Episode 35

Melody’s POV

“We are all alone now, little mate, but you still haven’t answered my question.” Drake said, his hot breath fanning my ear. “Well, I am not fully ready for more than one right now, so I was wondering if we could take turns?” I ask. “I see no reason why not, moye serdtse.” (my heart) Jeremiah said. “As your mates we only want you to be comfortable with us, mi pequeño tesoro” (my little treasure) Luca said with a sweet smile. “And to be fair, Luca can have you tonight. Since he found you as his mate first.” Drake said, as his hands rubbed gently down my sides.

Sparks erupted from where he touched me, sending a shiver throughout my body. “Drake, how big is your rule? Like Luca is responsible for all the wolf packs in North America, and Jeremiah is the ruler of all vampire kind no matter where they are… So what is considered your kingdom?” I asked. “I am responsible for all the werebears in North America as well. Though most werebears are in the northern parts of the USA and spread out in Canada.” He said. I thought hard for a little bit. “What are you thinking about mi pequeño tesoro” (my little treasure) Luca asked.

“Well I was trying to get a rough idea on where we can build a new pack house. That would be our main home. I wanted it to be in a good place for all of us to be able to fulfill our duties to the fullest.” Drake pulled open a drawer and pulled out a piece of paper. He unfolded it and placed it in front of us. It was a map. “So how about we replace something in the middle of the United States? Since I am here in Maine and Luca was from Northern California… we can look for something in the middle.” Drake suggested. “That would be perfect, and we can keep the original pack houses in each territory for when we have special events in different clans.” I added.

Just then there was a knock at the door. “Come in.” Drake called out. The door opened and Tucker poked his head in. “Ah there you are Mel. I need your help real quick.” He said as he rushed inside and was standing on the other side of Drake’s desk. “What is wrong Tucker?” I asked. He is normally never this frazzled. “I found my mate, but she is a rogue. She seems terrified of males and alphas so I was wondering if you could talk to her?” He looked up at me with pleading eyes. “Cerberus said that she must be hurt or weak because he can not connect to her wolf, but I couldn’t get her to come here. She really seemed scared.” He added.

I gave him a reassuring smile. “Of course I will help you convince her to come here. Take me to her now, so I can talk to her.” I said sliding off Drake’s lap. “While I am gone you guys can get an idea of a new spot for our future home.” I give Drake a peck on the cheek. “You shouldn’t go alone, little mate.” Drake said, as I pecked Jeremiah on his cheek. “I am not going alone. I will have Tucker with me, plus remember that I am no damsel either.” I smirked and then pecked Luca on his cheek. “I promise King Drake, nothing will happen to Melody on my watch. She is like a sister to my brothers and I.” Tucker said proudly. “Besides if she is terrified of males, extra guards would possibly scare her so much that she could run off.” I added. My mates nodded in agreement.

As I speed walked with Tucker I wanted to know more about this new mate of his. “So what is her name?” I asked. “Her name is Jayde and she is so adorable. I just wish she wasn’t so scared. If I wasn’t her mate she probably would have ran from me on sight.” He said. Artemis jerked at the name. ‘Jayde?’ she snarled. ‘It could be a different Jayde, Artemis. It is a very pretty name. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone else shared the name.’ I told her honestly. What were the chances that the horrible she wolf that tried to steal my mate was mated to one of my best friends that I consider to be another brother. People shared names. I mean Uncle Nathan and Uncle Alex both liked the name ‘Michael’ so much that they both named their oldest son that. We just call Uncle Nathan’s ‘Michael’… Mike so we don’t confuse the two of them.

He leads me to a small clearing through some bushes. There are thick trees all around, and I get that feeling again. The one that I feel someone watching me, or more like watching over me. “Where is she, Tuck-” I couldn’t finish his name as I felt something hit me in the back of my neck. I felt like I was walking on air and loopy. I turned to see the same Jayde that got banished from her pack for her crimes. Artemis growled, but whatever she drugged us with quickly took effect. As I fell I felt strong arms catch me. My vision was blurry and it was like my ears were turned off. I saw Tucker saying something to Jayde, but I couldn’t hear what he was saying. Then everything went black.

Tucker’s POV

We get to the clearing so Melody and talk my mate into coming back to the house with us. I look around for her, but can’t see her. “Where is she, Tuck-” Mel starts asking, but as she is saying my name she got cut off. I turn to see a small green dart sticking out of her neck. I instantly catch her as she starts to fall, then I see Jayde standing near with a dart gun in her hand. It had a silencer on it, so I couldn’t hear the shot. Mel started to fall unconscious, but fought it until the end. I held her close to me as her eyes finally shut and she was asleep. “Jayde, what the hell are you doing? Melody was here to help you.” I screamed at her. Cerberus was growling in my head. ‘How could our own mate hurt Melody?’ He roared.

Cerberus was very protective over Melody, just like my brothers and the twin’s wolves. None of us would ever let anything happen to Melody, no matter who it was. “Oh please, I am giving this filthy b***h what she deserves. She took my place as queen. I should be the one mated and marked by Luca, I should be the queen of the werewolves.” She screamed back at me. I felt like some had hit me in the gut with a two by four. All the air was knocked out of my lungs. Cerberus was whimpering that his mate wanted another instead of us.

“Now are you going to carry her for me or do I have to drug you too? Either way she is leaving with me, with or without you.” Jayde said in a sassy tone. I growled. ‘Forgive me Cerberus.’ I said. ‘No forgiveness necessary, do what needs to be done.’ he replied. I cutched Melody to me and looked Jayde in the eyes. “I would die before I let you hurt her.” I set Mel gently on the ground and stood up tall. “I, Tucker Delgado, future beta of the Raven Moon pack, herby reject the rogue Jayde as my mate and female beta!” I state firm and clear. Pain races through my chest as if an invisible silver knife was stabbing into me, burning and cutting my heart out. I looked over and saw that Jayde had crumbled to her knees at the pain.

