Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1132: Ordinary Happiness

On the night of his birthday party, Edgar did not leave work early and worked late until almost eight o'clock before he slowly made his way to the Boone Family. On the way, he received a call from his mother, Brimlad.

"You're doing this to me, aren't you?" His mother's voice was full of anger on the other end of the line.

Edgar curled his mouth, "Mum, would you believe me if I said no?"

"Do you think I'd believe it?" Brimlad asked him back.

"No."

The light ahead was red, Edgar eased on the brakes and said, "Mum, there was an impromptu conference call, that's why I'm so late, I didn't mean to." "It better be. Where are you now?"

"On my way to the Boone Family."

"Did you bring the presents?"

Edgar turned his head to the bag on the passenger seat and said back, "Don't worry, I brought it."

"That's good. Remember to say hello to your Uncle Boone, Auntie Boone when you get there, okay?"

She was totally treating him like a child, explaining even the most basic things like that.

He couldn't help but sigh, "Mom, I know. If there's nothing else, that's it for now, I have to drive."

Just as he was about to hang up the phone, Brimlad sharply reminded, "By the way, be nice to Ainsley, okay?"

"Got it, hanging up."

Without waiting for his mother to say anything, he hung up straight away.

He laughed lightly, in fact he was planning to deliver the gift and just leave.

As soon as the light turned green, he started the car and followed the traffic in the direction of the Boone Family villa.

...

When he arrived at the birthday party, the Boone Family's maid led him to Ainsley.

Ainsley was with her parents, a little distracted, turning her head every now and then to look outside.

Noticing this, Acca teased her, "Your mind is already restless even before he arrives."

Ainsley's foot stomped as her own little mind was seen through, "Mum!"

Ainsley's father smiled and said, "You're too old to be a girl."

"Dad, why even you..." Ainsley beamed, glaring at him with displeasure. "What's wrong with me?" Ainsleyâ€TMs father looked bewildered.

"I'm your baby girl, do you want to marry me off to Edgar so badly?"

Speaking of marrying Edgar, Ainsley ducked her head shyly.

"Huh?" Ainsley's father raised his eyebrows in surprise, "So you don't want to marry him, then I'll refuse the marriage."

"No!" Ainsley was furious when she looked up and met Ainsley's father's smiling eyes.

It was instantly clear that he was teasing her on purpose.

She got angry and looked away, "Dad, I'm ignoring you."

Just then, Ainsley's father suddenly said, "Edgar's here."

Ainsley, still angry and thinking he was going to tease her again, stiffened and didn't turn her head, "Dad, I'm not going to believe you." "Uncle Boone, Auntie Boone, how are you?"

It wasn't until the familiar voice sounded in her ears that Ainsley turned her head and looked at the visitor in surprise.

Edgar looked at her with a gentle, light smile and handed over the box in his hand, "Ainsley, happy birthday."

Ainsley stared at him blankly, not hiding the adoration in her eyes.

"Ainsley, why don't you take Edgar's present." Acca nudged her gently.

She snapped back to attention and hurriedly took the gift, "Thank you."

"Come on, open it and see what Edgar got you."

Acca glanced at Edgar and whispered in her daughter's ear.

Ainsley looked at her mother's curious look and was tempted to tell her that she had actually picked out the gift herself. She opened the box.

The smile on Acca's face widened when she saw the diamond necklace inside the box, which at first glance was pricey.

It looked like Edgar was quite taken with Ainsley's birthday.

"It's beautiful." Ainsley looked to Edgar with a slightly embarrassed look, "Edgar, can you put it on for me?"

Edgar frowned at Edwina.

Was asking him to help with the necklace in front of so many people trying to make everyone misunderstand their relationship?

"May I?" Although she could see his reluctance, Ainsley was reluctant to give up.

Acca chimed in, "Edgar, just help out a little."

Edgar couldn't refuse as the elders spoke up, and he picked up the necklace.

Ainsley leaned over.

The two of them were almost close to each other, and the smell of his freshness and cleanliness instantly filled her senses, and her face flushed undeniably. The corners of her mouth turned upwards at the thought of this fine man who would later become her husband.

"Edwina, what are you looking at?"

A voice suddenly rang in her ear, pulling Edwina's wits back, she turned her head and met the concerned gaze of her colleague, Edwina smiled, "Not looking at anything." Her colleague looked in the direction she had just looked and opened her eyes wide in amazement, "Wow, that's not Miss Ainsley's boyfriend, is it? So tall and handsome." Edwina gently tugged at the corner of her mouth, "I think so. Well, don't look, we're not done with our work yet."

She pulled her colleague away, and not far behind them, as soon as Edgar had put on his necklace, he took two steps back to put distance between himself and Ainsley. "Is it pretty, Mum and Dad?" Ainsley showed the necklace to her parents.

Ainsley's father and Acca both nodded their heads in praise, "Beautiful, beautiful. edgar has a good eye."

"That is." Ainsley stepped forward and put her arm around Edgar, "Edgar, I love the necklace you gave me." Edgar tugged at the corner of his mouth, "Really? I'm glad you like it."

She had chosen the necklace herself, could she not like it?

"Mum and Dad, I want to take Edgar to meet my friends, is that okay?" Ainsley asked.

She wanted to introduce such a wonderful man to her friends and assert her sovereignty in the process.

"Yes, of course." Acca smiled and nodded.

"Edgar, let's go."

Without asking Edgar's opinion at all, Ainsley pulled him towards the villa.

Edgar sighed inwardly, he had wanted to give the gift and leave, but now it seemed impossible.

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of a familiar figure.

He hurriedly turned his head to fix his eyes on it, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but rise as he got a better look at the person's appearance. What was she doing here?

Edwina and her colleague were responsible for sorting and arranging the meals on the buffet table.

"Rich people really are rich people, a birthday is so grand." The colleague looked around the elaborate decoration and couldn't help but lament.

"Yes. Like us, it's just a noodle dinner for our birthday at most." Edwina looked up and smiled at her.

Her colleague sighed, "Why does that sound so heartbreaking?"

"It's not heartbreaking, we have ordinary happiness too, don't we?"

Edwina didn't envy Ainsley; to her, she was happy enough with Bonnie.

"But poor."

"Since you know you're poor, why don't you work quickly and watch out for your wages being deducted." Edwina deliberately scared her colleague.

As soon as the colleague heard that, she immediately perked up, "If I work so hard and get paid again, then I won't be happy."

Edwina looked at her colleague who had seriously gotten busy and couldn't help but shake her head and lose her smile.

She turned her head to look at where Edgar was just now, and the person was no longer there.

A bitter smile spread at the corner of her mouth, what was she expecting?
