Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1027: Pulling the Hook
The days passed quietly for two days and so as not to interfere with Eloise's recuperation, Hector asked Thomas to send the two little ones back to City J.
On the day he left, Sweety hugged Eloise's neck and cried so hard.
"I don't want to be separated from Mummy, I want to stay with Mummy."
Solomon's eyes were red even though he wasn't crying.
Eloise couldn't help but get her eyes wet too when she saw the baby crying with a red nose.
"Why don't we let them stay a few more days." Eloise turned her head to look at Hector.
"No." Hector's attitude was firm.
Eloise's body should be resting now and couldn't take care of two children.
Sweety cried louder when she heard this, "Daddy is bad, I don't like daddy anymore!"
Hector cried and laughed, and patiently coaxed, "Sweety, Mummy is not well, you stay here, Mummy has to be distracted to take care of you. When she gets better, daddy will bring you over, okay?" The crying stopped abruptly and Sweety blinked her big eyes at him, "Really?"
Hector smiled, "Of course it's true. When has daddy ever lied to you?"
Sweety sniffled, "Then... you must come and pick us up when mummy gets well."
Sweety said, holding out her hand, "Hook up."
Hector pulled the hook with her and stroked her little head, "Sweety is so good."
He stroked Solomon's head too, "Solomon, take good care of your sister, okay?"
Solomon nodded heavily just like a little man, "Don't worry Daddy, I will."
Thomas carried Sweety over to him, "Prince, Miss Eloise, we're off."
Eloise snuggled into Hector's arms and watched Thomas's car drive away until it was out of sight.
"I'm so sad to see them go." Eloise couldn't help the sourness in the tip of her nose.
Hector laughed, "It's not like we're not going to see them again, we'll go back to City J when you're better."
"Okay." Eloise turned her head to look at him, "Let's go inside."
Hector took her hand and they walked into the old house in harmony.
Meanwhile, the Khan Group.
The large conference room is unusually quiet and tense.
Edgar's handsome face was tense as he swept his gaze over each of the directors present and spoke slowly, "I'm sorry, but I haven't found out what happened in the warehouse fire." Mr Cranshaw's eyebrows tightened and he looked at him with concern.
The other directors looked at me and looked at you with different expressions.
One of the directors questioned, "We gave you two weeks and you're telling us that you haven't found out, isn't that ridiculous?"
"Yes, you've let us down."
"I thought Grandpa Khan's chosen heir was so good, but that's all he is."
"I don't think Khan Group will end up well in his hands."
...
A few people chimed in, words of discontent with Edgar.
They were all from Arlice and it was normal that they would say that.
So Edgar didn't take it personally, he explained without panic, "The man who injected Frankson with the poison hasn't been found yet, the police have said they've got something and will have the results in the next few days." "In the next few days? Are you going to ask us to give you a few more days?"
Edgar turned his head to the director who had asked the question and the corner of his mouth curled up, "It would certainly be best if you would."
The man and the man beside him looked at each other and dismissed it in a firm voice, "No way! There is no way we can give you a few more days."
At this point, Mr Cranshaw spoke up, "Since the police have said that they can catch the man in the next few days, it is only right that we give a few more days."
If it was before, those men would still be afraid of Mr Cranshaw, but now they no longer had Mr Cranshaw in their sights.
"Mr Cranshaw, what guarantee are you going to use this time? You used your reputation as a guarantee before, but your reputation is not worth much now." Anyone could hear the sarcasm in this man's words.
Edgar furrowed his brow in displeasure, "Mr Cranshaw founded the Khan Group with my grandfather, he's senior to you, so watch your manners!"
The man's face turned red when he said that in front of so many people, and he shouted angrily, "He's senior, but he's confused! He's confused for supporting your sorry ass!"
Edgar was about to retort when Mr Cranshaw beat him to the punch, "I admit I'm confused, but Edgar is not a douche bag, would Rogers Group have agreed to work with him if he wasn't capable?" "Rogers Group?" the man snorted, "Who doesn't know that the chairman of Rogers Group is his Hector? It's clearly a backdoor job!"
"So Mr Hector is also Arlice's Hector, so why isn't he working with Arlice and the others?" Mr Cranshaw asked him rhetorically.
The man was blocked from speaking for a moment.
Mr Cranshaw smiled and continued, "Mr Hector may be young, but he's better than everyone here, doesn't he know how to read people? It's because he knows how to read people that he chose Edgar!" At this time, Mr Cranshaw was still willing to speak up for himself, and Edgar was really grateful.
"Mr Cranshaw is right, Edgar's ability is not bad, just that he is still young and definitely not as bold as his grandfather in dealing with things, with more experience for a while, I believe he will get better and better." "Yes, let's not push too hard, let's give the young man a chance."
"I also agree with giving him more of a chance."
...
Apart from the few directors who were on Arlice's side, everyone else spoke up, willing to give Edgar a few more days.
Those few directors' faces turned ugly when they saw that the situation was not right.
"We don't agree to give him any more time, and the president must be replaced today." The men were still insisting.
Mr Cranshaw smiled, "Fine, who are you going to replace then?"
The men looked at each other, "Arlice."
No surprises there.
Mr Cranshaw turned his head to Edgar, "Are you willing to give up your position as president?"
"No." Edgar replied with a slight lift of his chin and a determined look.
"Fine then, it just so happens that I don't agree with the change."
Mr Cranshaw looked at the others and asked, "What about you? Agree to the switch?"
"Are you guys thinking that you can just switch at will?" Someone stood up disgruntled and looked at the men, "Grandpa Khan had an accident and the Khan Group almost went into chaos, but fortunately he had chosen a successor beforehand and was able to stabilise the hearts and minds of the group's employees."
"Now you are asking for a replacement, are you planning to shake up the entire group again? Do you want outsiders to see the joke?"
In the face of the questioning, those few people lowered their heads, not daring to retort.
They had only said that because they had been ordered to do so by Arlice, but now that the situation was out of their control, they dared not say anything else.
Mr Cranshaw got up, "So, those who agree to give Edgar a few more days, please state your position."
Apart from those few people, the others raised their hands.
Mr Cranshaw showed a relieved smile and raised his voice, "Then let's give Edgar another three days, I believe he will give us a satisfactory result."
