Episode 36

Melody’s POV

As I watched Tucker not only break the mate bond with Jayde between their wolves, but he ripped out her heart and killed her. All I could do for him was hold him as he cried and screamed out his emotions. I knew this was a hard toll on both him and his wolf, Cerberus. I mean it was Cerberus and Roxie that broke the bond by rejecting each other and 99% of the time, the wolves are against rejecting their mates. Wolves mate for life. There were special occasions here and there for a wolf to be blessed with a second chance mate, but most of those occur when the mate has died or that have been rejected. Not many wolves that do the rejecting are blessed with a second chance.

I slipped away from him and collected the things that would need to be studied when we got back. The gun that she shot me with, both darts that were pulled from my body, and the weirdly shaped knife that had Jayde’s b***d on it. ‘Hmmm I have never seen this before.’ I thought to myself and I sniffed the blade’s handle. There was a faint scent on it that I didn’t recognize but something was masking it too. I strip and fold everything into my clothes so I can carry it back. I shifted and grabbed the bundle in my mouth, then I went over to Tucker, who had seemed to be completely zapped of energy, and laid down next to him. He seemed to notice me and climbed up on my back.

Once he was hanging onto my neck, we dashed off back to the house. “EJ, TJ, Tony, Tobais… I need you all to meet me at the east garden. NOW!” I barked through the mind link. ‘Whoa sis, what happened?’ EJ asked. ‘Are you alright?’ TJ asked. ‘Sorry Mel, Tony and I are looking for Tucker. Something is wrong with him.’ Tobias said. ‘I will answer all questions when I get to the garden, and Tucker is with me.’ I replied. I heard nothing else, but when I got to the east garden I saw all four of them huffing and puffing trying to catch their breath. Tobias and Tony were at my side first and grabbed their big brother off my back.

I dropped the clothes in my mouth and tugged on EJ’s t-shirt. He must have realized I needed something to cover myself so I could explain, so he crossed his arms and stripped his black t-shirt off and held it out for me. Once Tucker was off my back, I shifted and slipped the shirt over my head. “Ok Mel, now tell us what happened.” EJ said, slowly. Though I guess it was more for Tobias and Tony. They were huddled on the ground, on either side of Tucker’s body. He must have fallen asleep while I was running back.

“Well ok. First, Tucker found his mate. Second, it turned out to be Jayde from the Royal Moon pack. Third, she used the mate bond to trick Tucker into luring me into a trap. Then hers and Tucker’s wolves rejected each other, breaking the mate bond, and finally Tucker ripped out her heart and killed her.” I spoke fast so the boys would not try to interrupt me with questions. “Oh and I also brought back the gun she shot me with, this weird knife, and a different color dart that I pulled from my arm.” I add as I unwrap my clothes bundle to show them. Tobais and Tony clung to their brother tightly. They must have felt the pain Tucker was in when the bond broke.

“Tobias, Tony, take Tucker to the room and get him cleaned up and tucked into bed. I am sure he is beyond tired.” EJ spoke. The boys nodded and carried their brother away. TJ picked up the knife and was studying it. “I think I have seen this in an old book I read a while ago in the library. I will see what the library here has, if not it will be when we get home.” He told me. I nodded. EJ hugged me. “We will take care of Tucker, you go get some comfort from your own mates.” he told me. I looked down. How could I go and spend time with my mates, when Tucker had given up his to protect me.

TJ kissed me on the top of my head. “Don’t blame yourself little sis. Tucker would be even more broken. Plus if you were gonna mate and mark your mates tonight, it wouldn’t be fair to them to keep them waiting.” EJ nodded. “That is right. He would feel even worse if you gave up your mates, just because he gave up his to protect you.” I sighed. They were right. ‘Artemis? How do you feel?’ I asked her. ‘Girl I think we both need our mates tonight.’ She replied. I smile a bit and then nod to my brothers. “You guys are right. I am going to go replace my mates now.” I say as I wiggle free from my brother’s arms.

They smile and wave me off as I dash towards Drake’s office to see them. I burst through the door and see the three of them still sitting around the map. “Little mate? Is everything ok?” Drake asked, standing up. I nod and run to them. I jump into Luca’s arms and wrap my legs around his waist. “Whoa there little princess. What happened and why are you in your brother’s shirt?” Luca asked as I clung to him. “I will explain everything, but can we all be in the same room tonight. I really need all three of you.” I said, while I shoved my face into the crook of Luca’s neck and inhaled his scent. “Of course we can, baby.” Jeremiah cooed, while running his hand through my hair. “Follow me.” Drake said, as he moved around the desk and out the door.

Luca carried me as he followed Drake. When we stopped I raised my head and looked around. This must have been Drake’s room, because it was huge. The bed was like someone had put two king sized beds together. Luca set me down on the bed. It was super soft like a silky cloud. “Ok baby girl. What happened?” Luca asked as he stepped back, and Drake and Jeremiah stood on each side of him. I took a deep breath and looked at them. I told them everything that happened in the woods with Jayde and Tucker. Luca was beyond pissed at what Jayde tried to do, but at the same time I could see he felt as bad as I did.

I got off the bed and wrapped my arms around Luca again. “EJ and the others got Tucker. They told me that we shouldn’t feel bad about Tucker’s choice. It would just break him more.” I told him what my brothers told me. Luca got out of my arms and then dropped to his knees and wrapped his arms around my waist. I looked at Drake and Jeremiah. They both came closer. Jeremiah grabbed my chin and pressed his lips to mine. I was surprised at first because I had only kissed my mates on the cheek so far. Even though my heart still hurts for Tucker, the comfort in my mates feels right and natural.

I kissed him back and raised a hand to his face. I felt k****s on my neck along with large hands. I pulled back from Jeremiah and turned my head seeing Drake behind me, kissing down my next. He looked up at me and captured my lips, as Jeremiah left his own trail of k****s down the other side of my neck. Jeremiah gently bit down on my neck, making me gasp. Drake took that chance to thrust his tongue into my mouth. Our tongues battled for dominance and I m****d into his mouth. I felt Luca’s hands rubbing up my legs, making me shiver in delight. I felt myself getting wetter and wetter by the second. “Baby girl, I like your brothers, but you need to take this shirt off.” Luca said with a little grin. Before I could even think to answer, Jeremiah and Drake had stopped what they were doing and grabbed the shirt, lifting it over my head. Leaving me completely bare in front of my mates.
