Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1253: How do I get to Hector?
After Edwards left, Edwina walked into Bonnie's room.
She just wanted to see if Bonnie had covered up, but to her surprise Bonnie was still awake. Hearing the door open, Bonnie got up from the bed.
"Why are you still awake?"
Edwina walked over quickly.
"Mum, are you and Uncle Edgar in a relationship?" Bonnie looked like a little adult.
Edwina froze, then reacted and feigned displeasure, "What's a child doing asking that? Go to bed."
Bonnie looked at her quietly for a few seconds and lay down.
"Don't go to bed so late again, okay?" Edwina pulled the covers back over her.
Bonnie gave a soft "yes".
She turned off the light, leaving only one lamp on.
As she turned to go out, a small voice suddenly sounded behind her.
"Mummy, I like Uncle Edgar and I'd like him to be my daddy."
Edwina froze and looked back to see Bonnie pulling up the covers to cover her head.
Shy.
And understanding enough to make her heart ache.
"Okay, Mummy knows."
With that, Edwina walked out, closing the door softly behind her.
She walked to the living room and sat down, taking out her phone and tapping on the call log, looking at Edgar's number and debating whether to call him. Ask him if he had arrived home yet?
Just as she was hesitating, the phone suddenly rang, startling her.
It was Edgar.
She picked it up in a hurry, "Hello."
"Still awake?"
Edgar's low voice fell into her ears, like a small stone falling into the lake of her heart, causing a shallow ripple.
Edwina subconsciously gripped the phone tightly and whispered back, "I'm ready to sleep."
"I'll be busy for the next few days, so I might not have time for you."
"That's okay." Edwina also wished he could stay with her every day, but was aware that she couldn't be so ignorant.
After all, he was the president of a company and had his responsibilities and burdens.
"When I'm done, I'll take a holiday then and take you and Bonnie out to play."
"Sure." Edwina couldn't help but look forward to it.
The two talked for a few more minutes before reluctantly hanging up the phone.
Edgar walked out onto the balcony and looked down at the starry lights, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Tomorrow he would ask Earlene out, and hopefully it would go well with Eloise.
...
The next day, Eloise received a message from Edgar.
--I'll ask Earlene out today, the rest is up to you.
After reading it, she deleted the message and held the phone tightly in her hand.
She had to meet with Hector today.
It was close to noon when Earlene received a call from Edgar.
The person on the other end said he wanted to invite her to dinner and had something he wanted to talk to her about.
She refused outright.
"Earlene, we can't be enemies just because of what happened with my cousin and Hector. I simply want to have a meal with you. For the sake of having liked you, do me the honour." Earlene thought that the partnership between the two families was still suspended, and it would not be out of the question to have a meal with him to restart the partnership. So, she agreed.
Before she left, she told Hector to stay in his room on the first floor, except for lunch, and not to come out and walk around.
Hector knew exactly what she meant, and although he didn't think it was right, he didn't object.
"Don't worry."
Earlene couldn't help but feel a little guilty, "I'll take you for a walk in a few days before I bore you out."
"Good."
Hector stood on the balcony and watched Earlene's car drive away until it was out of sight before he withdrew his eyes.
He turned to go back inside and out of the corner of his eye he caught a glimpse of a familiar figure.
Subconsciously, he stops and turns his head to look over.
Eloise was carefully trimming the flowers with her pruning shears, perhaps sweating from the heat, and wiped her forehead. The corners of Hector's mouth rise as he watches her quietly.
A few minutes later, knowing that Earlene had gone out, Eloise put the scissors down and looked up to the first floor.
A long, familiar figure fell unexpectedly into view.
She froze.
She hadn't expected Hector to be on the balcony.
Quickly, she reacted and smiled.
Surely God was helping her.
...
Eloise ran into the cottage in stride.
It was lunchtime and Hector would be downstairs.
So she went back to her room, changed into clean clothes and went to the kitchen.
The butler was full of displeasure when he saw her and scolded her sternly, "What are you doing here instead of tidying up the flower garden in the front yard?"
"Ted, it's the middle of the day and it's a bit hot, so you have to give me a break."
Eloise had an ingratiating smile on her face and was prepared to brazen it out if the housekeeper kicked her out later.
She couldn't afford to waste a chance to be alone with Hector when Earlene wasn't home.
"Get out." The housekeeper scolded.
Eloise ignored him, "Ted, is there anything I can do for you?"
"I said get out!" The butler's face went cold.
Eloise was helpless and was about to turn around and walk out when a familiar voice came from the doorway. "Ted."
It was Hector!
Eloise hurriedly turned around, only to see Hector walk in.
His gaze swept over Eloise and landed on the butler's face as he said lightly, "Ted, I'm hungry."
The housekeeper didn't dare to ignore him, so he ordered the servants to bring the food to the dining room.
Eloise sighed with relief and looked over at Hector, only to see him looking at her with a smirk.
The moment their eyes met, Eloise understood.
So it was helping her.
"Thanks." She whispered her thanks.
Hector smiled and didn't say anything.
But Eloise was still herded outside.
"The lady said you were not to appear in front of Prince Hector!" The butler looked at Eloise somewhat helplessly. "Butler, just turn a blind eye when Miss is away." Eloise pleaded.
"No!" The housekeeper refused outright, "If Miss replaces out about this, it's me who will be unlucky!"
"If you don't tell me, if I don't tell you, how will the lady know?" Eloise gave a sly smile.
The butler's attitude was still firm, "No means no."
"Fine then." Eloise slumped her shoulders and turned to walk out the door.
Watching her back, the butler sighed, not really knowing why she always wanted to hang around Prince Hector.
It was obvious that the lady had been angry several times and she still wouldn't give up.
Walking outside, Eloise looked back into the house and narrowed her eyes, she wasn't just going to give up. Just... how was she going to get to Hector?
Hector finished his dinner and went upstairs under the 'watchful eye' of the housekeeper.
He hadn't seen Elo during that time.
He could understand Earlene's caution, but there was no need to guard against a servant so much. When he returned to his room, he unconsciously went to the balcony.
