Riley went over to the far side of the ring, taking off her top and shoes. Her undergarment seemed like some kind of wrapping that was around her chest. Kai stepped back with a sigh. She stood with her back facing us. “3…” Kai started to count down. “2… 1… Go!” As soon as Kai said ‘go’ Riley disappeared. I felt a gust of wind and all of a sudden, Riley was right in front of Drake. She struck first and nailed him right in his gut. It felt like time had frozen. She had moved so quickly that no one had seen her, let alone react. Drake doubled over, holding his gut while coughing. “Cough… gasp… w-w-what the… cough… gasp… hell?” Drake gasped out. I looked at Riley and saw that her whole facial expression had changed.

Her eyes had become trained, focused, and a tad cold. Her face was neutral to any emotions. “You seem to have forgotten already, I am a guardian… not some helpless child. That punch was only 10% of my actual strength.” She said, even her voice was cold now. Only 10% power!? That couldn’t be!! Riley brought someone that was about three times her size down to his knees. Riley roughly grabbed Drake’s shirt and pulled his face to right in front of hers. “In training, you are to come at me as if you mean to kill me, in a true battle something as stupid as your male chivalry will only get you killed!” She growled in his face. Her growl was when I noticed something. Artemis had not once growled at what Riley was doing to our mate. ‘It is because she is speaking the truth. I feel something, something big, coming our way.’ She said, Riley then pushed Drake to where he fell on his a*s.

(I chose to use Greek for when Riley or Kai use magic, since Sabrina and Shianna would use Latin for their spells.)

“Riley is correct, Drake. We come from a world where it was kill or be killed. Mother trained us even harder because of the hardships we would face being bastard children.” Kai said. ‘Bastard children? What does that mean?’ I wondered. ‘Bastards are what children are called when they are the result of an unmarried couple in times of old.’ Artemis answered me. ‘What! It was not like it was their fault! They never chose how to be born and they had no choice in their parent’s marital status.’ I said back. ‘True, but it sounds like their old world was a very unforgiving place… and that is why they had to grow up strong and fast.’ she said, kind of heartbroken. “I don’t mean to be a heartless b***h, but this is the same training we went through as young ones.” She said a bit softer as she raised her hand. “Oi ánemoi ypakoúoun stin entolí mou kai therapévoun aftón ton ánthropo.” (Winds obey my command and heal this man.) Riley spoke in her normal gentle voice. Her palm started to admit a pale green light as a soft wind swirled around Drake. When it died down, Drake got up as if nothing was wrong anymore. “What was that?” He asked her.

“I can use wind style magic and water breathing. Both are pretty good for healing and fighting.” She said with her normal voice and smile. “It is why when we are working together the two of us complement each other. I use fire style magic and thunder breathing.” Kai said. Riley nodded. “What does that mean?” Jeremiah asked. “Well what happens when you mix fire and wind?” Riley asked. “The fire’s strength grows.” EJ said. “Correct! Now water and lighting?” “The power of the lighting would increase, just like the fire would with the wind.” TJ answered. “Ding, ding, ding we have a winner. Even though we are able to be compatible fighting with each other, we can also be each other’s greatest challenge.” She explained.

“What do you mean by that?” Luca asked. “We can talk more about it at break. Now are you guys going to come at us with everything you got or do I need to beat the crap out of all of you first?” Riley asked, in a sassy tone. Drake and Luca stripped off their shirts and got into position. “Great! Now no holding back. Kai and I will be blocking only for now, but we will be counting how many times you leave yourself open for a counter attack.” Riley said as she stood in front of Drake. Kai stood in front of Luca. “Ready… GO!” Kai called out.

Drake’s POV

I couldn’t believe what just happened a few minutes ago. I thought to myself as I threw punch after punch at Riley. She was blocking every single one. When she had moved so fast that I didn’t even seen her, she then hit me and I felt like I was hit by a f*****g truck. Her healing magic felt pretty calming, like I was being wrapped in a warm fluffy cloud. “Drake, your mind is wandering too much, your punches have lost about 5% of power since we started.” Riley said, pulling me from my thoughts. Lance agreed with her that we didn’t need to hold back, so I haven’t.

I channeled strength from Lance into my human body, but even when I make contact with her hand each time… Riley had not moved an inch from where she stood. I kept throwing punches until I was completely exhausted. I bent over panting, trying to catch my breath. “Good job. Your strength is remarkable, but you only used your arms. You have the potential to increase your speed and strength together if we improve your leg muscles.” Riley said, as she took the small bag she had tied to her belt off and grabbed a food pill out of it. He held it out for me. I took it and as soon as I swallowed it, I felt a ton better.

