Episode 70

Melody’s POV

It had been a few days since Tucker, Natalia, and Kayla had marked each other. The day that Luca and I were going to go on a date of our own, Natalia advised us to wait until after the new moon. She had a feeling something was coming and wanted us to up our training a bit. Luca, Jeremiah, Drake, and I flop on the ground after morning training. I was tired and dripping with sweat. “Here you go, Princess.” I hear Kayla say. I open my eyes and see that she is holding bottles of water and a small wrapped cloth of something. I guess living with twin brothers has made it easy for me to tell other twins apart. I sit up and take a bottle from her. It was nice and cold. I cracked it open and downed half of it in one go. After Kayla handed a water bottle to each of my mates, she opened up the cloth and held out some food pills for us.

“I know it is exhausting but trust me when I say that my sister’s hunches for stuff like this have never been wrong before, so it is better to heed their warnings.” She said with a sad smile. I smiled back at her. I know that it was peaceful now, but mama always said not to get too comfortable with peace. “It is ok. Luca and Jeremiah promised to take me on their dates when Natalia feels it is safe again. Have you heard anything about when Alpha Jasmine would be here?” I asked. Kayla shook her head. “No. I pray it is soon, but with the S-class mission that Jasmine took there is no telling when she will be back.” She answered. I nodded and looked over to where Kai and Riley were training with Natalia.

Riley was attacking Natalia with water while Kai was using lighting. I thought how pretty Kai’s attacks were as his lighting was a bright red. Natalia was easily dodging their attacks and countering with wind magic. “How come it looks like Natalia is sending Kai’s lighting towards Riley?” Jeremiah asked. “Because she is. Wind magic repels lightning, but she is sending it towards Riley instead of sending it back towards Kai.” Kayla explained. I nodded in understanding. Then I noticed my dad coming over with a letter in his hand. Kayla then whistled and Natalia, Kai, and Riley stopped their little mock battle and came over to us.

“Hey dad, what is up?” I asked. He handed the letter over to Luca. “Carter arrived here with a letter about the Thunder Mountain pack having an alpha ceremony for young Nicholas.” He said with a smile. “Wow, that is so cool. When do we leave?” I ask in excitement. Mama is Nicholas’ godmother, so it was like I had another brother. He has always been so excited to become alpha and rule just like Uncle Raphael. “The invitation says it is in two days.” Luca reads aloud. ‘Two days? That is the night of the new moon.’ I thought to myself. I looked over at Natalia. She seemed to know what I was wanting to ask. Natalia grabbed her chin as she thought for a few minutes. “I think we can manage it. Riley, Kai… if we go then you are not to leave the princess’ side. Only at night when she is with all her mates and there is a barrier set up so nothing can enter her room.” Natalia said with a very serious tone. “Yes ma’am!” The twins answered in unison.

“Oh thank you so much!” I jumped up and hugged Natalia. She laughed and patted my back. “We don’t want you to put your entire life on hold because of this bastard, so we will do what we can to make sure you are safe to do what you want.” Natalia said. “Yeah. Plus this would be at another pack’s territory. The only humans that would see are those that are already there.” Kayla added. Then it hit me. “So that is why you asked Luca and I to hold off on going on our date.” I said. Natalia and Kayla nodded. “Not showing what we are around humans here is a bit of a challenge for us right now. Especially when it comes to your safety. We would not be able to control ourselves and reveal what we are.” Kayla said. I was glad that they cared but also thankful that they were not trying to lock me up in some high tower to avoid the danger. “But that means you need to train extra for the rest of today and tomorrow morning before we head out.” Natalia said while Kayla nodded. My mates and I g*****d. Kai and Riley laughed. “NO SLACKING OFF!” Natalia and Kayla bellowed in unison.

