Love at the Door
Chapter 49

Chapter 49

That afternoon, Andrew went back to his office.

Melina initially took sick leave to take care of Andrew. Now that the person she was supposed to take care of wasn’t home, she suddenly had free time on her hands.

She was a little down, but she hid all her unhappiness when she was with Andrew. The injuries on Andrew’s back were enough for her to compromise.

Melina was itching to do something to distract herself. She was suddenly reminded that there was something that she hadn’t done.

She whipped out her old phone and gave Louis a call.

Yesterday, when Louis brought her out, he said that he would give her a job.

He even

him.

gave her his phone number just so he could make her follow

Now that the call was connected, she heard Louis roar, “Who is this?”

“Louis, it’s Melina. I’m calling to ask you about the job you promised me yesterday.”

The person on the other end of the phone was stunned.

Louis had not expected at all for that woman to actually call him. He couldn’t help but blurt out, “Are you stupid? How dare you still call me for a job?”

After what had happened yesterday, even though he was one of the more courageous ones among his friends, he still had to rest till now to recover from it.

The audacity of this woman actually give him a call!

Melina was calm as she replied, “Why wouldn’t I? These are two completely unrelated things. If you bully me, I’ll beat you up. Since your promised me this, you should fulfill your promise.”

Louis thought Melina was ridiculous, but at the same time, what she said made sense.

He was so angry he snorted. “Okay, come look for me at the Opulent Villa if you dare.”

There was nothing Melina wouldn’t do, so she flung her canvas bag on her shoulders and left the house.

After asking around, she finally found her way to the Opulent Villa.

When she saw it, she finally understood its name. The villa was extravagantly opulent indeed.

It looked like a castle with its door open. It had a gigantic sky–blue pool. Louis was lying on the pool chair with his printed swim shorts, wrapped in a colorful, printed towel.

He held raw meat in his hand and was feeding it to a rottweiler.

Melina felt her eyes burn as she watched the scene before her.

After seeing that Melina had arrived, Louis smirked and released the rottweiler’s restraints.

He said playfully, “Onyx, can’t you see that we have guests? Go on, welcome her.”

It was almost like the rottweiler could understand what Louis had said because it ran immediately toward Melina with its teeth bared. There were still remnants of raw meat on its teeth.

In a situation like this, even men

t just women, would–be terrified.

The dog looked bigger than Melina, but she was not afraid.

She had seen it all in the mountains. She wasn’t even afraid of wolves, so of course she was not afraid of a rottweiler.

Melina’s gaze suddenly became sharp as she glared at the rottweiler.

The rottweiler who had its teeth bared suddenly stopped in its tracks.

Animals would normally be more sensitive to danger than humans would be.

The rottweiler felt a domineering presence exuding from the human before it.

It stopped in its tracks.

Melina reached out her hand and walked towards the rottweiler.

She patted the rottweiler on its neck.

The rottweiler felt the fur on its neck stand. It felt like this human was going to break its neck, so the rottweiler shook its tail toward Melina, trying to get into her good books.

Louis was speechless.

This was an animalistic surrender from one being to a stronger, more ferocious being.

All in all, the rottweiler was still a house pet. It didn’t have the barbaric qualities of a wild animal.

Melina walked past the rottweiler toward Louis, who was by the pool.

Louis was flabbergasted.

Onyx was a spoiled brat who was naturally cocky. Aside from a dainty. little girl, even if a burly man were to come, it would dash forward to intimidate him.

Today, Louis wanted to put it all on the line since he remembered how aggrieved Linda was. He didn ven care if Andrew would get mad.

He just wanted Melina to be scared out of her wits,

Who knew that it would be Onyx that was scared out of its wits instead?

Melina already made her way to stand beside Louis. Before he could say anything, she kicked him into the pool.

She had wanted to teach Louis a lesson. Today, she would vent all her frustrations.
