Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1044: Staying in the dark

Raimunda broke down emotionally in an instant when she heard this and she cried out for Manzanares to save her.

But Manzanares refused both ruthlessly.

"This is of your own making, just suffer."

"Mr. Manzanares, I never thought you would be so heartless to your own friends." Pierce said meaningfully.

Manzanares sighed heavily, "There is an old saying in our country, "When the son of God breaks the law, he is as guilty as the common people. What it means is that everyone is equal before the law, even if you are the king of the heavens." Pierce looked educated, "So that's how it is."

"So, let her go to prison and reflect on herself."

Manzanares looked deeply at Raimunda who, in turn, looked particularly wretched with her tear-stained face and red, swollen cheeks.

He quietly clenched his hand in his trouser pocket, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly, "If there's nothing else, I'll leave you to it." With those words, he turned around and was about to leave.

"Wait."

Pierce gestured for his men to stop him.

Manzanares turned around and jokingly said, "Mr Pierce, are you saying you don't want me to leave?"

Pierce looked at him with a smirk, "Mr. Manzanares, I hope you're not lying to me, or the SA Group won't let you go."

"Don't worry about that, how dare I deceive you?" Manzanares was all smiles.

Pierce nodded, "Off you go."

Manzanares swept Raimunda out of the corner of his eye, and the moment he turned his head his face sank as he strided out the door. When he reached the lobby on the ground floor of the hotel, he met up with Perez and Rosero, who had entered in a hurry on their feet. "What brings you guys here?" Manzanares looked at them in amazement.

Both Perez and Rosero were relieved to see him safe and sound.

"It wasn't because I was afraid you were in danger." Rosero looked behind him, "Where's Raimunda?"

"Upstairs."

Perez and Rosero looked at each other in confusion and asked, "Aren't you here to save her?"

"Can't save." Manzanares felt a pang of annoyance at the thought of Raimunda's wretched state.

"So you're going to give up on her?" Rosero asked.

"No."

Manzanares glanced sideways behind him and whispered, "Go back and say that someone is watching."

At that, both Rosero and Perez looked behind him, and sure enough there were two men standing not far away, looking like they were talking, but actually staring at them. "Let's go."

Manzanares led the way out of the hotel and the others hurriedly followed.

Once they reached the car, Manzanares said, "Rosero, go to City J yourself and give the flash drive to Hector."

"Okay." Rosero nodded his head in response.

A silence fell in the carriage for a long time before Manzanares spoke again, "Pierce is going to take Raimunda to the police station and charge her with stealing trade secrets." Perez raised the tip of his eyebrow, "Which means Raimunda's life is saved."

At that, he laughed lightly, "If you keep your life, you won't be afraid to burn it. We'll replace a way to bail her out when the time comes." Manzanares nodded, "That's what I was thinking."

Although Raimunda was just a henchman he had trained to do his bidding, she was good enough that he couldn't just part with her.

...

When Edgar returned to the office, the first thing he did was to have Ivor compile evidence that Arlice had sold the herbs privately to SA Group.

Although it was impossible to get Arlice to admit that he had instructed Taurino to inject Frankson with the poison, the board would not let him off lightly on the sale of the herbs alone. "President, here's what you asked for." Ivor handed the collated evidence to Edgar.

Edgar took it and looked down to read it carefully.

After reading it, the corners of his mouth curled up, "I'd like to see how he, Arlice, is going to argue at the board meeting."

"Do you want me to call the directors to a meeting now?" Ivor asked.

Edgar looked up at him and raised an eyebrow, "Isn't there still a day left? When the deadline is up, they will naturally come to the meeting of their own accord."

Ivor frowned, "But if we drag this out, aren't you afraid that Mr Arlice will take advantage of the situation and destroy the evidence?"

"He can't."

If he could, he wouldn't be held hostage by Hector.

As Edgar had said, because there was no way to destroy the evidence, Arlice was trying to figure out how to excuse himself from the board meeting a day later. "Arlice, if there's no way out, just say I did it." Farabee suggested.

For the sake of his son's future, he was a father who couldn't help but stand up for himself.

Arlice stared at him for a long time without saying anything.

"It's the only thing to do now, just do as I say." Farabee advised.

"Dad, I'm sorry."

Hearing Arlice's apology, Farabee shook his head in a rush, "You don't have to apologise, as long as you're well, Dad will do anything."

"Dad, I won't let you suffer for nothing. I'll get it all back later." Arlice clenched his fists and gritted his teeth.

Farabee smiled in relief, "I'm sure you can do it."

"By now Edgar must have the evidence ready to expose me at the board meeting, but we can't stay in a passive position, we'll have to replace a way to get back in the game when the time comes." This time, no matter what, he didn't want to look too bad.

"Don't worry, I know what to do." Farabee looked like she had a good idea.

Arlice gave a rare smile, "Dad, I'll leave it to you then."

Farabee nodded, "Leave it all to me."

...

After Hector left, Eloise's whole body was unmotivated and she spent the morning in bed.

Even lunch was brought to her room by Brimlad.

"You really can't leave Hector alone," Brimlad said, looking at Eloise, who had buried her head in her food, with both helplessness and amusement.

Eloise looked up and grimaced, "I'm not inseparable, I'm just not used to it."

She was used to having Hector with her every day, and suddenly she was at a loss for words without him.

"Yes, I'm not used to it." Brimlad laughed helplessly.

Eloise thought for a moment and said, "Auntie, I'm bored at home anyway, so let me stay with my mother at the hospital from now on."

Previously, they had refused to let her go to the hospital because of her health, saying that there were so many patients and germs in the hospital that they were afraid she might get infected, which would be bad for her recovery. Brimlad frowned and his expression didn't seem very happy about it.

Eloise hastened to persuade her, "Don't worry, Auntie, I'm fine. And I'm not that fragile, really."

"Before Hector left, he explained that I was to take good care of you." Brimlad said, "So I can't let any more problems happen to you."

"Auntie, I'm begging you." Eloise deflated, pleading pitifully.

"Do you want to be there for your mother that badly?"

Eloise nodded her head vigorously, "Of course, and I haven't seen my mum for days and I really miss her."

In order to hide the fact that she was not well, they told her mother that she was out on a trip with a friend and couldn't go to the hospital with her for a while.

Seeing that she was pleading so hard, Brimlad softened, "Okay, I'll go with you tomorrow."

When she agreed, Eloise's face lit up with a big smile, "That's very kind of you, Auntie."

"Well, don't flatter yourself. Finish your meal." Brimlad looked at her with no good grace.

"As ordered." Eloise obediently made a gesture and ate the rest of her meal under Brimlad's gentle gaze.