Two days later…

We arrived at Thunder Mountain. “Man and I thought Riley was scary during training.” Luca said, while rolling his neck and cracking his joints to relieve the tension in them. I laugh and nod in agreement. “Yeah, Natalia and Kayla are no joke when it comes to training. I mean even Kai and Riley were actually sweating after it was over.” I said. “But that ointment that they brought from their world really works wonders on the sore muscles.” Drake said while rolling his shoulders. “It is a special ointment that is made from the medicinal herbs and other special plants with magical properties. Aunt Ren is very well known for her healing treatments.” Riley explained. Kai nodded.

We get out of the car and are greeted by Uncle Raphael and the gang. Uncle Raphael and Aunt Odette come over and bow to me and Luca. I wanted to stop them, but then I remembered the lecture I got from Natalia and Kayla.

Flashback…

“Good morning, Princess.” Natalia greeted me as I entered the dining room with my mates. I smiled. “Good morning, but you can just call me Melody. No different from what I told Riley and Kai.” I said. Natalia sighed and shook her head. “I am sorry, princess, but that is not how things are done. Riley and Kai are following your order to be informal because of the bond that is forming between you and them. Just like it did with Parker and Jasmine.” She explained. I nodded but still couldn’t see why she couldn’t address me by my name. “You need to be more aware of the weight your title holds, princess.” Kayla said from behind me, scaring the crap out of me. “Only those of close relations are permitted to address one of royalty in an informal manner, but even those people will have to address you by title when you attend special events like a ball or a ceremony.” Kayla explained.

“Yes. When we are in other territories back home with Jasmine, we address her as alpha or m’lady. It shows the other leaders that she has our full loyalty and respect. Appearances and formalities are very important when dealing with those in power.” Natalia added. “Some may see you as too weak to be worthy of your title if you never use it. They would either issue a challenge for your title or replace someone with enough skills to get rid of you all together and then stake their claim on your title for themselves.” Kayla said. They kept it up until I finally agreed to accept my title.

End of Flashback…

So now Riley and Kai call me either ‘M’lady’ or ‘Lady Melody’ since I told them to call me what made them feel comfortable with me. Natalia and Kayla call me ‘Princess’ most of the time. They want me to get used to the title and the weight it holds. Luca and I return the bow to Uncle Raphael and Aunt Odette. “Thank you for the invitation, Alpha Raphael. I am sure Luna Odette has put together a wonderful ceremony for the young Alpha Nicholas tonight.” Luca said with such formality and confidence. The last few months together with him makes me forget sometimes that Luca, Jeremiah, and Drake were born and raised to be kings. ‘We still have so much to learn.’ I said in my mind to Artemis.

‘No kidding. I forgot a lot of the proper manners that Natalia and Kayla taught Apollo, Thor, and I back when we were human.’ She admitted. I laughed with Artemis in my mind. Riley and Kai were following Natalia’s order to stick to me like glue. Natalia had gotten them both in formal attire that looked nice on them. Riley was wearing a nice white silky dress with cherry blossoms all over it. It kind of looked like the kind of dresses that hostesses would wear for fancy restaurants. Kai was dressed in all black silk. He kind of looked like a high schooler from an anime. His long sleeve shirt was embroidered with a golden tree design. Both of them still had their swords strapped to their backs.

Uncle Raphael leads us to the dining hall. “So will there be a fighting tournament like when Aunt Odette took the title of Luna?” I asked. Mama told me all about how she met my fathers at the Luna ceremony after party and then showed them what she could do in the fighting tournament the next day. Uncle Raphael chuckled. “No my dear. The fighting tournament is for welcoming the next Luna into the pack and to have a friendly competition between packs that we are close with.” he answered. “Ah so is there anything special about the alpha ceremony?” I asked. Aunt Odette nodded. “Yes. After the ceremony is done and the new alpha has accepted the title he shifts and howls, showing his claim over the pack. Then on the next full moon there is a pack banquet and pack run.” “How come you don’t just have the ceremony on the full moon then?” Riley asked. “Well most packs already have their own tradition for the full moon. Like Raven Moon has their own pack run for the new shifters.” Uncle Raphael answered. Riley nodded. Kai was quiet as usual. He just kept looking all around to make sure the area was safe.

