Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1293: Wedding Postponed
Eloise woke up to snowy whiteness and, as an afterthought, realised it was a hospital and sat up from the bed on her arms.
The dizziness hit her too quickly and she fell back into bed.
Brimlad, who had been sitting on the edge of the bed napping, heard the movement and, with a start, opened his eyes to see that Eloise had woken up and got up to help her, "Eloise, you're finally awake. I was so frightened." Eloise sat up slowly with Brimlad's help, holding her head, which was still a little dizzy.
"Auntie, what time is it?"
"It's ah..." Brimlad glanced at his wristwatch, "almost six."
Six o'clock?
Eloise turned her head to look out the window, it was dark.
"How did the wedding go, Auntie?" That was her main concern.
"You're worried about the wedding after all this." Brimlad sighed, "The wedding was postponed."
Postponed.
Eloise breathed a sigh of relief and the corners of her mouth lifted, "Great."
"You guys just don't think about the consequences of what you do, it's a good thing you're okay or you would have been in trouble."
Hearing that she had fainted at the wedding, Brimlad felt like he was going to faint.
These kids never did anything without giving them a heads up, and it scared them enough every time.
"I'm sorry to have worried you."
Seeing Eloise's apologetic face, Brimlad deliberately put on a stern face and said uncharitably, "Do you think I'm blaming you guys?"
"No." Eloise shook her head, "You're worried about us."
"In future, tell me and your brother-in-law before you do anything, so we can react first if anything happens."
Eloise nodded, "Yeah, I know."
"You'd better know that, and I won't spare you guys if it happens again."
Eloise wrapped her arms around her and pouted, "Auntie, you're the best to me."
"You, don't always be alone and sulking about everything, your brother-in-law and I are really worried about you."
After Hector's accident, although she acted strong in front of them, she didn't know how hard it was behind her back.
Thinking of how much she had suffered, Brimlad's heart ached as he hugged her close, "We are your family and we will help you unconditionally, no matter what happens."
Eloise's eyes filled with tears as she snuggled into Brimlad's arms, her voice choked with emotion, "Auntie, thank you."
"Silly child, what's a family saying thank you for." Brimlad rubbed her head gently, "Don't worry, Hector will be home soon."
"Mmm."
Eloise sniffled, and although there were still tears in her eyes, the corners of her mouth lifted in a shallow curve.
She too was sure Hector would be home soon.
...
Baggott accidentally slipped up and let Maryam know about Eloise's hospitalisation.
"What's wrong with Eloise? What's going on?" Maryam was so anxious that her face turned white.
"Don't worry, Eloise is fine."
Maryam didn't believe Baggott, "How could she be in hospital if she's fine? There must be something going on and you're keeping it from me."
She shook her head and said, "No, you have to take me to see, or I won't feel safe here."
At Maryam's insistence, Baggott had to take her to the hospital where Eloise was.
Eloise was surprised to see her mother coming, "Mum, what are you doing here?"
She cast a puzzled look at in Baggott.
"It was my slip of the tongue." Baggott gave an apologetic look.
Because of Maryam's health, there was something they had chosen to keep from her.
Maryam was disgruntled when she heard this, "If your brother-in-law hadn't blurted it out, were you guys still planning to keep it from me?"
Neither Eloise nor Baggott replied.
"Eloise!" Maryam was impatient, "Do you have any eyes for me as a mother?"
"Mum, take it easy for a moment, I didn't mean to hide it from you, I just... just..." Eloise didn't know how to explain for a moment.
"Maryam, don't blame Eloise, she would hide it from you for your own good." Baggott helpfully voiced out to reassure.
"For the good of my health?" Maryam gasped, "But my health is only worse when you do that."
Eloise bowed her head, "Mum, I'm sorry."
When she apologised, Maryam couldn't be mean anymore and sighed, "You're a child, you've been reporting all the good news since you were little. I'm your mother, I don't even know that something has happened to my own daughter, how much of a failure do I have to be?"
"Mum, I won't from now on."
Maryam didn't really want to blame her, she was just angry that she had kept such an important matter from herself.
Maryam reached over and sat on the edge of the bed and helped her to smooth her hair behind her ears, looking at her slightly pale face with a heartfelt expression.
"Silly child, mum is heartbroken."
"Mum." Eloise hugged her, her eyes burning with tears, "I really didn't mean to hide it from you, I really didn't."
"There, Mum doesn't blame you." Maryam finished soothing her and raised her hand to wipe her tears with a gentle smile, "Don't cry anymore. Look at you crying like a little flower cat, you're not pretty at all."
"I'm still your daughter even if I'm ugly." Eloise wiped away her tear stains, "Mum, I'm fine, don't worry."
Maryam examined her carefully, her brow furrowing slightly, "You still look terrible."
She turned her head to Baggott, "Baggott, it may be necessary to trouble Brimlad to help make some soup for Eloise to tonic her."
"Good." Baggott nodded.
Eloise laughed softly, "Don't worry, Mum. My brother-in-law has always taken good care of me. No, she's long gone home to make soup."
"Your brother-in-law really loves you."
At the mention of this, a hint of guilt passed over Maryam's face, "I'm really grateful to your little aunt for looking after you for me, otherwise I'd be too sorry for you."
"Mum, what are you talking about." Eloise took her hand in hers tightly, "As long as you're well, nothing matters."
Maryam smiled and suddenly something occurred to her and she asked suspiciously, "Why haven't I seen Hector for so long? Has he gone anywhere?"
Eloise and Baggott looked at each other before returning, "Mum, Hector's away on business. As you know the Rogers Group is so big, it must be especially busy." "He's busy as he should be, but he should take some time for you."
"Mum, you know that Hector has always been good to me, and I can't hold him back when he's busy."
Maryam sighed, "Fine, whatever you say."
Eloise smiled, "It's still good for Mum."
