Love at the Door
Chapter 58

Chapter 58

Toby dropped Melina off at Dakread.

“Thank you, Dr. Ludwig, I’ll head inside now. Goodnight

“Melina”

“Hm? Is there something else?”

“No, nothing. Goodnight.”

Toby felt like he was going mad. Just a moment ago, he had the sudden urge to war Melina not to give all her heart to Andrew.

When someone gives themselves to someone completely, the pain they feel when hurt can be devastating.

But in the end, he couldn’t interfere with Andrew’s plans.

With a heavy heart, Toby drove away.

Melina entered the house quietly.

Andrew was likely already asleep. Not wanting to wake him, she washed up and changed into her pajamas in the guest room downstairs before heading up

She gently opened the door to their bedroom, leaving her slippers at the entrance and walking barefoot

across the room

The dim night light cast a faint glow, and she could see that Andrew had already fallen asleep, lying on his side as usual–this time facing the couch

Melina moved silently across the carpet, like a cat, making no sound as she approached his bed and quietly sat down beside him

As she looked at his face, her heart grew heavier

So much had happened in the last few days, and she was still in a daze.

Melina was like a blank canvas, suddenly thrust into a whirlwind of emotions she barely understood. Even her feelings for Andrew were unclear to her

At first, she had thought of Andrew in the same way she thought of Mr. Clay–the man who had saved her from despair.

But something was different

As she watched Andrew’s sleeping face, she realized what was causing her pain–she was jealous.

She was jealous of Andrew’s care for Linda.

She was jealous that they could walk freely and openly, without any need to hide

Andrew had told her he didn’t dislike her, that he didn’t want her to get hurt, and that he wanted to try being a real married couple with her.

But how could there be room for three people in a marriage?

Lowering her gaze, Melina’s heart ached, but even then, she remained quietly by Andrew’s side.

Exhausted from days of staying up and not having rested properly during the day, she soon drifted off, her head resting on the edge of the bed.

In the darkness, Andrew’s eyes opened, filled with a dangerous, predatory intensity as he looked down at the sleeping Melina.

He couldn’t be sure–was Melina truly sincere, or was she cleverly hiding something?

Her emotions were so vivid and so raw–unlike anything Andrew had ever experienced in his life.

Slowly, the fierce hostility in his gaze began to fade. He thought of the upcoming gala–he’d see then.

He would see if Melina used Mr. Wentworth Senior’s influence to reveal her true identity.

“Melina, don’t disappoint me.”

Andrew didn’t realize that his thoughts were shifting–that he was starting to want to trust her.

If Linda knew what he was thinking, she would have been furious–so much so that she might’ve wanted Melina gone for good.

Deep down, Andrew was the type to trust no one. Even someone as seemingly special as Linda knew she’d never fully earn his trust.

Not even his grandfather, Mr. Wentworth Senior, could claim Andrew’s complete confidence.

Yet here he was, holding expectations for Melina, hoping she wouldn’t betray him.

Andrew hadn’t even noticed the subtle way his heart had begun to lean toward her.

At 5:00 am, Melina woke up, her arm numb from where she had fallen asleep at the edge of the bed.

The first thing she did was check on Andrew, making sure he hadn’t rolled onto his injury.

Then she gently massaged her tingling arm, scolding herself for falling asleep when she was supposed to stay up and watch over him.

Just then, she felt a gaze on her.

Her movements froze as she looked up–Andrew’s deep, piercing eyes were staring right at her.
