Episode 47

Ethan’s POV

After teaching Kai how to use his bathroom, I went and got ready for bed myself. Before I could crawl into bed and sleep, Apollo started to pace in my head. ‘What is it?’ I asked him. ‘Go check on the twins.’ He said. ‘Kai and Riley? They should be asleep.’ I told him. ‘Just go check on them.’ He snapped. I sighed and got out of bed. I knew he wouldn’t let me sleep until I checked on them. I walked out of my room. The twins and Melody’s mates were on the same floor as us. I found it funny that the only reason that Melody and her mates are not sharing a room right now is because Melody wants to be respectful in our parents’ home. Doing the dirty deed over at Drake’s was different because that was considered their home.

I walked over to Kai’s room that was next to mine. The light was on and I heard whispers coming from inside. I placed my ear on the door. It was Riley and Kai talking in low voices. “Brother, you really need to talk to Ethan about this. Your body can’t keep up with it.” Riley said, her voice was filled with concern. “I know, but this is my issue. Besides what if I hurt him like I hurt Aunt Kayla… Only those that are strong fire users, like mother, could help me channel the extra magic.” Kai said. He sounded almost drained. “What has Titan told you. Ember has told me that she believes Ethan is strong enough and since he has full use of his wolf. As were we still have 3-5 years before we get our beast forms, and I worry that if you keep this up all alone you may lose your ability to transform.” Riley said. I could hear in the sound of her voice that she was close to crying. I couldn’t take it anymore and burst into the room.

Kai and Riley jumped at the sound of the door opening and me walking inside. I closed the door behind me and walked over to them. “Ok, I heard a handful of what is going on… Now I want the whole truth right now!” I demanded. I saw Riley had tears in her eyes while Kai just looked stunned to see me. It was the first time I saw him with a different expression other than his stone face or the small smile he shows Riley every now and then. Riley got up from the bed and wrapped her arms tight around my waist, face planting herself into my gut. I looked at Kai for the answers I wanted. Having a twin of my own I knew Riley would not say anything until Kai did, even if she was worried for Kai’s well being. Kai took a deep breath and flopped down on his back.

“Because of our mother’s bloodline from her parents, Riley and I were gifted with very strong powers when we got our ears and tails.” He said. I picked up Riley and sat down on the edge of Kai’s bed with her in my lap. Her face moved from my stomach to the crook of my neck. “Mine is extremely strong fire magic, but it is too much for me to keep under control. Especially when it reaches its peak at noon when the sun is at its highest point in the sky.” Kai continued. I nodded. “Mother used to help me release the extra magic, so my body wouldn’t be hurt, but since we have been watching over Melody, I have had to go somewhere secluded to release it myself.” “But doing it everyday for the last few months has been hard on him, If always comes back almost drained. The strain of the extra magic is becoming too much for his body.” Riley added.

“How did your mother help you?” I asked Kai. If I could do the same then it would ease his pain. “Mother and her beast soul would allow her fire magic to flow into me to make a connection with me and Titan. Using that connection I can push the extra magic into her body. Her body was stronger than mine and she either burned through the magic with extra training or through a fire dance she taught me.” Kai said. I nod. “Well tomorrow you and I will try to do the same thing your mother did. You will have to teach me the fire dance later, but I can burn the magic off with training.” I told him.

Kai’s eyes went wide. “But I could hurt you. I hurt my Aunt and sensei when she tried to help me. I don’t wanna hurt you or your wolf.” Kai said. Before I could say anything else, Apollo snatched control for a minute. “Kai do not think that I would be so weak that I couldn’t help you. I am a full fledged alpha wolf and Ethan has been learning to control his fire magic for the last eight years.” Apollo growled out. I felt Riley cling to my body tighter and Apollo nuzzled her before he gave me back control. I looked at Kai. “Even if you don’t like asking for help. I am going to help you. Now go to sleep and don’t worry. I won’t say anything to anyone. This is your secret to share when you are ready.” I said.

Kai nodded and looked down. I ruffled his hair and showed him a big smile. “Good night little man.” I said and stood up with Riley in my arms. “Time for you to go to bed too, princess.” I said and walked out of Kai’s room. I went across the hall to Riley’s room and tucked her into bed. “Riley I know twins have a strong bond and you don’t wanna break Kai’s trust, but I don’t know how Terrance and I would feel if something happened to either of you two. So promise to just let me know if something bad is going to happen. It is hard to protect you guys when I don’t know what is wrong.” I said. Riley looks up at me and nods. “Ok Ethan, I promise.” she said. I kissed her forehead and started leaving the room. “Good night, Ethan.” Riley called out. I turned back to her and smiled. “Good night, sweetheart.” I said and left the room and went back to bed myself.

Third Person POV

~ A few states away from the Raven Moon Territory~

A burst of light happened in the dark night sky and two figures fell from the center point of the bright light. They landed nimbly in the treetops. “Whoa, you think she could have opened the portal closer to the ground?” One asked as she held onto a tree branch with one arm. “Oh? You actually sounded worried there, little sister.” The other one teased. “You jest if you think I was worried, dear sister. I was just thinking out loud. Now how are we to go about looking for them here in this world?” The younger one asked. “Well, we were told that humans in this would think magic is make believe, so we have to be careful not to use our powers in front of anyone, unless they are magical themselves in one way or another.” The elder sister said. “Alright, then let’s start looking for them. Jasmine is near her whitts end if we can’t replace them soon.” The younger one said. They nodded to each other and started hopping from branch to branch.
