Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1301: Like a Mistress Who Cannot See Daylight

"Papa, how can you say that?" said Elva, looking at Edgar with some embarrassment.

Paulina looked behind her, saw that there was still room to sing and, on a whim, said to Bonita, "Bonita, let's take the children aside and sing." Bonita immediately replied, "Yes."

The two led the children to the living room couch and sat down.

Bonita looked back at the table and whispered in Paulina's ear, "She's sitting next to your cousin."

At that moment, Paulina looked back just in time to meet the sultry glance cast by Edgar and smiled, turning hurriedly.

"She deserved it."

Bonita heard something was wrong and asked curiously, "Why do you seem to be gloating a little?"

"There's something I haven't said."

"What is it?" continued Bonita.

"Actually ..." Paulina hesitated, "my cousin has a girlfriend."

"What?" exclaimed Bonita.

The others looked their way.

Paulina was quick to sketch a smile, "It's okay, keep talking, don't mind us."

Then she whispered, "Why are you so surprised?"

"Of course I'm surprised." Bonita exhaled and continued, "He has a girlfriend, so why is he still married into the Boone family?" "My brother-in-law and the others insisted."

"Even if your brother-in-law and the others insisted, your cousin should insist even more, if he really loves his girlfriend."

Paulina frowned, "Actually, my cousin is quite insistent too. Can't you see he's made it clear, it's just that Elva is a deadbeat."

"That's true." Bonita nodded approvingly.

"Well, enough about that. Let's sing."

Hearing the singing, Sweety immediately grabs a microphone, "Mami, I want to sing Dos Tigres."

Paulina smiled, "Okay, Mommy will give you Two Tigers."

The atmosphere was very cordial as they sang and chatted.

Then the meal came and Paulina returned to the table and sat down.

During the meal, Baggott, Mr. Juan and Elva's father talked about the recent international economic situation, and Alvaro and Edgar said a few words now and then. Elva's mother moved closer and closer to Mrs. Baggott.

Halfway through the meal, Edgar's cell phone rang.

He picked it up and the corners of his lips lifted involuntarily.

"Take your time, I'm going out to take a call."

With that, he hurried out with his phone.

"I think that's Edwina calling for you." Paulina whispered to Bonita.

"Edwina? His girlfriend?" Bonita asked.

Paulina nodded her head.

If Paulina could guess, Elva could guess too, naturally.

She grimaced and dug her chopsticks hard into the shrimp in her bowl.

Edwina, that bitch!

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got, and she stood up with a jolt, startling Paulina by the movement.

Paulina looked up, bewildered, at her.

"I'm going out for a while."

Throwing out these words, she ran out without waiting for the others' reaction.

Edgar picked up the phone, his eyebrows instantly softened, and even his voice became soft, "Edwina, did you eat?"

"I ate." Edwina walked to the living room and sat down, "How about you?"

"I'm still eating."

Edwina looked at the clock on the wall and asked in confusion, "Why are you eating so late?".

"The people from The Leoz Family are here today and we're going to eat together."

"Okay."

"I'll take you to meet them later when I get a chance."

He really wanted to introduce them this time, but his parents couldn't accept Edwina yet, and if she came to the house, the scene would definitely be very unpleasant again. Edwina nodded, "Sure, I just don't know when your parents will accept us being together."

"Soon." Edgar was a little annoyed thinking about tonight, he had to replace another chance to talk to his parents or it wouldn't be good for everyone if it dragged on like this. "Since you're having dinner as a family, I'll leave you to it."

Edwina had just finished speaking when a familiar voice sounded on the other end of the phone.

"Edgar, who is it?"

The smile on her lips froze.

It was Elva's voice.

"Why are you out?" Edgar watched with distaste as Elva approached.

"I came out to see you." Elva looked down at her phone, a glint in her eye, and suddenly stepped forward to put her arms around him.

"Stop talking on the phone, the food's getting cold."

There was a hint of pettiness in her voice, and full of intimacy.

Edwina's hand tensed unconsciously as she held the phone, a bitter smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.

And so it was.

She was Edgar's fiance and half of the Khan family.

A family....

Edwina sensed a bitterness in her mouth, and what she had just said to herself felt like a hard slap in the face.

"Don't touch me!"

Now that no one else was around, Edgar dismissed Elva immediately.

Elva's temper flared, "Edgar, don't overdo it!"

"Am I overreacting?" Edgar snorted, "I'm on the phone, why are you messing with me?"

"I'm going to make a mess!" Elva made a face of circumstance.

Edgar took a deep breath and choked it out, "Will you come in, please?"

"I don't want to!" Elva looked away, "I know it's Edwina on the other end of the phone, I'm going to tell Uncle Edgar and the others." With that, she strided away toward the box.

Edgar didn't go after her, but watched her enter the box with an unusually calm look on his face.

He couldn't wait for Elva to tell him what had happened so he could intuitively reject the union.

With that in mind, he picked up the phone again, "Weevil."

"I'm on it."

Knowing she had heard what had just happened, Edgar said, "Don't get your hopes up, I'll arrange the marriage as soon as possible." Edwina laughed softly, "Don't worry, I'm not imagining things."

"Then I won't talk to you anymore, I'll go in and see what's going on."

"Good."

Hanging up the phone, the smile on Edwina's lips slowly faded.

How could she not be imagining things?

Now she would really look like the mistress of existence.

Everyone knew Elva was Edgar's fiance, and no one knew she was Edgar's girlfriend.

She was like the mistress of the invisible.

She couldn't help but feel a pang of annoyance at the thought.

She had to trust Edgar to work things out, but when would he actually do it?

Bonnie came out of her room and saw Edwina sitting in the living room and ran to her, "Mom, what are you doing here?"

The sudden sound of a voice brought Edwina back to her senses and she motioned to Bonnie, "Come here, let Mommy hold you." Bonnie walked over to her.

Edwina took him in her arms.

"Mom, are you in a bad mood?" asked Bonnie with concern.

Edwina shook her head, "No."

Holding Bonnie in her arms, his fluttering heart slowly calmed. Whatever happened, all she could do now was trust Edgar.
