Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1126: Blockers

"Well?"

Brimlad asked immediately when he saw Eloise put her phone down.

Eloise shrugged, "Gift shopping is done."

Brimlad sighed in relief at that, "Good buy."

She looked at Eloise with a thoughtful look on her face and asked suspiciously, "What's wrong, is there something going on?"

"They just happened to run into Ainsley, cousin is walking someone around the mall at the moment." Eloise said.

Brimlad was amused, "What a coincidence! Now Edgar won't be able to say no."

Eloise smiled and didn't say anything else.

She felt a little sorry for Edwina.

If she hadn't asked people for help, she wouldn't have come across such an awkward situation.

Thinking about it, she sighed softly and apologised to Edwina some other time.

But what she didn't expect was that Edgar was back early.

"I thought you were staying with Ainsley, why are you back so early?" Brimlad glanced at the clock on the wall.

It wasn't even nine o'clock.

"I wasn't with her." Edgar's face didn't look very good.

Brimlad's voice rose a few notches when he heard he wasn't with Ainsley, "Why didn't you stay with her, it just happened to happen?"

"I had work to take care of."

"Work?" Brimlad was furious, pointing at his nose and saying, "Can you think about your relationship if you don't have work on your mind? How are you going to replace a wife and how am I going to have grandchildren if you keep this up?" Edgar cried and laughed, "Mom, I haven't even turned thirty yet, you don't have to be so anxious."

"Are you trying to piss me off?" Brimlad shouted in exasperation.

Eloise came over and patted her on the back, saying softly, "Don't be angry, Auntie, you know how cousin is.

"Then he'll live with his work for the rest of his life." Brimlad grunted.

Eloise laughed, "Auntie, if you say that, cousin might actually do it."

"How dare he!" Brimlad glared at Edgar.

Edgar shook his head helplessly, "Mum, can you not push me so hard? I have my own plans for my life, I have my own plans for when I should get married."

"Fine." Brimlad nodded, "So tell me, when do you plan to get married?"

"When it's meant to be."

This statement set Brimlad on fire again, "Fate, fate, in case fate never comes, are you going to be single for the rest of your life?"

Edgar raised an eyebrow noncommittally.

"Bastard!" Brimlad was so angry that he threw his fist at him a few times, "I think you're just trying to piss your mother off."

"Mum, I'm not." Edgar put his arm around her shoulders and put a pleasing smile on his face, "I promise I won't be single for the rest of my life, I'll replace you a good wife and give you a big, fat grandson." The corners of Eloise's mouth twitched as she listened to his words of coaxing his sister-in-law, this was typical of him to say more than he could do.

It would be a long time before he could replace someone of his own.

Brimlad laughed coldly, "Do you think I'll believe you?"

"Mum, I've got work to do, I'm going upstairs first."

Edgar simply pretended he hadn't heard her question and was heading upstairs in stride.

"Stop right there!" Brimlad bellowed.

Edgar could only meekly retract his foot.

"You're my son, I know exactly what's on your mind." Brimlad said, "You don't like Ainsley, do you?"

Edgar didn't make a sound.

Brimlad continued, "But she likes you a lot, maybe you could try to spend some time with her and see, maybe you'll like her." "No way!"

This time Edgar spoke up, and in a tone of particular certainty.

"Why not, Ainsley is so nice, not only is she pretty and polite, where can you replace a girl like that?"

Brimlad was very impressed with Ainsley, and already thought of her as his future daughter-in-law.

"Mum, can I make up my own mind about my relationship? I really don't like Ainsley," Edgar said helplessly.

If he hadn't seen a different side of Ainsley, he might have listened to his mother and seen how she got along.

But right now, no way was no way.

"So who do you like?" Brimlad pressed.

"I like ...," Edgar paused, momentarily unsure of who to say.

"You don't have a favorite right now, do you?"

A figure flashed through Edgar's mind and he blurted out, "No where, I like Edwina."

Not only was he shocked at this statement, but so were Brimlad and Eloise.

"You like Edwina?!" Brimlad stared at him incredulously.

Edgar's eyes fluttered, "Well, yes, I like Edwina."

He was actually quite unsure of himself, it had come out in the heat of the moment after all.

Eloise looked at him with more than a hint of inquiry.

"How can you like Edwina?" said Brimlad, still not convinced, "She's with a child, who don't you like but her?"

Edwina was nice in person, but the thought of her with a child was unacceptable to Brimlad.

"Well, Auntie, you shouldn't push your cousin too hard, he might not even know if he really likes Edwina himself," Eloise said in a persuasive voice. She did try to set up her cousin and Edwina, but looking at his expression, he might not really like Edwina, he was just using Edwina as a shield. Brimlad sighed, "Fine, let's leave it at that for today. You better think about who you like."

"Got it, Mum."

Edgar threw a grateful look at Eloise and spoke to Brimlad again, "Mum, I'm going upstairs."

"Go on."

Once Edgar was upstairs, Brimlad raised a hand to his chest, his brow locked in a worried frown, "Eloise, he doesn't really like Edwina, does he?" Eloise smiled, "Auntie, whether it's true or not, it's better to go with the flow in matters of affection."

"But I'm really afraid that he really likes Edwina."

Brimlad felt a tightness in his chest at the thought of it.

"Auntie, are you all right?" Eloise asked with concern as she went over to help her.

"I'm fine, I'm angry with that brat." Brimlad sighed heavily, "How nice Ainsley is, why doesn't he like it?"

Eloise was silent for a few seconds, "Sometimes what we see may not be true."

"What do you mean?" Brimlad asked.

"Just literally."

Eloise helped her to sit down on the sofa and added, "Auntie, I'm going upstairs to check on my cousin, so you don't get upset again." Brimlad smiled helplessly, "I got used to it a long time ago, don't you worry."

"I'm going upstairs then."

"Well, go on."

As he watched Eloise run upstairs, Brimlad put away his smile and his expression became stony.
