Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1079: Nothing to do with you

Over the past two days, Katerina had noticed something strange about Rowson, always wandering around the Institute in her free time, leaving almost every corner untouched. "What are you doing?"

On this day, as he had done two days before, Rowson came into the backyard of the Institute and stood on the steps, sweeping his eyes over every monitor on the fence. Katerina had followed him and couldn't really resist asking out loud.

Rowson glanced back at her and did not answer her question.

She walked up to him and looked around the entire backyard, "Is there anything here worth you looking at?"

"Are you so idle?" Rowson turned, his gaze cold as he looked at her.

Katerina snorted, "What? You're allowed here and I'm not?"

Rowson looked at her steadily, not making a sound.

"Okay, I admit I was following you, is that okay?" Katerina confessed frankly.

"You'd better stay away from me."

His tone was cold, and it fell on Katerina's ears, stabbing her raw in the heart.

She laughed out loud, a smile that didn't reach her eyes, "Rowson, you don't think I like you, do you?"

Rowson turned his head to the sunny sky, the corners of his mouth curving up seemingly, "You should know very well what I came to the Institute for, and I don't want to end up dragging you into it." It was the first time he had said something like that to her.

Katerina's sarcastic words suddenly caught in her throat, unable to come out.

She pursed her lips and smiled, "Can I take that to mean that you've found a conscience?"

"Whatever you want to think." Rowson turned his head to look at her, "I just want you to stay away from me."

With that, he gave her a deep look and turned to walk in the direction of the lab.

Katerina turned and watched his long figure drift away until it disappeared around the corner of the corridor.

She lowered her head and smiled softly, hearing human words from him for the first time in all the time she had known him.

Unfortunately, there was no way she could stay away from him anymore.

Katerina wasn't the only one who noticed that something was wrong with Rowson, George did too.

Whatever he'd asked Rowson to do before, he'd readily agreed to, but both days he'd been denied.

"Hey Rowson, are you not wanting to work at the Institute anymore?" George suddenly appeared and stepped in front of Rowson.

Rowson looked up at him with an expressionless face, "I told you, I'm busy these days and I don't have time to help you."

"Busy?" George laughed out loud as if he had heard a joke, "And by very busy you mean hanging around the Institute?" Rowson didn't say anything.

George narrowed his eyes and leaned forward, "Am I to suspect that you're trying to get a feel for the inner workings of the Institute?" Rowson was startled but remained calm, "What are you talking about, I don't understand."

"Don't understand?" George snorted, "Rowson, I'm warning you, you better not get any ideas or Mr Bergerian won't let you off the hook." Having said that, he ordered, as he always did, in a condescending manner, "And go and sort out all the lab equipment." Rowson wanted to refuse but thought about what he had just said and relented, "Yes, I'm on my way."

He walked around George and headed for the equipment room with a grim look on his face.

George turned his head to look at his back and spat, "What a loser."

"George, what did you just say?"

Katerina approached, she had heard George's voice from a distance and heard what he said but wanted to double check. "Katerina, what are you doing here?" George's face was immediately piled with a pleasing smile as soon as he saw it was her.

Katerina returned the smile, "What did you just say to Fu, something about the inner workings of the Institute?"

"Oh, you said that. I mean he's been walking around the Institute for the past two days, like he's figuring out the inner workings of it."

George was just saying that casually, but Katerina took it in.

She frowned slightly, thinking back to how out of place Rowson had been these past few days, and suddenly her pupils fluttered; he couldn't be thinking ... "Katerina, do you have time tonight? Together ..."

Before George could finish his words, he saw Katerina cross over to him and hurried forward.

"Katerina!" George hurried after her, "Do you want to have dinner together tonight?"

"Sorry, I'm not available." Katerina refused without even looking at him.

George was not happy, "Katerina, do you like Fu?"

Katerina kicked her feet up and turned her head, her cold gaze shooting at him, "What did you say?"

George flinched, "Nope, didn't say anything."

"I'm telling you George, my rejection of you has nothing to do with Rowson and I want you to leave me out of this with him."

With that, she gave him a warning glare and left without a backward glance.

George rubbed his nose in sarcasm.

Well, count him out for being self-absorbed.

...

In the evening, Rowson returned to his flat, took out a piece of white paper and laid it flat on his desk, picking up a pencil and drawing on it.

In a few moments, a plan of the Institute's structure appeared on the white paper.

After a few moments of thought, Rowson took an eraser and erased part of the drawing.

He tried to recall every corner of the Institute, trying to draw a diagram without any deviation.

Just then, the doorbell suddenly rang loudly.

He glanced at his watch and furrowed his brow; who could it be at this late hour.

Putting down his pen, he walked to the door.

"Good evening."

The door opened and Katerina walked straight in.

Rowson hurried to stop her, looking at her with displeasure, "What are you doing here?"

"I came to see you, can't I?"

"No."

Katerina couldn't help but smile, clasping her hands to her chest and staring at him good-naturedly, "Rowson, is there something you're not telling me?"

"Yes or no, what does it matter to you?"

"Of course it matters. I won't allow you to do anything against the Institute."

Katerina glared at him, then pushed him right out of the way and strutted inside.

"Katerina!" raged Rowson, rushing after him.

But it was too late; Katerina spotted the floor plan on the desk.

She looked at it carefully, then turned her head and looked at him in disbelief, "Rowson, what are you doing drawing this?"

"Nothing to do with you."

Rowson rolled the paper up and said coldly.

"Nothing to do with me?" Katerina sneered, "George is right, you've really been mapping out the inside of the Institute these past few days. What exactly are you trying to do?" There was no response.

Katerina got angry, "Rowson! Say it, what are you trying to do?"

"What does it matter to you what I do?" Rowson got angry too and yelled at her loudly.
