Kai’s POV

This was the first time anyone outside of our pack back in Edolas was going to see Riley in this form. Even in our pack where mother had given different races shelter and protection from others who saw to treat them horrible. They feared Riley because of this form. We explained it all to Ethan and Terrence last night but thought it would be ok to wait until after tonight to inform Melody and the others. We never meant for them to replace out this way. Riley had finished her transformation. Her hair and fur had turned silver, her eyes were glowing their multicolor glow, her fangs and claws elongated. This was a backlash of Riley’s divine graces. She could control the wind and water better than anyone, but on the night when there is no moon she turns into a berserker at the stroke of midnight.

It only lasts ten minutes and gives her strength that rivals our mother’s, but since Riley is still so young she can’t tell who is friend or foe in this state. Riley will fight and kill anything in her path when she is like this. “HAHAHAHAHA” Riley’s laughter filled the night air. One of the hellhounds pounced towards her and she moved faster than before and all of a sudden was on its back. She dug her claws into its neck and dragging her hands down only a little bit made ten deep gashes into its flesh. The hellhound howled in pain as it tried to shake her off. “WHAT THE HELL?! Master Estarossa said nothing about one of them being a berserker!” Desyre cried out, only to draw Riley’s attention to her and the other harpies in the sky. “HAHAHAHA” Riley continued to laugh as she ripped the head off the hellhound and threw it at another. Its b***d gushing out and covering her. Riley then used the corpse to jump and catch one of the harpy’s legs.

She made quick work to start clawing and ripping off limbs and wings before jumping to the next one. When Riley missed grabbing a harpy that had moved out of the way she fell and landed on her feet and hands like a cat. By this point, my sister was covered from head to toe in the black b***d of these monsters. She growled that she missed her prey, but then turned to the wolves in Aunt Natalia’s barrier. Her eyes glowed brighter with b***d l**t as she started walking towards them. “What is she doing?!” Alpha Raphael roared. “Don’t worry, she can not break Aunt Natalia’s barrier. Your wolves are safe, but this is why I told you to send them away.” I snapped at him. I was too pissed for respect. He growled at me which was met with Ethan and Terrence growling back at him.

“Kai, what is a berserker?” Jeremiah asked. I glanced to see that Riley’s attention was now back on the hellhounds that had surrounded her and checked my watch. ‘5 more minutes.’ I thought. I turned back to Jeremiah. “A berserker is a warrior that has unimaginable speed and strength, even for a supernatural creature. They fear nothing. The rest will wait until later. My barrier will keep everything out physically, but it is not soundproof.” I said glaring at a few harpies floating around the doors. “A warrior doesn’t reveal all their skills in front of the enemy.” Jeremiah nodded and they left it at that. This wasn’t the plan, but when they decided to attack before the ceremony started. Riley decided to use this to our advantage. Even if she risked the people here to fear her as they do back at home. Ethan and Terrence are the only ones that haven’t looked at her any differently from before, but I see a handful of people looking at my sister as if she was a bigger threat than the hellhounds and harpies.

I looked at my watch and saw that there was only one minute left. There was only one more hellhound left but there were still quite a few harpies in the sky. I need to draw Riley closer to the barrier. I mind linked Terrence. ‘Terrence, you still have that talisman Aunt Kayla gave you?’ I asked. ‘Yes, and this will teleport me to Riley’s side when Kayla activates it right?’ ‘Yes. Once she transforms back into her normal self, she will be too weak to stand. It is still too risky for me to drop the barrier so you will have to pick her up and run.’ I tell him. I see him nod out of the corner of my eye. I raised my hand and put my index finger and thumb in my mouth and let out a loud high pitched whistle. Gaining the attention of a berserker with b***d l**t eyes. Riley charged at me as I continued to whistle.

“What is that boy doing?!” “He is bringing that monster closer to us!” different voices behind me started voicing their opinions, but I blocked them out. Riley hit the barrier with full force and growled. She started punching the wall over and over. Trying to break it down. I looked at my watch. ‘5… 4… 3… 2… 1…’ Riley then froze as her hair went back to pink and the red glow of b***d l**t vanished from her eyes. Once she was back to herself, her eyes rolled up into her head. Terrence was then on the other side of the barrier and caught Riley. “TJ!?” Lady Melody cried out. I looked over and saw she was worried and confused. The hellhound was charging at Terrence.

Terrence used his body to shield Riley. Before the hellhound could sink its teeth into him, a massive wolf barreled into the hellhound. The wolf jumped right unto the hellhound and sank its teeth into the hellhound’s throat and ripped out its flesh. Once the hellhound dropped to the ground, the wolf let out a massive and powerful howl. I was stunned and relieved to see the wolf I missed so much. I sunk down to my knees as I saw the wolf stand between Terrence, with an unconscious Riley in his arms, and a small army of harpies in the sky. That wolf was none other than my mother. “Mother.” I said in a soft voice.
