Love at the Door -
Chapter 45
Chapter 45
Andrew’s injuries were on his back, so he was lying sideways with his back facing Melina.
He was actually just resting his eyes. He wasn’t asleep yet.
After Melina came into the room, Andrew’s breathing slowed as he fell asleep.
In the night, the antique clock in the room ticked on. It was almost like it was going to go on forever.
After a while, Melina, who was tired, had finally felt sleepy. She was about to close her eyes when Andrew suddenly moved. He looked like he was about to change sleeping positions.
Melina sat up in shock. If he were to change positions, he would aggravate the wound.
She rushed down from the sofa without her slippers, ran hastily to Andrew, and held his shoulder.
She held her breath. She was afraid that she would wake Andrew.
Melina knew that Andrew was extremely cautious and would wake up easily.
At this time, she was holding onto Andrew. Her face was filled with anxiety.
Andrew wasn’t able to change his sleeping position, so he didn’t continue to do so. He remained sleeping on his side.
Melina breathed a sigh of relief.
What Melina didn’t know was that Andrew was way more cautious than she understood. Usually, when Andrew was asleep, any
movements around him, or the presence of anyone beside him would
spike his cautiousness.
No one would believe him if he were to tell them now that he was still able to continue sleeping with someone walking around him while pushing on his shoulder.
Melina retracted her hand after she saw that Andrew had stopped moving.
She was worried that Andrew’s movements would aggravate his wound, so she decided to sit beside Andrew’s bed. She was no longer going to sleep.
She didn’t put her slippers on. This would allow her to be extra quiet.
Melina sat quietly at the side of the bed. She looked at Andrew, and her gaze slowly softened.
Melina had only ever received a very little amount of love, so every bit of it was extremely important to her.
When Mr. Clay rescued her all those years ago, he told her to work. hard in her studies so she could get out of the mountains. So, she worked extremely hard in her studies and got into the prestigious Cyntia University.
She didn’t want to disappoint Mr. Clay.
After that, Mr. Wentworth Senior sponsored the children of the mountains for several decades and was kind to her like family.
So, she was willing to marry Andrew, whom she had never met, as long as it would make Mr. Wentworth Senior happy.
That was why, now that Andrew was kind to her and had risked his own life to save her, Melina wanted to give Andrew everything good in life if she could.
Melina was too naive.
The tricks that Toby and Andrew played on Melina had easily struck a chord in her heart.
Melina watched over Andrew by his bed the entire night to ensure he could sleep well without aggravating his wound.
When the sun was almost up, Melina snuck downstairs quietly to make some food so when Andrew got up his breakfast would be ready.
Frankly, Andrew woke up the moment Melina left.
It had been a long while since he was able to sleep well through the night. He looked at the side of his bed and saw that there were
creases, indicating that someone had sat there. Andrew’s eyes flashed.
“She watched over me through the night? What a great actress,” he thought.
Andrew’s eyes slowly shifted back into their apathetic state. “It’s fine; everyone’s pretending anyway,” he thought. All he needed was to get her back, he didn’t care what she thought.
Downstairs, Toby had come over to change Andrew’s dressing.
The moment Toby entered the door, he greeted Melina with a smile. ” Hi, Mrs. Wentworth. Your dark circles are very prominent. Did you not sleep last night?”
“No, I d–did.”
She did lie down for a while; she just didn’t fall asleep.
Toby looked at Melina’s bloodshot eyes and decided not to expose her.
Melina was quick to reply. “Dr. Ludwig, you can go ahead. I’m still cooking.

“The stove is still on. I’ll be up there in a bit.”
Toby nodded and went upstairs.
Melina quickly finished making breakfast and turned off the stove.
When she went up and opened the room door, she saw Toby
removing the bandages from Andrew’s back.
