Drake’s POV

I am lifting weights in the weight room, when my second in command, and best friend/bodyguard, came up to me. “Hey Drake.” He said with a small smile. I grunt as I lift the bar and up on the bench press supports before sitting up to face him. He handed me a towel to wipe off the sweat from my face. “What is up Jessie?” I asked, as I wiped my neck, face and hands.

“King Jeremiah sent us an email saying that he would be in our territory along with Prince Luca, from the Royal Moon pack, for a while.” Jessie said. “Huh?” I questioned him. I wasn’t sure I heard him right. Why would the king of the vampires be traveling with a prince of the werewolves? “I thought vampires and werewolves don’t get along?” I asked Jessie. Standing up so we were eye to eye. “That’s what I thought, but here is the email. He said he is traveling with Prince Luca.” Jessie said, handing me the paper he printed out.

I read it over, but it was still surprising. As King of the werebears, I have kept things pretty neutral between us and other creatures, but I have never once heard about a vampire getting along well enough with a werewolf to travel together. “And he didn’t say why they would be in my territory.” I stated as I finished reading the email. “Nope. What would you like to do?” Jessie asked. I thought for a moment. “Invite them to stay here with us. That way we can keep a close eye on them and make sure they are not here to cause trouble.” I said. Jessie bowed his head and turned to reply to King Jeremiah.

My bear, Lance, was starting to pace in my head. ‘What is your take on this, and what have you riled up?’ I asked. Normally he is quiet most of the time. I usually only hear from him when we shift. ‘I am not sure on either topic, but I feel something is coming our way.’ He said. I thought more on this matter. My bear was strong and his intuition was hardly ever wrong. I wonder what was heading towards us.

Melody’s POV

After a few days of driving, no luck with replaceing anyone’s mate so far. Though there was still a good chance. I was looking out the window when I thought I saw something duck behind a rooftop. It looked almost like a person. I rubbed my eyes and looked again, but saw nothing. “Everything alright?” Jeremiah asked. I turned to him and smile. “Yeah, just thought I saw someone leaping from roof to roof.” I said. “You could have. Humans these days do some pretty awesome, but slightly stupid stuff.” EJ said from the passenger seat. Luca was behind the wheel for a shift at driving. “Yeah, it could have been someone doing that par-core stuff you see online.” TJ said from the other side of Jeremiah.

I giggled. Humans were funny. “Oh I got a invatation to stay on the reservation for us at King Drake’s home.” Reservation? Jeremiah seemed to see my confused look. “The reservation is what werebears call there territory. Like how werewolves call their territory pack lands.” he explained. I nodded while mouthing an ‘oh’. “Are we going to stay there?” I asked. “Well it would be rude not to accept an invite from a king.” Luca said. “Even if it is most likely his way of keeping an eye on us to make sure we are not here to cause trouble in his lands.” Jeremiah added.

“Awww how cute, you are finishing each other’s sentences like the twins.” I said with a small laugh. EJ and TJ snickered at that. Luca huffed and Jeremiah just smirked at me while raising an eyebrow. “Be careful little mate, or are you trying to get yourself punished?” He asked in a deep husky voice. I shivered and felt my face heat up. “Ah, eww. Gross dudes.” My brothers snapped at the same time and covered their ears. Luca and Jeremiah laughed. Getting their revenge.

“So, I have never seen a real live werebear… Are they as big as they say?” I asked Jeremiah. He nodded. “Yes. Werebears average between 6 to 8 ½ feet tall. While werewolves and vampires max out at about 7 ½ feet.” He explained. I was surprised. “Wow, and I thought my brothers and I were tall.” I said. “Well that is just their human forms, their bear forms can be even bigger. Around 10 to 13 feet tall I believe.” Jeremiah added. I was shocked. Artemis was about 10 feet tall herself. Most alphas are around that tall. “I have heard King Drake usually likes to remain neutral. I wonder why?” I mumbled.

“Maybe he just hates conflict or is a wimp.” TJ joked. I just rolled my eyes and looked back out my window. I highly doubted that. His name alone is as strong as our fathers name in the family company. Artemis seems eager to meet him. I wonder what he is truly like.

*A couple days later…*

We finally reach the reservation of King Drake’s land. About another hour drive into the woods and we see a beautiful stone mansion. It was actually a mix of stone and darkwood. The smell of pine all around us. “Wow this place is beautiful. I can’t wait to go for a run.” I said out loud, to no one in particular. “Not by yourself.” EJ said sternly. “Yeah. Remember what happened last time?” TJ asked. I sighed and nodded. “Well isn’t that what you guys are here for?” Jeremiah asked. “Yeah. Remus wants to spend some time with Artemis.” Luca said as he wrapped his strong arms around me from behind. “And Logan can run just as fast as your wolves can.” Jeremiah said, then he placed a soft peck on my cheek.

