Love at the Door -
Chapter 85
Chapter 85
Melina thought that someone like Andrew would never understand her situation. As it was, she realized that his initial display of pleasantness had merely been for show. Deep down inside, he was a cold and callous person.
Although she didn’t understand why he risked his life to save her, she knew he wouldn’t understand the way she felt.
Since he remained silent, she started walking off. “I’m heading off now, Andrew. See you.”
In all honesty, Melina felt a little exasperated too. She’d been in Cyntia for less than a month, but she’d already moved residence several times now. Thankfully, she didn’t have much with her.
With her luggage in hand, she made her way past Andrew and went downstairs. After leaving the house, she called Toby.
Andrew didn’t look too good just now. Could it be that his condition had worsened?
She’d decided against asking him about it because she figured he would start suspecting her of having designs again.
When the call didn’t go through, Melina assumed Toby was busy and decided to ask him about it later on.
Meanwhile, back at Andrew’s place, Toby stepped out of the study. After seeing the incoming call, he glanced at Andrew, who was standing still with a dark cloud looming over his head, and decided to avoid answering the call. Instead, he put his phone on silent.
“Andrew.”
“Get lost.”
“Hang on… Listen to what I have to say first.
“I told you to get lost.”
Feeling miffed himself, Toby snapped, “Melina’s right. You really don’t understand anything.”
Andrew couldn’t understand regular human emotions–a person’s wants, needs, and desires. He was so consumed by hatred that he couldn’t think of anything else.

As soon as Toby said that, Andrew abruptly glowered at him.
Toby was startled, but he met Andrew’s gaze and continued, “Am I wrong? After reading all that information, you would’ve come to your own conclusion, but you insisted on trying to provoke Melina by saying those hurtful things.
“You wanted to test her and see if she deserves your trust, but what gives you the right to do that? She has never done you wrong, and she owes you nothing. What gives you the right to bully her as you please?”
Having been friends with Andrew for many years now, Toby was one of the few people Andrew trusted somewhat. In the past, no matter what it was, regardless of right and wrong, Toby would unconditionally take Andrew’s side, even if he knew that Andrew was being unreasonable.
But this time, he was confronting Andrew about the latter’s actions.
Eyeing Toby fixedly, Andrew asked, “Have you actually fallen in love with Melina?”
With a wry smile, Toby replied, “I just think she’s too naive and pitiful. You don’t need to be wary of me, Andrew. I know you two are married, and I know how important she is to you. I won’t harbor any sort of feelings for her.”
Andrew withdrew his gaze.
Sighing, Toby added, “Melina just called me. I’m guessing she wanted to ask about your condition. Even after what happened yesterday, she still called me to ask that I come over and check on your injury. Andrew, you’ve done your investigations, and you’ve asked all the questions you wanted. Let’s tend to your wound now.”
Since yesterday, Andrew’s wound hadn’t been disinfected or redressed. He needed to keep it away from water until it scabbed over, but not only did he get it wet, he even jumped into the murky pond water. There was no doubt that the wound was affected somehow.
However, Andrew abruptly walked off.
“Where are you going, Andrew?” Toby hastily called out.
It looked as if Andrew had thought things through. Even the gloomy air that hung around him earlier had mostly vanished.
“You’re right. She doesn’t owe me anything. I’ve decided to be nicer to her. I’m heading back to the Wentworth residence. I’ll stay there for a while.”
by was utterly dumbfounded. Was it Andrew who’d just spoken? Would the Andrew he knew say such things?

“Huh? You’re going back there all of a sudden?” Toby exclaimed, still feeling rather
dazed.
“Can’t I?” Andrew replied matter–of–factly. “I’m a Wentworth, aren’t I? What’s wrong with me moving back into the Wentworth residence?”
“No, that’s not it… There’s nothing wrong with that, but shouldn’t you at least let me tend to the wound on your back first?”