Once we got to the dining hall the place was in a full mingle mode. There were members of a few different packs. I recognized members from Red Moon, Raven Moon, and Thunder Mountain, but there were some people I didn’t recognize. “Is there another pack here?” I asked. I knew that Carter, Luca, and Zezar were the only ones that were coming from my new home pack of Royal Moon. “Oh I invited some close friends from my old pack. The Silver Moon pack.” Aunt Odette said. I noticed a couple young pups running around the dining hall. A couple boys were coming our way. “Hey you boys stop running.” A woman yelled after them. “Watch out!” a man yelled out to them.

It all happened so fast. The boys slid across the floor as they tried to stop, but they rammed right into Riley. The momentive sent the three of them to the floor. The boys landed right on top of Riley. I heard knuckles cracking as I looked down and saw Kai’s fist was tight and slightly shaking, but he still showed no emotion on his face. “You boys can get off me now.” Riley spoke calmly. “But you’re so cute.” one of them said. Kai grabbed my arm and pulled me away from them. Riley flung both boys off of her. As they landed on their butts on the floor in front of us, Riley landed on her feet and dusted off her hands and dress.

Both boys looked over at her in awe. A man and woman came running over. Bowing their heads to me and my mates apologizing. “We are so sorry your majesties. Our sons didn’t mean any harm or disrespect.” The man said. Aunt Odette stepped up. “It is ok Walter. Melody, this is an old friend of mine. Walter White and his mate Jenny. They are warriors from Silver Moon.” She explained. I smiled over at them. Walter still had his head bowed down, while Jenny was helping her sons up. It was then I noticed that they were identical twins. Though one of them had a bandage on his cheek. “Now you two need to apologize to the young lady.” Jenny scolded them. They were just looking at Riley and smiling.

Riley looked at them a bit unimpressed. Then instead of bowing like their parents have been. The boys walked up to Riley and each one took one of her hands and kissed the back of them. “My name is Kyle.” The one with the bandage said. “And my name is Jett.” The other one said. Both had a smile on their faces. Riley raised an eyebrow then she smiled at them. Quick as a flash she took her hands out of theirs and kicked their feet from under them. The boys fell on their butts and Riley had drawn two small kunais from somewhere and held them to the boy’s necks. “Nice to meet ya. I’m Riley Dragneel, guardian to Princess Melody.” She said with a teasing smirk.

Kai coughed and Riley got up. I turned to the stunned parents. “It is okay. Riley is like that with a lot of people. She means no harm.” They still seemed uneasy, but nodded. “M’lady, we should go around and mingle before the ceremony starts.” Riley suggested with a bow. Kyle and Jett got up and were still staring at Riley with stars in their eyes. My mates and I bid Walter and Jenny a good evening and left to go mingle with some other alphas and lunas. “It seems like little Riley might have some fans now.” Luca teased. “Tsk.” Kai clicked his tongue in annoyance. Drake and I chuckled. It seems this night has already been interesting and the main event is still to come.

Estarossa’s POV

The sun has finally set and there is no moon out tonight. With no moon the seal is at its weakest point. Though I still can’t summon anything more than a D-class demon, like those doppelganger demons, but tonight will be different. I added the rest of the b***d that I had from that moon princess onto the seal. This should allow me to bring forth a monster that will get rid of those pesky guardians. Using my alchemy gifts I begin the summoning. “Sas gnéfo sto plevró mou kai sas diatázo na kánete tin entolí mou. Sas diatázo na perásete apó tin pýli.” (I beckon you to my side and command you to do my bidding. I command you to pass through the portal.) There was a blinding light.

Once it died down I was laughing. It worked better than I could have expected. What stood before me were two A-class monsters. “Well it may only be two of them, but if it is numbers I want then this serum will be useful.” I said as I picked up a vial with a red liquid in it. “Bottoms up you two. Time for you to get to work.” I said with a smile.