“I, Jayde Whitmore, reject your rejection.” She gasped out. The pain was gone just a sudden as it came. Both of us gasped for breath. Then she laughed at me. “You can’t harm me without breaking the mate bond, otherwise it would do more damage to you and your wolf, and as long as I don’t accept your rejection the mate bond remains.” She laughed with an evil witch like cackle that you would hear in movies. ‘Cerberus what do we do?’ I asked. I would die before I let this psycho touch Melody. How could my angel of a mate have truly been this sick and twisted? To use the mate bond like this… Melody would skin her alive if she wasn’t mated to me.

Just as Jayde was raising the dart gun to shoot me. A weird knife thing was thrown into her hand, going through her hand and causing her to drop the gun and scream out in pain, then a red dart hit Melody’s arm. Within seconds Melody started to stir and began to wake up. She blinked her eyes and was still groggy. “T-tucker, what happened?” she asked, holding her head with her hand. Before I could answer the three of us were plunged into a dark void. I looked around and saw Artemis and Cerberus standing next to Mel and I. I looked over to Jayde and saw a pretty brown she wolf standing by her.

The she wolf whimpered in pain and looked longingly at Cerberus. Cerberus looked as if he wanted to run to the she wolf and comfort her. ‘What the-’ Jayde starts, but was silenced when Artemis growled at her. It was like that red dart reversed whatever that green dart did to Melody and Artemis, and Artemis set up this connection between us. ‘I am so sorry my princess and my mate. I never wanted things to be like this.’ the she wolf said. ‘Roxie, what is going on?’ Melody asked. ‘I do not have much time, my princess. This needs to be done before we lose the connection. You two are not at 100%’ Roxie said as she stepped towards Cerberus, and he stepped towards her.

‘I, Cerberus, beta wolf to the Raven Moon pack, hereby reject the rogue Roxie as my mate.’ He stated clearly. The same pain from when I tried to reject Jayde came back to my chest. ‘Ah. Don’t you dare you dumb mutt!’ Jayde hissed as she clutched her chest with her bleeding hand. ‘I, Roxie, a rogue hereby accept your rejection. May you be blessed with a far better mate than I.’ Roxie stated. I felt the bond break completely. I clung onto Melody as both Roxie and Cerberus howled in pain. Then we were all on the ground back in the woods. I never have heard of the wolves themselves breaking the bond and rejecting each other. ‘It was the only way to keep Melody and Artemis safe. They come before a mate.’ Cerberus said, though he still sounded broken.

I breathed deeply and steadied myself. Then I got up and staked towards Jayde. The bond breaking seemed to affect her more than me since Cerberus and I still had to be strong for Melody. I grabbed Jayde by the neck and lifted her off the ground. I could feel the tears running down my face. My heart and my soul feel like they are burning and tearing. Jayde gripped my arm, trying to get me to release her, but I squeezed tighter. “You used dark magic to harm Melody’s mate, you tried to harm Melody in front of me, and you tried to use me to harm my pack… The punishment for your actions is death!”

I yelled at her, and with tears running down my face I plunged my other arm through her chest and ripped out her heart. Splattering b***d all over myself, I held Jayde in the air as she coughed up a lot of b***d through her nose and mouth. When I saw her eyes roll in the back of her head. I dropped her body into the dirt. I turned away from it heading back towards Melody. I dropped to my knees and felt Melody wrap her arms around me. I clung to her and cried and screamed until I lost my voice. I was in such a daze, that I never noticed Melody slipping away and shifting into Artemis. She grabbed her bundle of clothes in her wolf mouth and came over and laid down next to me. I used the last of my strength to climb up on her back and wrap my hands around her neck. Crying as she ran, I passed out.

Third Person POV

As Artemis ran back to the house with a heart broken Tucker on her back. Tears were falling from the high tree branches. “He was so strong and brave to sacrifice his mate for her.” the female said, as a heavy stream of tears flooded her face and fell to the ground below. “I will admit that he and his wolf were strong enough to fulfill their duty and not succumb to their heart’s desire of the mate bond, but you were reckless with that kunai you threw.” Her brother snapped at the end. Earning him a glare from his sister. “Oh don’t give me that brother. You shot the princess with those medical darts that Uncle Parker made special for us!” She snapped back.

He sighed. “Well we will be meeting them pretty soon, once the bonds are completed.” He said as he looked up to the sky. “They will send warriors to dispose of this corpse, we need to leave.” He told his sister while jumping away. His sister sniffed and put her hands together. ‘Mother Selene, please grant this beta, Tucker Delgado, a second chance at true happiness, and the wolf soul in that horrible female to be paired with a better human in the next life.’ She opened her eyes and then followed after her brother once again.

Meanwhile in the spirit realm.

“How is this girl supposed to unite the different races if she allowed that boy to reject his mate and then kill her as well… and they were both wolves!” Selene’s brother, Helios, yelled towards his little sister. Selene glared at her brother. “He did it to protect his family. There are some cases where that is more important.” She calmly stated. “Then why did you pair him with her?” Helios asked. “Because I was giving her a second chance to replace her own happiness, despite what she had done to Luca. She was the one that threw that chance away when she harmed my princess.” Selene replied.

“You truly are too kind for your own good, little sister.” Helios said as he walked away. “You used to be just as kind, dear brother, but their time is not up yet. They are already starting to change some minds.” Selene said as she watched the two shadows jumping around. Then she turned to another pond and saw a few people reflexed in it that she knew would be good for her princess, she just had to wait a little bit longer.
