Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1199: Even if it's a dragon's den

Learning that Eloise was going to be a female companion for Bergerian, Edgar tried his best to stop it.

"No, you absolutely cannot go."

Eloise smiled down, her tone full of helplessness, "Cousin, it's not as if I can't go now. And he has promised me that he will reunite me with Hector if I go." If it wasn't for that, how could she have agreed?

"You trust him?" Edgar looked at her incredulously.

She should know better than he did what kind of man Bergerian was.

"I'm not trusting him, I'm saying yes for Hector." Eloise took a deep breath, "As long as I can get Hector back, even if it's a dragon's den, I'll go."

She was particularly determined, she didn't want to let go of even the slightest chance.

Edgar opened his mouth to persuade her again, but when the words came to his lips, he only said, "Fine then, I'll go with you."

"You?" Eloise frowned, "Can you go?"

"Sure." Edgar curled his lips into a smile, "Well at least I'm the president of the Khan Group, invitations are usually handed to me for parties in Kyoto." With that, he took out an invitation.

Eloise took a look at it and saw that it was the party Bergerian had mentioned.

She couldn't help but smile, "Great, I'm not so worried and scared with you around, cousin."

"And I thought you weren't scared?" Edgar tapped her on the head, "Don't ever make decisions like that on your own again, okay?"

Eloise nodded, "Yeah, I know."

"Get some rest today, you've got a tough fight tomorrow." Edgar smiled and rubbed her head.

"I'm going to my room then."

Walking out of the study, the smile slowly faded from Eloise's face as she lifted her steps towards her room.

Once back in her room, she took the box in the corner to her bed and opened it, taking the dress inside and laying it flat on the bed. Looking at the gown, she slowly clenched her hands together and her expression became extremely determined.

This time, no matter what, she had to get Hector back.

...

Here, Edwina never expected Brimlad to come to her.

"Edwina, someone is looking for you."

She was helping her aunt in the back kitchen to sort out the dishes when her colleague came in to tell her.

As soon as she heard that someone was looking for her, she put down her bowl and asked, as she walked out, "Who is it?" "An aunt."

"Auntie?" Edwina paused in her steps and turned her head to look at her colleague.

Her colleague looked confused, "Yes, it's an aunty, what else do you think?"

She thought it was ...

Edwina couldn't help but laugh, "It's nothing, I'm going out."

With those words, she walked quickly outside.

When she got outside, she saw Brimlad standing by the cashier from a distance and couldn't help but slow down her steps.

After speaking to the manager, Edwina led Brimlad to the coffee shop near the restaurant.

"What would you like to drink, aunty?" Edwina asked.

Brimlad, Edwina smiled, "Water will do."

Edwina ordered two glasses of lemonade, "Aunty, I wonder if there is something you came to see me about?" Brimlad pondered for a moment and opened the door to ask, "Did Edgar go looking for you two nights ago?" After asking, she stared intently at Edwina.

Feeling the pressure in her face, Edwina subconsciously squeezed her palms together, the corners of her mouth curved and she replied truthfully, "Yes, he did come to see me." Although she had known this was the case, hearing it from her was another matter.

Brimlad furrowed his brow tightly, displeasure clearly written all over his face, "Edwina, you're a friend of Eloise's and I'm quite impressed with you, but... aren't you getting a little too close to my son?" So, was this her way of questioning herself?

Edwina bit her lip, "Aunty, Mr. Edgar and I are not what you think."

"Not in the way I think?" Brimlad laughed softly, a sneer in his brow, "Edwina, my son comes to your house at night and now you tell me it's not what I think?"

Edwina smiled back, she smiled helplessly, "Aunty, believe it or not, Mr. Edgar and I are really just friends."

Brimlad stared at her, trying to see the slightest hint of a flaw in her expression.

But whether she was too good at hiding it or not, she looked open and natural, without a hint of weakness.

Brimlad nodded, "Okay, I'll trust you for now. But I'm here today because I want you to stay away from my son."

Hearing this, Edwina felt a little uncomfortable inside and she laughed, "What do you mean by that, Auntie?"

Brimlad didn't answer her, but said abruptly, "I know it's not easy for you to be a woman with a child, but you shouldn't take advantage of other people's sympathy."

"Auntie, how can you say such a thing?" Edwina looked at her in a bit of disbelief, "I always thought you were a sensible person, but I never thought I would hear such words from you." It really hurt.

When had she ever taken advantage of someone's compassion?

No, I should say when had she ever needed someone's sympathy?

Brimlad knew her words were more than a little hurtful, but she had to say them anyway.

"Words don't hurt. As a woman, have a little self-respect and self-love, especially if the other person is already seeing someone."

Hearing this, Edwina understood.

She couldn't help but laugh at how she didn't expect such a doggerel to happen to her.

Seeing her laugh, Brimlad tightened his brow in displeasure, "What are you laughing at?"

Edwina was silent for a few seconds, "Aunty, all you have said so much is to tell me not to be paranoid about your son. Since you've been so blunt today, I'll have something to say." She paused, "Mr. Edgar and I, that is, your son, are just ordinary friends. I have never presumed to be with him and ... he is not someone I can afford to be high on."

Looking into the clean eyes of the girl before him, Brimlad suddenly felt that he had overstepped the mark.

Perhaps, as she had said, it had never been her intention to be with Edgar.

Yet he had rushed to come and warn her.

It was really too much.

Thinking of this, Brimlad's tone softened, "Edwina, I believe you. If my words have hurt you today, I hope you can understand what it's like to be a mother." She reached out and took Edwina's hand in hers, "Okay?"

Edwina drew back her hand and Edwina smiled, "Aunty, I understand you."

Brimlad smiled, "That's good. Still come over to the house more often in the future and bring Bonnie with you."

"No, thanks Aunty." Edwina refused outright.

The smile on Brimlad's face froze instantly as she watched Edwina stand up.

"Aunty, I have to go to work, so I won't keep you company much longer."

With that, Edwina bent down and turned to leave in a hurry.

The waiter put the lemonade on the table one by one, and as Brimlad looked at Edwina, who had already walked out, a sigh escaped his lips. Perhaps he had gone too far, but he was saving up for a rainy day.

This would give him some peace of mind.
