Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1189: I'm doing this for his own good
Eloise thought Edgar would say something, but instead, he just said, "It's late, go to bed early."
And then, he went into the study.
Eloise: "..."
She was tempted to go after him and ask for clarification, but thought that it was his personal matter and it was not good for her to ask too much. Thinking about it, she couldn't help but sigh.
Two days ago, he was still saying that he and Edwina were just ordinary friends, and today he was all sprightly when he had a hotpot with Edwina. I really couldn't understand what he was thinking.
I hope he can sort out his feelings for Edwina and not hurt her.
Eloise glanced into the study and saw Edgar sitting at his desk, looking down at his papers.
She grimaced, reached out and gently closed the door behind her, then went downstairs.
No sooner had she reached the stairs than she was pulled into the dining room by a hand that suddenly reached out.
If she hadn't seen that it was her brother-in-law, Eloise would really have been scared to death.
"Auntie, what are you doing?" Eloise looked at Brimlad with extreme helplessness.
"Who is your cousin with this evening?" Brimlad asked.
Eloise's eyes drifted down, "I don't know."
Look how nice she was, so self-conscious about helping her cousin hide it.
Brimlad narrowed his eyes, "You really don't know?"
"I don't know." Eloise still shook her head.
"I just heard it all." Brimlad was a little annoyed.
Eloise was shocked and hurriedly asked, "Heard what?"
"I heard you ask your cousin if he had fondue with Edwina."
With a raised eyebrow, Eloise asked, "And did you hear your cousin admit it?"
Brimlad stopped talking for a moment.
He hadn't heard her, that's why he was asking her.
Eloise laughed helplessly, "Auntie, don't get any ideas, it was just a passing question, my cousin didn't admit it, who knows who he had hotpot with tonight, maybe Elva?"
"It couldn't have been Elva," Brimlad's tone was very definite.
Eloise couldn't help but be curious, "What makes you so sure it wasn't Elva? Have you come to grips with reality and know that your cousin and Elva are impossible?"
"No." Brimlad shot her an uncomfortable look, "Elva just called me in the evening and said she wanted to come and see me at home. Would she have called me if she was with Edgar?" How could it be such a coincidence?
The corner of Eloise's mouth twitched, how was she supposed to cover for her cousin now?
"It must have been with that Edwina at night." Brimlad was furious, "I've told him not to get too close to people, why doesn't he listen?"
"Auntie, even if cousin and Edwina did have hotpot together tonight, it's still normal dating, so don't go questioning cousin, lest you upset him."
Eloise's reminder made Brimlad even more angry, "What's he upset about? I've told him I want him to hang out with Elva more than Edwina." "But cousin doesn't like Elva." Eloise muttered.
Brimlad grunted coldly, "Like? Does that mean you can help him in his career? If it wasn't for Hector, would he have been able to get a foothold in the Khan Group? At the end of the day, he still needs a strong backing to raise his eyebrows in front of those directors."
Why did that sound so awkward?
Eloise didn't even like it, "Auntie, do you not believe in your cousin's ability?"
Auntie meant well, but if her cousin heard what she said, he would feel even worse than she did.
Surely he would feel that his mother didn't even believe in him.
"I believe." Brimlad sighed, "But I wish it was easier for him, not so hard."
She thought for a moment, then said, "It's like having two roads that both lead to where you want to go, one rough and bad, and one flat and straight to get there, which one do you choose?" Eloise pursed her lips and answered truthfully, "Definitely the flat road."
"That's right. That's what a smart person would choose."
Eloise understood what she meant, which was that once she chose Edwina, her cousin would have an even harder time than he did now.
But if he chose Elva, with the Boone Family as his backer, he would have a say in the Khan Group.
But now cousin also has a say, it's not like he will be led by those directors by the nose.
"Auntie, Cousin knows for himself what he wants, you can't force your ideas on him." Eloise advised.
"I'm his mother."
That one statement made Eloise realise that Brimlad was such a stubborn person.
She was momentarily speechless, not knowing what to say.
"Eloise, do me the favour of persuading your cousin to spend less time with Edwina sometime, that woman is not for him."
Eloise sighed, "Auntie, do you really think you're doing the right thing?"
"I'm doing it for his own good, of course I'm doing the right thing." Brimlad looked justified.
"I'm a mother too, and although Solomon and Sweety are still young, I respect their ideas and generally don't like to interfere with them."
Eloise tried to convince Brimlad, using herself as an example.
But at this point Brimlad could not listen to anything she had to say and was stubborn, "That's because they are still young, when they are older you will understand me."
It seemed that she really couldn't be persuaded.
Eloise was silent for a few seconds before she said, "Auntie, Edwina is a good girl, Bonnie is not her own."
At that, Brimlad was shocked, "Not by birth, then whose?"
"Her sister's child."
"What about her sister?"
"Deceased."
There was instant silence around the room and the atmosphere became somewhat strained.
Brimlad suddenly felt she had gone a little too far, thinking for a moment that Edwina was a divorced woman to think she was not good enough for her son.
There was also the thought that Edwina was not looking at the power of the Khan family to be friends with Eloise.
"Aunt-in-law, Edwina is definitely not the kind of girl you think she is. All these years, she has raised her children on her own and usually works and goes to work, but I have never heard her cry out in pain." Brimlad didn't want to admit that he had gone soft and remained tough-mouthed, "Are you playing the bitter card for her? Trying to get me to accept Edwina?"
"I have no such ideas." Eloise was helpless, "I'm just stating the facts and don't want you to have too many misconceptions about Edwina. As for you not liking her, that's your freedom."
Brimlad couldn't say anything.
She had never been a mean person, and if it weren't for her son's career, Edwina would actually be quite nice.
Seeing signs of relief in her expression, Eloise was quick to strike while the iron was hot and continued, "Auntie, if you want, try to get to know Edwina better, you'll replace she's really strong and kind." "Okay, I know." Brimlad pretended not to care, "What she's like, I'm not interested, I just wish she'd stay away from Edgar."
After all that, she still thought that way.
Eloise felt powerless and she sighed, "Never mind, whatever. I just hope your cousin doesn't blame you."
"How dare he blame me, I'm his mother."
Despite what she said, Brimlad couldn't help but worry inside.
What should she do if her son really blamed her?
