Love at the Door -
Chapter 50
Chapter 50
The bodyguards who were standing around were shocked.
Louis choked on pool water a few times. His head just broke through the surface of the water when a hand pressed down from the top. onto his shoulders. He was pushed back into the water once more.
The bodyguards rushed over and yelled, “Stop it! What are you doing?”
“Let Mr. Pritchet go now!”
Melina was too vicious. With Louis in her hands, the bodyguards who were around didn’t dare rush over to do anything to her.
Melina grabbed a fistful of Louis‘ shirt and lifted him out of the water.
Watching how a walking Christmas tree had turned into a sloppy wet mess, Melina was very solemn as she reprimanded, “You don’t have, to be kind, Louis, but you shouldn’t be evil.
“Don’t you know how aggressive rottweilers could be? Don’t you know how strong their bites are? It’s a good thing I was the one who was here today.
“If it was someone else, you could have destroyed them.”
Louis was coughing non–stop. He only recovered after a long while. He roared in rage, “Onyx only looks scary but he doesn’t bite.
“I was just pulling your leg and y–you called me evil?”
Melina found it very amusing for a frat boy who went around freely bullying everyone else to mind very much when someone else called him evil.
Melina pushed him into the water once more and spat, “Pulling my leg? Did you know that if a person is frightened, their reaction could have triggered the rottweiler?
“And, did you also know that if someone who has a fear of heights. was suddenly thrown into a situation where heights were involved, it could kill them?”
Louis‘ eyes were wide open. “I-|–”
“What about it? You didn’t know that, didn’t you? You were unaware of all these yet you did whatever you wanted. That’s evil!”
Louis was stunned. He stopped struggling.
At that moment, Melina’s eyes shone like stars in the summer night.
Half an hour later, Melina got the job she wanted.
She left Opulent Villa happily.
She initially thought that when the bodyguards rushed over to her, she would have to endure some beatings as well since she beat Louis up, but Louis chose to let her leave instead.
She couldn’t explain it. Maybe Louis had his head submerged in the water for too long.
Melina looked at the job she had gotten. It was a tutoring job for a 10th–grade student.
It was a two–hour job every evening with weekends off. It didn’t interfere with her fishmongering job at the market at all.
Melina was a straight–A student. This was a given since she could get into one of the best universities in Cyntia from where she was in the mountains.
She felt like she had no problem tutoring a 10th–grade student at all.
The highlight of this job was the very high pay.
It paid an hourly rate of 500 dol’s!
If she was getting paid 500 dollars an hour, and it was a ten–hour–a-
week tutoring job, it meant that she could earn five thousand dollars
a week.
There were four weeks in a month, and that would amount to a whopping 20 thousand dollars a month!
Melina had never dreamed of owning that much money in her life.
Moreover, she was getting paid after every tutoring session too.
At that moment, she thought Cynua was great. The cost of things. may be really high but the pay was really good.
Other than buying yummy treats for Andrew, she didn’t need to spend a lot of money elsewhere. She would be able to save most of her money and send it back to Beacon Elementary School so the children could have new school tables this year.
Melina was really happy. She was so happy she thought Louis was not as annoying as he was before.
An hourly rate of 500 dollars was very tempting. The employer also wrote that she could start work at any time.
It was still early in the day, so Melina decided to head there right. away. If she were to waste a day, it would be wasting one thousand dollars. She shouldn’t be wasting any time at all.
The student didn’t live very far away. Melina found her way there.
It was a house that was situated deep in a tree–lined path. It has a beautiful view. Its surroundings were serene and aesthetically pleasing.
Melina smiled and knocked on the door.
“Hello, I’m Melina Crawford. I’m the tutor that was arranged to come.”
“You’re… the tutor?” Alfred Higgins, the butler in a suit, looked
doubtful at the sight of Meli…
Chanter so
Melina nodded in all seriousness. “Yes. I may look young, but I’m of legal age. Here’s my admission letter to Cyntia University. Prit… Louis Pritchet told me about this position.
Melina was a little nervous. She nearly blurted Louis‘ nickname, which was Pritchy Lou.
Upon hearing Louis‘ name, Alfred invited Melina in.
Melina was looking around curiously. It was a big and pretty place with many rooms. She wondered how many people could fit in this place.
Alfred gave Melina a polite reminder. “Please don’t wander around with your eyes or feet.”