Luca’s POV

I know that I still need way more training then Jeremiah or Drake, I was still getting use to my wolf speed and strength. “Come one, Luca, push harder. Use all your speed and strength.” Kai half yelled, but I could tell it was supposed to encourage me. ‘Help me out Remus?’ I asked. He let out a growl in my mind and I felt my limbs moving faster than before. I felt power coming from my wolf, but I also felt as if I was not in full control of my arms and legs at the time.

I snapped out of my trance like state, when Kai had grabbed both of my fists. “Ok, you need some meditation to be more in balance with your wolf. You can’t always rely on his powers to see you through. You have your own strengths yourself too.” Kai said. He let me go and Riley then tossed me a food pill. I popped it into my mouth. “Alright, Jeremiah… Melody… You two are up next. Jeremiah with Riley and Melody with me.” Kai said. Drake and I switched places with Melody and Jeremiah. It was their turn now.

Jeremiah’s POV

A whole hour flew by as Luca and Drake attacked the twins, but not a single shot made it past. If I didn’t witness Riley bringing Drake to his knees earlier I would have opposed to fighting her, but I had to respect her warrior spirit. “Are you ready, Jeremiah?” She asked, with her normal smile on her face. It was getting hard for me to tell if that was a real smile or a fake one. “Yeah. So anything goes?” I asked. Riley nodded. “Yup, you can use any physical attack you want. Just don’t hold back on me.” She said, with a small giggle. “I promise I won’t.” I may not have the same strength that a bear or wolf have, but I was pretty fast among the vampires.

“Alright. Ready… Set… GO!” Kai called out. I used my vampire speed to throw a swarm of attacks towards Riley. My human eyes couldn’t keep up with my own movements, but my vampire sight could. I would throw in random combinations with a kick here and there, but Riley was defecting them all. She kept slapping my wrists and ankles away like she was swatting away flies. I was amazed that she was keeping up with this speed.

Melody’s POV

As soon as Kai gave the word, I attacked. I was pretty fast and strong, but after what the twins had displayed I knew there was a lot they could teach. Despite being so much younger than me. Kai was just as fast and blocked every attack I threw at him. “You are pretty well balanced, Melody, but you think too much while you are fighting.” Kai said as he blocked another punch. “You need to tap into your wolf side more.” He said as he grabbed and held my wrists. “An hour has passed. It is your brother’s turn.” Kai said. Then he released me. “Really?” I was stunned. I wasn’t even tired. “You have wonderful stamina.” Riley said as she tossed a food pill towards me. I ate it as I thought about what Kai meant to tap into my wolf more.

Third Person POV

‘Brother, do you sense them?’ Riley mind linked Kai as they were switching out partners and getting ready for Terrance’s and Ethan’s turn for sparing. ‘Yes I do. Just let them make the first move. Demons are a tricky and curious race. They may just be observing us.’ Kai replied to her. Then he looked up at the sky. ‘We need to start this next round. It is almost noon.’ He told her. ‘Ok, but you know Ethan and his wolf could help you with that issue… just like mother did.’ Riley told him. ‘I don’t want to be a burden to him. We are to protect them, not the other way around.’ Kai half snapped.

As Ethan and Terrance lined up to them. “Ethan you are with Kai and Terrance is with me.” Riley said with a smile. Kai remained stoned faced, but he was upset that Riley had been pushing him the last few days to ask Ethan for help. ‘Riley, why must you do this?’ He asked. While Ethan squared up in front of him. ‘I know you feel a connection to them as much as I do. You can not hide that fact from me.’ She snapped back as she got ready in front of Terrance. ‘Plus you were passed out when they saw our memories. The looks they were giving our mother made me hopeful. Maybe we could all be a family again, with some additions.’ She whispered hopefully into his mind. Kai scoffed in their link. ‘Don’t be so foolish, little sister! There has never been a single beast human that has ever had a second chance mate!’ he snapped. ‘Just cause there has never been one before doesn’t mean that Mother Selene couldn’t start now.’ She threw back at her brother and then cut the link.

‘You know she is right. There could be a first time for everything.’ Kai’s beast soul, Titan, told him. ‘I know that, but the chances are very slim to none. It would break me to see Riley or mother getting hurt badly because there was too much false hope.’ Kai replied, as he was getting ready to signal the next match to start. “Ready…” He called aloud. ‘But sometimes having faith in something good helps more than always being a dream crusher.’ Titan said to Kai. “Set…” ‘Alright, I will make it up to Riley later, and I will try to be a bit more optimistic about the connections between these two.’ Kai said to his beast soul. He wants both his mother and his sister to be happy, but doesn’t want to see them crushed if things don’t work in their favor. “GO!”
