Melody’s POV

I woke up on a hard surface with my wrists and ankles chained. I felt the burning sensation of silver. I sat up from the floor and looked around the room. The room was barely lit except for a few torches. I strained my eyes to focus around the dim light. The air was stale so I concluded I was in a room with no windows. So I can’t tell where I was or what time of day it was. The whole room smelled of stone and ash. I wondered where I was.

“Ah, the sleeping princess is finally awake.” A voice called out. I snapped my head in the direction of the voice. I saw a tall lean man with silver hair and bright red eyes walk into the room from the small door on the right. “Who are you?” I growled. He simply smirked. “Come now my dear. Are you not smart enough to figure that much out at least?” He said in a teasing tone. It almost sounded like the tone my brothers used when they joked with me. “Estarossa.” I said. Studying him. He smiled and clapped his hands. “Bravo, give the girl a gold star.” he laughed sadistically as he walked over to me.

Once he was in front of me, he knelt down to be face to face with me. “You are going to help me finally get what I deserved all those years ago.” He said softly as he patted my cheek. I turned my face away from his hand and glared at him. “I will not help you kill Jasmine. You have caused her enough pain.” I growled out. Estarossa’s eye flashed with sadness before he quickly covered it up with a wicked laugh. “Hahaha. Oh my dear you misunderstand. I will kill that wrench myself. What I need from you is help in creating my own beast form.” He said. I ignored his statement about killing Jasmine and focused on what I saw in his eyes for a second.

“Estarossa, you miss your sister… don’t you?” I asked. Again I see sadness flash through his eyes, but once again he tried covering it up with hate filled words towards Jasmine and the others. “What possibly makes you think that? Me… miss that backstabbing younger spawn of our parents? We once shared the womb of our mother, but that thing that came out after me robbed me of everything that should have been mine!” He screamed. He was showing emotions now. With my chained wrist… I reached for him and grabbed his hand. Trying to use my gift to connect with him. It worked for a moment before he ripped his arm out of my grasp.

I never tried it on someone that had no wolf or inner soul before, so I guess my gift worked differently this time. In the few seconds I held onto him. I had seen into some of his memories. I saw a young boy always standing in the shadow of his siblings. One that was younger than him and one that was not even of b***d to him. All for something that was out of his control. This hatred in his heart was nothing more than the jealousy and loneliness he had felt all those years that everyone compared him to Parker and Jasmine.

“Don’t you ever touch me again.” He said in a slightly panicked voice as he turned and stormed out without another glance back at me. I know he saw what I saw. That tone in his voice told me one thing about Estarossa. His biggest fear is having no control and he has no control over me. “Are you going to just sit there in the shadows or are you going to say something?” I said. I felt another presence come in with Estarossa, but it stayed behind when he left.

“Wow, such a clever moon princess. Makes it so hard to believe that you were so easily captured.” A female voice sounded. I rolled my eyes at the comment before I looked in the direction of the voice and saw a ghost girl floating in the corner. “You are the one pulling the strings… aren’t you?” I asked in a cold voice. I felt nothing but negative energy coming off of this ghostly being in front of me. She clapped her hands. “Wow, you really are a smart one. Yes. My name is Ultear.” She said with a wicked smile. “So what are you using him for?” I asked. I know Jasmine and the others had their theories, but I could get some real answers now. “My true love is the Demon Lord Leviathan. Estarossa is just the perfect tool to release him from his prison.” She said. “I made him believe that he and I are meant to be, so he will do anything I say.” She added.

“You are using his feelings against him!” I growled as I stood up. I reached for the specter out of anger, but the chains prevented me from moving forward anymore. “Yes, I did.” She said smugly “He was so smart and talented in his craft, despite not having a beast soul, but the more people compared him to Jasmine and Parker… the more he felt jealous and alone and that made him easier to control.” Ultear said. I growled at her. “The only thing that Estarossa needs is a stronger body before my lord is released. So you will be needed very soon, my dear.” She said as she tried to pat my head like a little puppy, but her hand just went through my head. Though her bone chilling presence sent shivers down my spine. “And using someone of his bloodline makes this even sweeter.” She said before she disappeared.

‘His bloodline? I wonder who she was talking about.’ I thought to myself. What I know for certain is that Estarossa is being used as a pawn to bring this demon lord back to the mortal world. I need to figure out a way to get out of here and hopefully free Estarossa of his own chains too.

Third Person’s POV

‘What the hell was that?’ Estaross asked himself over and over after he had left Melody’s room. He was shaken from what had just happened. Melody had seen into his past like it was written into his soul. He felt as weak as he did when he was a boy.

The old him that was scared that his family only tolerated him instead of loving him. Then he started hearing the voices from the past in his head once again. ‘What are we going to do? Estarossa can’t become the next alpha. He is only human.’ the voice of his dead mother echoed in his head. “We will just have to make Jasmine the next alpha. With two beast souls she will keep the clan safe.’ his father’s voice replied.

He knew it… everyone in his clan looked down on him for being human, despite the fact that he was the son of the alpha of their clan. ‘How did our alpha get a human child?’ One voice said. ‘He is just a burden to the alpha household.’ Another voice chimed in. ‘He will bring disgrace upon our clan.’ Another one said. “No. Shut up. Shut up. SHUT UP!” Estarossa chanted over and over as he made his way to his table of elixirs and potions. He quickly grabbed a vial and mixed up a batch of an orange liquid. Once he finished making it, he downed the contents in one go. Making the voices in his mind fade until they finally went quiet. “I must be very careful about letting that girl touch me.” He said to himself as he slid down to the floor panting, unaware of someone watching him.

Eos looked into the spring water. She was watching Estarossa calm himself after seeing bits of the past that he wished to forget. “Oh Estarossa, the more you fight Melody, the more pain you will suffer.” She said in a quiet tone. Eos had felt some pity for Estarossa since he was born. The hatred of her older brother had dripped into this mortal’s soul, and her older sister thought that he was born evil. “I pray that the little moon princess can see what I see and save you from not only yourself but from that monster.” She said in a small voice.
