Summary

Brother and sister Leith and Pippa are packed off to Camp Damble for the summer ... or until they can escape from the creatures, the counsellors and a headless monster that roams the forest at night. Pippa and Leith, a sister and brother who've been packed off to camp for the summer, haven't even arrived at Camp Damble when things start to go haywire. The bus driver stops in the middle of nowhere, orders everybody out, and says he is going to leave them "for the creatures." Making it safely inside the grounds (after a skirmish), they replace things no less strange. The counsellors are ruthless and robotic, alternately sappy and sinister; a wild-eyed escapee warns of terrible danger; and what is it that links a black bungalow in the forest to the legend of Headless Henry? How come kids keep disappearing, only to reappear with their rebellious personalities subdued? And why are those who don’t toe the line suddenly so accident-prone? Returning from an uncharacteristically enjoyable day out, they replace a fence thrown up around the camp - a fence pulsing with electricity. Is it to keep something out ... or to keep them in? Realising that Pippa is next in line "for the treatment," whatever that is, Leith must make his way inside the Black Bungalow, risking his life as he struggles to solve a terrifying puzzle and vanquish a madman - in so doing, unleashing a terrible vengeance.