I smiled. Some warriors showed us to some available rooms. Jeremiah wasn’t kidding. They were freaking huge. They were taller and bulkier than us werewolves. Though even if they were tall and had huge muscles… Their arua gave off the same kind of ranking that we give off in our packs. I could tell which warriors outranked Tony, Star, and Tobias, but since Tucker was a future beta and my brothers and I were alphas… Not many seemed close to us. Star and I were sharing a room. Tucker decided to bunk with EJ and TJ, so that Tobias and Tony could share a room with their mates. Luca and Jeremiah each got their own room.

“So how come you are not sharing a room with your mates?” Star asked as I was in the bathroom showering. She was in the bedroom unpacking her suitcase. We left the door to the bathroom open so we could still talk. “I don’t want to tempt them into marking and mating me. I still need to replace my last mate and explain things first.” I yelled out. I turned off the water, dried off and wrapped a towel around me. “Your turn for a shower.” I said as I walked towards my bed that had my suitcase. Star smiled and grabbed her clean clothes and walked into the bathroom. I hear the water running again. “So how do you feel about this whole multiple mate thing? I mean, I know it would be normal if they were triplets like you dads, but not only are you getting three men that are not related to each other… but they are also different creatures.” She called. I got dressed in a black sports bra and black tank top with some workout shorts.

“Honestly in the beginning I was freaking out, but spending time with Jeremiah and Luca alone makes me feel like it was always supposed to be this way.” I called back. I thought I would need a strong mate because I am strong willed and, I will admit, a bit hard for one guy to handle. “Maria, Wilson and I always knew you would have multiple mates, but not like this. I mean I never heard of a wolf being mated with a vampire before. Don’t werebears, vampires, and a few other creatures just choose their own mates?” She asked.

“Usually yes they do, but Jeremiah has told me that the royal vampires always have a fated mate. I am not so sure about werebears though.” I said, as I finished putting on some socks and shoes. I grabbed my brush and started brushing my long hair. I just finished putting my hair in a ponytail as Star comes out drying her hair. “I’m gonna explore. Feel free to rest a bit.” I said as I headed for the door. “Okay, call me through Crystal if you need me right away.” She called after me. “Will do.” I yelled back.

Now, the boys just said I couldn’t go for a run alone, but I would be ok as long as I was inside King Drake’s house. Someone would have to be very stupid or have a death wish to storm this place. The decor reminded me of when I was at Luca’s home. Except instead of wolves, they were bears. I noticed some warriors walking by, one with blonde hair and one with black hair. I called out to them. “Excuse me. Do you guys have a weight room or something like that here?” I asked. “Yes ma’am. You go down this hall, at the end you take a left, and it will be the fifth door on your right.” The blonde one said with a smile. I returned his smile and nodded. “Thank you so much.” I said.

“The weights may be heavier than what you are used to Miss. Please be careful with what you try to pick up.” The black haired man said. I smiled at him. “I’m a lot stronger than I look, but I promise to be careful. Thanks for the tip.” I said and waved to them as I went down the hall that they pointed me to. I found the room and was about to head in when a thick tanned muscle armed stopped me. “Whoa there little miss. That is for warriors to train and blow off some steam. The weight room is not a place for a cute little she-wolf like yourself. How about I take you to the garden instead and you can have some tea and look at all the pretty flowers.” He suggested as he blocked my path.

I c****d an eyebrow at him. ‘Little? Flowers? Tea? Was this guy high or something? I was not a girly girl she-wolf. Could he not tell warrior she-wolves from other she-wolves? I looked at his aura… He was definitely someone of high rank. A beta level if I was to see it in the terms I knew. He was handsome with his dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes, but he was nothing compared to my mates. “Um, no thank you sir. I wish to go into the gym and work out.” I replied politely, though Artemis was clawing to show this man just how little we were. He smirked at me with a raised eyebrow. “I highly doubt a little gal like you could even lift the bar without any weights. No need to act strong here, darling.” I felt my eyebrow twitch a bit.

“Believe me sir, I am much stronger than I look, and if you call me ‘little’ or ‘darling’ one more time you are asking for trouble.” I said while looking him dead in the eyes. He then gave me a stern look and placed his hands on my shoulders. “Alright I tried being nice, but women are not real fighters. So run along and go enjoy the garden view.” He said as he turned me away from the door. Then he released my shoulders and swatted my butt to make me move in the direction he turned me to. ‘OH, THAT IS IT!!’ Artemis and I roared in unison in our mind.

I spun around so fast this guy hadn’t a chance to react. He may be bigger than me in muscles and height, but I was an alpha… not some she-wolf he can brush off. I roundhouse kicked him with so much force that he went through two walls. Then all of a sudden the scent of coffee and chocolate hit my nose. ‘Mate.’ Artemis howled. My final mate was close by.
