Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1294: It turned out okay
Maryam was worried about Eloise and offered to stay with her.
But was turned down.
"Mum, I'm fine, and I have my brother-in-law with me, so don't worry."
"Yes, third sister, you're not well yourself, and I'll have to distract myself from looking after you by staying." It wasn't that Brimlad didn't want to take care of her, but that was the only way she would go back if she said so. "In that case..." Maryam thought seriously about it and chose to go back.
Before she left, she made a point of urging Brimlad, "Brimlad, remember to tell me if anything happens, you can't hide it from me."
Brimlad gave a helpless smile, "Yes, I will tell you."
Maryam was relieved to leave then.
"Look how worried your mother is about you, you mustn't act on impulse again, okay?" Brimlad looked at Eloise in the hospital bed with a serious expression.
Eloise nodded, "Got it."
"You rest early, I'll stay with you tonight." Brimlad said.
"Thank you Auntie."
"You're welcome." Brimlad stepped forward and pulled the covers over her, reaching out and stroking her head, looking at her with gentle eyes, "As long as you're well, it's more important than anything else." Eloise slept quite soundly that night.
When she woke up the next day, Brimlad was already awake, turned his head to see her up and smiled, "You're awake."
"Good morning, Auntie."
The morning sun shone into the ward and everything was brighter, even the mood a little better.
"I'll go home and cook some porridge and stir-fry two more dishes and bring them over to you." Brimlad was afraid that she wouldn't like the food in the hospital canteen and decided to cook it at home. "No need to go to all that trouble, I'll just eat whatever I want." Eloise didn't want her to go back and forth, it was too much work.
"It's no trouble, I'll be over soon."
After Brimlad left, Eloise got up and went to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face before she absently walked over to the hospital bed and sat down.
She looked out at the blue sky and the corners of her mouth slowly rose; it was a beautiful day.
If Hector had been there, he would have taken her and the children out for an outing.
The thought of it instantly cast a cloud over her heart.
When was her Hector going to come back to her, anyway?
...
After dropping Bonnie off at school, Edwina took a taxi to the hospital.
Last night, she heard from Edgar that Miss. Eloise was in hospital and was anxious to ask after what had happened.
Edgar told her about them ruining Earlene's wedding and it made her furious.
"Miss Eloise was irrational in her impatience, aren't you irrational too? You should have stopped her, what would you have done if something had happened here?"
At that point, she immediately realised that something was wrong and changed her tone, "No, something has really happened, Miss. Eloise is in hospital. You guys are really messing around!"
"Eloise is fine, you don't have to be so nervous. And it's turned out quite well, the wedding has been postponed and Eloise can rest a little easier."
That being said, Edwina still felt they had really taken too much of a risk.
When they arrived at the hospital, after asking the nurse, Edwina went straight to Eloise's ward.
Before she came, she had thought that Brimlad might be there, but she froze when she walked in and saw Brimlad.
Eloise was a little surprised to see her, "Edwina."
Brimlad, on the other hand, frowned, not at all the kind expression he used to have when he saw her, instead he was serious.
Edwina subconsciously tightened the strap of her bag and approached, calling out politely, "Aunty."
Brimlad nodded expressionlessly.
One could sense her restraint and Eloise glanced at Brimlad and asked with a smile, "What brings you here?"
Edwina glanced at Brimlad and returned, "Edgar was the one who told me."
Eloise frowned and grumbled, "My cousin has a big mouth."
Thinking she was really blaming Edgar, Edwina hastened to explain, "No, he accidentally blurted it out and then I pressed him and he told me."
Eloise laughed out loud at her nervousness, "Edwina, are you defending my cousin?"
It was then that Edwina reacted, embarrassed, "Miss. Eloise, don't make fun of me."
"I'm not making fun of you, I'm just happy for you guys seeing how well you are bonding."
With that said, she looked to Brimlad, "You say so, brother-in-law."
"Huh?" Brimlad froze, then reacted, looking into Eloise's smiling eyes and coughing uncomfortably softly, "You young people take your time, I'm going for a walk." With those words, she got up and walked out.
As she passed Edwina, she didn't even look at her.
The smile on Edwina's face slowly faded and her expression darkened.
Eloise took it all in, and she sighed softly, it seemed that her sister-in-law still couldn't accept Edwina.
"Edwina, don't worry, my brother-in-law means no harm." Eloise spoke up for Brimlad anyway.
Edwina, Edwina smiled, "It's okay."
"You come and sit here." Eloise said pointing to the chair next to the bed.
Edwina complied and went over and sat down, asking with concern, "Miss. Eloise, how are you feeling physically?"
"Actually I'm fine, it's just that my cousin and the others are not comfortable with it and have asked me to stay in hospital for a few more days." Eloise looked helpless, "They're just being too careful." "Edgar he's doing it for your own good too."
At that, Eloise laughed and teased, "Look at you, looking out for my cousin again."
"Miss. Eloise, you're making fun of me again." Edwina's cheeks tinged unnaturally with scarlet.
"Why are you so thin-skinned?" Eloise laughed.
Edwina felt that if she continued to make fun of her, she would forget what she was here for.
So she hurriedly changed the subject, "Miss. Eloise, you guys were really too risky this time, it's a good thing you're okay, otherwise what would Sweety and Solomon and the others have done." The smile on Eloise's face faded for a few moments at the mention of it, "But without the risk, my husband would have married another woman."
"I understand how you feel, but there are other ways we can go about it." Edwina said.
"There's no other way, that's the only way." Eloise sighed heavily, "Do you think I want to do that? I was forced to do it too."
Edwina suddenly realised she had overthought things and said hurriedly, "I'm sorry Miss. Eloise, I didn't know that was the case."
"It's okay." Eloise curled her lips, "It was a bit of a risk, but it turned out okay."
"It was pretty good that the wedding was postponed."
The two men looked at each other and smiled.
Eloise took a deep breath, "Anyway, as long as it's postponed, I still have a chance."
