perfect alphas to take over Raven Moon when the time comes.’ Apollo said in my mind. ‘Yeah. I think so too, but I think we both got lucky to have such amazing wolves like you and Thor.’ Apollo nodded his big head. ‘Well Thor and I are pretty cool, but our whole life is a team effort with our humans.’ I smiled at that. It felt nice being on good terms with my wolf. I have heard from my dads and grandpa that when they were my age they were constantly at war with their wolves. Both sides wanted to do things their own way. Such was the same story I hear from other alphas or soon to be alphas.

I looked over at my little sister. Her color returned and she just looks like she is just sleeping. “Okay let’s see how you three are doing.” The doctor came back into the room. She checked on Mel’s vitals first. “Well she is doing better now, so we can unhook you both and just let her and her wolf rest. You two will need a good meal and rest as well.” She smiled at us. I felt a weight off my shoulders. Just as she was unhooking the tubes from our arms, there was a knock on the door. The royal vampire from before poked his head inside. “Are we allowed to come in now, Doctor Anna?” He asked.

Doctor Anna turned to look at him. “Are you and that other werewolf going to play nice? Because she is still in no condition to play referee with you two.” she said sternly. I thought she would be scared to be so blunt to a royal vampire. “We are ok now. A few answered questions, but just worried about Melody. We wanted to see how she was doing, so can we come in, sis?” Oh, that explains it. If Anna was his sister, then yeah she can tell her brother off. I snickered a bit as he was begging his sister to come back into the room.

“Fine you can come in, but if you or Mr. Alpha starts any drama and causes my patient to be hurt in any way, shape, or form… I will kick both of your asses out and ban you from setting foot in the clinic until she is realised. Understood?” She said in a definite ‘mom’ tone. Her brother threw his hands up in surrender. “Yes Anna, we will be on our best behaviour. Now how about you go spend some time with the girls and Robert?” Anna sighed and turned to me. If things get out of hand here, push this button here…” she said as she pointed to a small blue button. “It will alert me personally and I will be back ASAP.” She said with her normal kind smile. “Will do boss, and thank you again for helping our little sister.” I said, as I started to stroke Melody’s silky hair.

“Oh it was my pleasure. She protected my daughter first, and as a mother I will never be able to repay her for that.” Terrance lightly chuckled. “She would be satisfied with knowing that the little girl was home with her family, safe and sound.” he said. Anna smiled and turned to leave. With Luca and Zezar coming into the room with Anna’s brother. “Well first off, it is nice to meet my mate’s siblings. Though I wish it was under better circumstances.” Anna’s brother came up and held out his hand to me. ‘So I didn’t miss hear Mel when she said mates and no mate.’ I thought to myself for a sec.

I shook his hand. “My name is Ethan Jackman, one of the future alphas of the Raven Moon pack. Nice to meet you.” I said. He reached for Terrance next. “My name is Jeremiah Ainsworth. King of the Vampires.” Terrance and I shot each other a surprise look as he shook his hand. Another royal mate. “Terrance Jackman, the other future alpha of the Raven Moon pack.” Now it was his turn to be slightly surprised. “I thought there could only be one alpha in werewolf packs.” Jeremiah said with a confused expression.

“For most that is the case, but since our fathers are triplets… they decided to rule the pack together as alpha and it has worked for us.” I said. Terrance nodded. “Yeah and if Melody’s mate was someone under her rank as alpha, then we would have let her be a co-alpha of our pack with us.” He added. Jeremiah nodded. “Well she will be my queen and the queen of the vampires if she accepts me.” He said, as he looked at Mel with love in his eyes. ‘Wow the mate bond is strong. I have never seen a vampire look at our kind with such kindness and love.’ I said to Terrance through our mind link. ‘Yeah, I wonder if it will be like that for us when we are blessed with our own mate.’ He replied. Now we just needed to wait for Melody to wake up and talk to both her mates.
