Melody’s POV

After talking with daddy’s wolf. I got dressed for morning training with the twins. We were meeting them on the training grounds today. Riley was wrapping something on Drake’s legs as I came out. “What are those?” I asked. “They are special leg weights I made. I had just enough material to make a pair for each of you.” Riley said. “Riley and I can use our magic to increase the weights on them without you knowing. You will need to wear them at all times. With the exception of when you are bathing and fooling around in bed.” Kai added, with a small blush on his cheeks. “Yes, these are very special and will not shred to pieces when you shift.” Riley added.

Kai was putting some kind of bracelet on Luca’s arms. “Is it the same with the bracelets?” Luca asked, holding his arm up to look closer at the bracelet. “No, those are so we are not always using the princesses powers. It will allow us to hear your inner souls.” Kai said. “How would that be useful?” EJ asked. Kai and Riley both stopped what they were doing and turned to EJ. “Which side is the most dominant whether you are in human form or wolf form?” Riley asked. “Our human side is, unless we give control over to the other side.” EJ answered. “Ok. Now if they were not Melody’s mates, would you be able to trust Luca, Drake, or Jeremiah?” Kai asked. EJ thought for a moment. “In a theory I would hope so, but realistically no.” EJ answered. Drake, Jeremiah, and Luca all nodded their head in agreement to EJ’s answer. “Then how can you think that your wolf could?” Kai asked. “Drake, Luca, and Jeremiah, along with their other sides, have to learn to be able to trust each other like they have known each other all their lives like twins or triplets that normally share one mate.” Riley said. “Oh I see. So this is not only to strengthen the trust and skills between us as Melody’s mates, but so that we can increase the bond and trust between our other souls as fighters. Right?” Luca said, sounding excited.

“Exactly. Plus it is helpful to know the other soul. Some have similar personalities to their human side, others don’t” Riley said. “How did you come up with this training trick?” Jeremiah asked. “We didn’t. Our mother did.” The twins answered in unison. “When a beast human transforms into full beast mode, then our beast soul is in complete control.” Kai said. “Since we can only go into hybrid mode, we are still in control.” Riley added. The twins went back to placing leg weights and bracelets on everyone’s wrist. “Now you will only be able to hear the inner souls of those that are wearing the bracelets. It works just like a regular mind link.” Kai explained. I noticed that Kai and Riley were wearing the same bracelets. I got curious so I tried. ‘Hello?’ I thought. ‘Hello princess.’ A soft female voice talked back. ‘Greetings.’ A stern male voice said right after. They were voices I didn’t recognize, so I got startled a bit. ‘Oh please do not be frightened. My name is Ember. I am Riley’s beast soul.’ ‘And I am Titan, Kai’s beast soul.’ I turned to Kai and Riley. They were looking at me with a smile. “Now let us begin training.”

Ethan’s POV

After morning training, the twins gave us a few hour break. It was getting closer and closer to noon. “Ethan, could I speak with you?” Kai asked. “Sure.” I replied. He was giving us a little cover to disappear. Riley left with the others and gave me a bright smile as she walked past me. Once everyone was out of ear shot, even for werewolves, Kai spoke in a hush voice. “Ok, follow me.”

I followed Kai and we were heading to the mountains. Once we were at the base of the mountain. Kai did the same hand sign that Riley did and said “Release.” smoke surrounded him and when it cleared he had the same wolf ears that Riley had, but he also had horns that curved around his head, wings on his back that looked like something a gargoyle would have, and a scaly red tail with spikes at the end of it. Before I could ask, Kai got behind me and flapped his wings while holding onto me by my shoulders. “We need to get to the top. It is safer that way for the forest.” He yelled loudly so I could hear him over the wind rushing around me.

Once we were at the top, Kai lowered me down and let go. Then he landed in front of me. “How is it that you have wings and horns? Plus your tail is different from Riley’s.” I asked. “We told you that if beast human mates are from different races it is a shot in the dark on which beast the child will take until they can transform into full beast mode, right?” Kai said. I nodded. “Well when Riley and I got our hybrid mode it gave us a rough guess, so far Riley will be a wolf beast and I will be a dragon beast.” He said, looking up at the sky. “A DRAGON!?” I was shocked. To replace a dragon shifter nowadays was near to impossible, they are just as secretive as fairies are.

“Yes. Mother was the daughter of an extremely power mated pair. My grandfather was a storm dragon that could create powerful electric storms with his lighting and wind. While my grandmother was a powerful flame wolf that was also gifted in using the healing properties of water.” He seemed so happy to be talking about his family, but I could see the sadness also in his eyes. “You miss them?” I asked. He nods. “I never got to meet my grandparents, they died a year before my mother had us. Though even if I am showing signs of being a dragon now, I can still be a wolf when I transform into full beast mode.” He explained. “What, but how is that possible?” I asked.

“Because Titan has not gotten his physical form yet. If you were to be inside my head you would be speaking to his presence in an empty void. Beast souls get their physical form when they can transform into full beast mode as a form of protection.” He explained further. “How is that protection?” “Well say I was a dragon… at my age I would have been killed for the bounty that most dragons have. For selling my horns or claws they would make a pretty coin off it. When a beast human dies they stay in the form they died in.” “So you don’t shift back if you died as a dragon.” Kai shakes his head.

“No, if I died as a dragon, then the person that killed me could chop me up and sell my parts for profit. If I died as a human, then I would get a proper burial.” Wow I still have so much to learn about his and Riley’s world. “It is just about noon, you should shift into your wolf and open the connection with me.” Kai said. I quickly stripped off my shirt and shorts and shifted, tearing everything else. I opened my mind to Kai. ‘Alright, now what?’ I asked. ‘I need Apollo to connect with Titan.’ Kai said. ‘I am here.’ Apollo said, making his presence known. ‘As am I, Kai.’ I heard an unfamiliar male voice speak. ‘You must be Titan.’ I said. I heard a chuckle. ‘Yes, now you need to relax your body while allowing the extra fire magic flow from Kai’s body into yours. It should flow like a river, smooth and calmly.’ Titan explained.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to relax. Then I started to feel warm. I opened my eyes and saw brilliant brightly golden flames surrounding Kai and me. I could feel their warmth, but they didn’t burn me. I looked at Kai and he was relaxed and smiling. ‘It worked. It truly worked.’ He sounded amazed. ‘What?’ I asked. ‘This is my extra fire magic. My flames are gold. This is how it was when it would flow into mother.’ ‘

What am I supposed to do with it?’ I asked. ‘You can use it however you need to. Mother used to either burn it off in training or store it inside and keep it for when you need it. I believe the term you people in this world use is ‘save it for a rainy day.’ I think.’ He said. ‘But this won’t put any stress on your body?’ I asked, making sure he was ok. ‘Yes. Because it was gently flowing out, instead of me using it.’ I nodded and after a few minutes the golden flames disappeared. I felt recharged and Kai didn’t look as drained as he did last night. ‘Is this something that we need to do everyday?’ he shook his head. ‘No, since I can let it flow gently out then I can release more of my own with it. So we should be good until we get to the Royal Moon pack.’ ‘Ok, well let’s get back. I am hungry.’ I said.
