Legend Of The Moon Princess -
Episode 39
“Um, ok so I am confused here.” I state plainly to the twins bowing in front of me. “Well we are happy to answer any of your questions. Feel free to ask away.” Riley said in a happy tone. “But I am sure there is a lot you want to ask so we can travel as we talk.” Kai said. I nodded. Drake went out and bought a huge RV. That way we could all ride in one vehicle and speak to the twins so we did not have to repeat the story over and over. Well at least until we got home to Raven Moon. Jessie drove while Drake, Jeremiah, Luca, and I were sitting at the table with the twins in front of us. “You said that you are my guardians and you are supposed to train and protect me and my mates, right?” I asked. Kai nodded. “That is correct M’lady.” I looked back and forth between them. “How old are you, and what do you mean when you said ‘our world’ earlier?”
“Well Kai and I are from a world called Edolas. It is a world full to the brim of magic, but also full of danger. Our kind has to grow up fast and most are used in the wars that humans start amongst themselves.” Riley said. “As for how old we are… We are 10 years old.” Kai said with a straight face. I choked on my water that I was drinking. “*Cough, cough* E-e-excuse me? 10!?” I asked just to make sure I heard him right. “Yes, we turned ten a little bit before you turned 18. We have been watching you from afar since you came of age.” Riley said. ‘Wait…’ “So when I felt a presence nearby, that was you two?” They nodded. “We had to wait until you found your mates and marked them.” Riley said. “Otherwise it would have drawn unwanted attention in your direction.” Kai added.
“But how come I could never smell you or see you?” I asked. They each held up their right hand that had a black fingerless glove on. The glove had some kind of stone in the middle and it rested on the back of their hands. The one on Riley’s hand was a light blue and the one on Kai’s was bright orange. “These are magical enchantments that conceal our scent and aura completely. You would only sense us if we wanted you to.” Riley explained. “Ok, but back to you being so young… How were you chosen as guardians?” Drake asked. “Well like we said before, our kind has to grow up quickly in order to survive. Mother Selene had chosen us since the day we were born.” Riley said as she pulled the collar of her kimono top down a bit and showed us her collarbone. She had a birthmark of a crescent moon, but it was blue. Kai also barred his collarbone and he had a birthmark of the sun, it was a nice mix of red and orange. “Now look at your own birthmark, Mistress.” Riley said. “How did you-” I started to ask.
“We know of your birthmark because of Mother Selene. She was the one that gave it to you and when she chose us she gave us these.” Riley added. Seeming to think I was insinuating that they were peeping on me. Star held out her hand held mirror and I turned to uncover my shoulder and look at my birthmark. I was surprised to see it. My birthmark always looked like a perfect tattoo outline of the merging sun and moon with three stars down the center where the sun and moon connect. Now it looked as if it was a tattoo instead of a birthmark. The stars were each filled in. Each one a different color. Blue, red, and green. In that order from up to down, and the crescent moon was a light blue and the sun was an orangish-red.
“Everything has been decided by fate. The stars represent your mates and the sun and moon represent us as your guardians.” Riley said. “Any other questions?” Kai asked. He seemed to be bored with this. “Brother please. I know you are tired, but hold on a little longer.” Riley said to Kai. He just yawned and looked out the window. “Honestly it seems weird riding in this weird thing.” He said. Tapping the RV window with his knuckles. “How did you guys follow me around? Did you even follow me to Russia?” I asked. Kai nodded. “We hide in that metal bird thing.” He said. “You mean the plane?” EJ asked. Riley smiled and nodded. “If that is the big metal bird that flew across the sky, then yes.”
I noticed that TJ and Tucker were unusually silent while we talked to the twins. “TJ, Tucker, is there something on your minds?” I asked them. TJ cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck. “Um I don’t know if I am the only one that caught it or if I imagined it, but you have referred to yourselves as ‘your kind’… did I hear that part right?” I turned to watch the twin’s reaction. “Yes you heard correctly.” Kai said, not tearing his gaze from the window. “Ok well what do you mean by it?” TJ asked. Riley smiled at him. “Oh we are called beast-humans back in our world. I don’t know what you would call us here.” She answered. “What are beast-humans?” Zezar asked. He seemed the most excited to listen to the twins. Almost as if he wanted to study them.
“Beast-humans are a bit like shifters in this world. We are born human, but begin the changes at the age of six years old.” “What sort of changes?” Zezar interrupted. Riley looked at Kai and he sleepily nodded his head. Riley then put her hands together and said one word. “Realise.” and smoke poofed around her for a second. After the smoke cleared Riley had wolf ears and a tail swinging behind her. “Wow, neat trick.” Tobias said. Riley laughed. “It is not a trick. This is my hybrid form. It is between my human and my beast form.” She said. Tobias didn’t seem to buy it. He reached over and grabbed one of the ears on her head and pulled on it.
Riley started to whine like an actual puppy. “P-p-please let go? That really hurts.” She pleaded. Tobias continued to pull until Riley let out a yelp. Then Kai turned his gaze to Tobias and growled at him. Kai snapped his teeth at Tobias like a dog snapping at a threat. “Knock it off you a*s hole. Our hybrid ears are super sensitive. Pulling on them causes a lot of pain.” He growled and gently rubbed his sister’s ear. Once she felt better she did a few different signs with her hands and the smoke covered her again. This time once the smoke cleared, she was back in her human form. “How about we continue this later? You and Kai look like you could use a rest.” Luca suggested. “Well before that, I think he still had a question.” Riley said as she pointed to Tucker. Tucker nodded to her.
“You were the once that helped me protect Melody from Jayde yesterday right?” He asked. Riley and Kai both looked at each other then back to Tucker. They nodded. Tucker took a deep breath. “Then why didn’t you end her before I did?” He asked. “We didn’t want to see you hurt, but you and your wolf deserved to know the truth before she died.” Riley said. “And we know how hard it would have been to kill her if the mate bond was still intact when she died. I wanted to see if you were strong enough to be loyal to the princess, even over your mate.” Kai said, this time looking Tucker straight in the eyes. “How would you know anything about the mate bond, when you two are just children!?” Tucker snapped as he stood up glaring at the twins. “Because the same thing happened to our mother, right in front of us.” They said in unison. Both of their faces and voices were void of any emotion.
