Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1152: Do you like her?

Edwina led Thomas to a seat.

"You sit down for a while, I'll go and talk to the manager."

Edwina turned to leave when Thomas suddenly grabbed her hand.

She looked back, her eyes falling on the hand that had grasped her wrist, and her thin brow furrowed slightly.

Thomas realised that it was too abrupt and withdrew his hand, smiling shyly, "I meant to ask if I was interrupting your work?" "No, I'm just about to change shifts, no less."

Edwina smiled at him and took a big step towards the counter.

"Is that your boyfriend?" A colleague asked curiously as he came over.

Edwina smiled and shook her head, "No, just a regular friend."

"Really?" Her colleague didn't believe her, "He's been looking at you, is he really just an ordinary friend?"

At that, Edwina looked back towards Thomas and saw him nod politely.

"Don't think too much about it, just normal friends."

Edwina looked around, "Where's the manager?"

"In the back."

Edwina walked to the back and found the manager.

"Manager, I'd like to take some time off."

"A leave of absence?" The manager frowned, "Aren't you about to change shifts? Why do you need to take time off?"

"A friend is here and I want to invite him for a meal."

The manager nodded, "Okay."

Edwina hurriedly bent down and thanked him, "Thank you, manager."

"Well go on, don't keep your friend waiting too long."

The manager looked at her running out and shook his head with a smile.

...

"I'm sorry to keep you waiting."

Edwina took a seat across from Thomas.

"It's okay." Thomas glanced at the menu and asked with a smile, "Any recommendations?"

"Do you eat curry?" Edwina asked instead of answering.

Thomas nodded, "Yes."

"Then you could try the curry and rice we have in the shop, it tastes authentic." Edwina suggested. "Okay, just the curry and rice."

Edwina looked down and ticked off the order list, "Then by the way, I'll order you a soup." "Your call."

Edwina looked up at him and pursed her lips, "You're not afraid I'll order something you don't like."

Thomas raised an eyebrow, "I'm well fed, I can eat just about anything."

Edwina looked him up and down and shook her head in disbelief, "I don't see it."

He was Hector's assistant, how could he not be a picky eater?

Thomas didn't argue, but said meaningfully, "You'll see later."

Edwina didn't think too deeply about it, just smiled and went back down to looking at the order menu.

She didn't notice an imperceptible flash of emotion under Thomas' eyes.

...

Eloise thought Thomas would be back after delivering the biscuits, but he didn't come back until she had put the two to bed.

She pulled out her phone to call and check, when Thomas walked in.

"What took you so long?" She rushed to greet him.

"Had a meal with Miss. Edwina, so I'm a bit late."

At that, Eloise looked at him in surprise, "You had dinner with Edwina?"

Thomas nodded, "Yeah, what's wrong?"

"Nothing, it just seems a bit unbelievable."

Unbelievable indeed, after all, he and Edwina had only met once.

Thomas raised an eyebrow, "Miss. Edwina is a very nice girl, I quite like her."

He was so blunt that he surprised Eloise.

"You... you like her?"

She had hoped to replace a chance to ask him about his impressions of Edwina, but she hadn't expected him to come forward with it. "Yes quite like it."

Eloise frowned, "You want to chase her?"

"No?" Thomas asked rhetorically.

"Yes you can, but be prepared, she should have someone she likes by now." Eloise reminded him kindly.

Thomas frowned, "Does Miss Eloise know who it is?"

Eloise shook her head, "I don't know."

Relationships were supposed to be a matter of each to their own.

"I know, I'll try."

Thomas nodded at her and turned, lifting his feet to leave when he suddenly thought of something and turned back, "Miss Eloise, don't worry, I won't think about my personal affairs until the prince returns." "Actually ..." Eloise wanted to say it didn't have to be like that, he could still talk about his feelings if he wanted to.

Perhaps knowing what she was going to say, Thomas interrupted her, "It is my own intention. Miss Eloise need not think much about it."

With that, he turned to leave.

Eloise couldn't help but laugh, "You really are Hector's handpicked assistant."

The next second, she curbed her smile and her expression turned grave.

Hopefully, this meeting with Bergerian would bring Hector back.

...

Edgar took the necklace home, dropped it casually on the desk in his study and went to his room to change.

When Eloise went in to look for him, she found he wasn't there and was about to turn around to go out, when out of the corner of her eye she caught a glimpse of the half-opened jewellery box on the desk. She went over to help put it away and found that it contained a women's necklace.

Was it a gift?

She smiled as she put the necklace back together and casually complimented it, "Cousin has a good eye."

"Eloise."

Edgar walked in, saw the jewellery box in her hand and rushed forward to snatch it up.

"How can you just touch my things?" Edgar's tone was clearly displeased and his face wasn't very nice.

This was the first time he had ever done this to Eloise.

Eloise was confused for a moment, then she reacted and hurriedly apologised, "Cousin, I'm sorry, I was looking at the jewellery box without closing it, that's why..."

In fact, Edgar wasn't really angry that she had moved the necklace, but rather a depressed anger had been wrapped around his chest since noon.

It was annoying.

He took a deep breath and smiled, shaking his head, "It's fine, you don't have to apologize."

Edgar's jewellery box was tucked away in a drawer.

"Are you in a bad mood, cousin?" Eloise inquired with concern.

"No."

Eloise wrinkled her thin eyebrows, "I see you don't look very well, are you really okay?"

Edgar smiled, "I'm really fine, you don't have to worry."

Eloise nodded, her eyes rolled and she asked curiously, "So who are you giving that necklace to?"

Edgar was silent.

He thought back to what he had seen at lunchtime, and with a tug at the corner of his mouth, he said lightly, "I bought it randomly, I didn't want to give it to anyone. If you like it, you can have it?" "No." Eloise shook her head no, "I can buy it myself if I like."

And she didn't believe him at all, what kind of man buys a random necklace that a woman wears with the intention of giving it away.

It just hadn't gone down well.

But. Which woman would actually refuse his gift?

This was what Eloise was most curious about.

However, he was unwilling to say, and Eloise could not afford to ask again, so she laughed, "You'd better save it for the one you want to give it to."

"No chance of giving it away." Edgar muttered.

The voice was too low for Eloise to hear, "What did you say, cousin?"

Edgar shook his head, "Nothing. By the way, what did you come to see me about?"
