Love Comes To Me
Chapter 785: No status at all

But then thinking that he, a groom, could not be so out of place, he said stiffly, "I still think that Aisly could be a little more beautiful."

The words hit the floor and everyone laughed at him in unison.

"Why are you so nosy for a man, I gave birth to a son, didn't I? You're acting like I thought I was giving birth to a daughter." Hector's mother turned back to Hector's father in mock confusion, stabbing Rupert in the heart again. "Mum, don't be like that, I'm your son, son, you're not mistaken these past twenty years!"

Rupert wailed.

The whole family couldn't help but laugh.

Rupert had a wistful look on his face.

He told me he had no place in the family.

And, with his parents loving their grandson so much, he'll be even worse off when his son is born.

Thinking about it, Rupert wiped away a bitter tear; he was really well off.

Seeing how miserable he was, Aisly rushed to take one of his hands in hers and soothed him silently.

Rupert was instantly in a good mood and put his arm around Aisly and said proudly, "You don't love me, my daughter-in-law does."

At that, Aisly pushed him away with a look of feigned indifference.

...

Hector couldn't help the hint of a smile appear in his eyes as he stared at his silly brother and spat out a word.

"Silly."

Rupert was unconvinced and tried to argue, but when he saw his brother's insensitive look, he immediately gave in.

Forget it, he can't afford to mess with any of this family.

"I also wanted to tell you guys something else, I've been planning on getting a dog, or cat lately, and it's good to have a few kids at home to play with."

Hector's mother laughed so hard that she had tears in her eyes and had no trouble stopping to say so.

This came as a bolt from the blue for Rupert.

He was shocked and immediately objected, "Mom, no!"

Hector's mother said with disgust, "You don't have to feed him, so why are you so against it?"

On hearing this, Rupert was practically in tears.

"I'm afraid they'll steal my position."

Hector's mother is the kind of person who takes everything seriously and when a small animal comes into the house, it goes without saying that the status has to cross over to him. Even if he can't compete with people, he will have to compete with cats and dogs for favour.

Hector couldn't resist teasing, "You could learn from them how to make people like you a bit more."

"Brother, don't think I can't beat you when you ..."

Before he could finish his sentence, he was hit on the back of the head and Hector's mother scolded him with a laugh, "How old are you to be hitting?"

The whole family laughed once again as Rupert rubbed his head, not daring to say anything.

Solomon looked at Rupert with a serious look on his face and said pityingly, "Little Uncle can be so pathetic, there is no place for him at all."

That little look, as if it really hurt Rupert's heart.

"Solomon, even you make fun of me, see if I don't beat you up."

With that Rupert ran over to Solomon, who saw the situation and stomped over to Hector's mother's side. Making a face at Rupert.

Sweety followed Rupert's lead and Eloise felt a warm feeling in her heart as she watched the three interact.

At dinner, Rupert sat to Aisly's right and served her food and tea.

Hector's mother looked at Rupert and couldn't help but laugh softly.

The formerly domineering Rupert is now a complete slave to his wife.

It's sort of like turning a hundred steel into a finger.

As she spent more time with the Rogers family, Eloise became less inhibited.

Eloise looked at the two, who were so good together that they were honeyed, and couldn't help but tease, "Rupert has the potential to be a full-time nanny, it's so unobtrusive."

Rupert was busy ladling Aisly's soup and twisted his head with a smile at the words.

"Don't make fun of me sister-in-law, my brother is only good to you, he never dares to go west when you say so, what I do is not enough."

At that, Hector grunted coldly and reached out and slapped Rupert's wrist.

"I see your tail is up again now, does it need fixing?"

As soon as Rupert heard his brother's words, he turned his head to Aisly and said quietly, "You hear that, my brother is bullying me again, I've been under his thumb since I was a kid, you have to do something for me, little Aisly." Hector's mother was all smiles at the sight of Rupert's little gesture.

"But don't tell me, since Aisly is pregnant, Rupert has been a lot more obedient, I haven't seen him take care of Aisly for dinner before, that's a treat I haven't received yet."

Aisly's cheeks brushed up to the base of her neck as she heard this, and she quickly nudged Rupert's arm.

Moving his already mountainous bowl to one side, "Come on, I'm not a piglet, leave me alone and eat something for yourself."

At that, Rupert made a gesture of receipt and dutifully went to eat.

After dinner, Solomon and Sweety played in the living room while Hector's mother ordered the kitchen aunt to bring over some fruit plates.

Aisly got up from the couch and volunteered, "I'll go, Mom."

Rupert grunted with a smile, "Come on, just sit quietly and don't tire my son, can you hold a kitchen knife with your hands that are used to holding syringes?"

Aisly gave him a look, "I cooked my own food in the first place, and you don't trust me that much? Watch it later."

With that Aisly turned and went into the kitchen and Rupert followed uneasily.

Aisly looks like a veteran as she picks out a pile of fruit for the carving and plating with ease.

"Great, I never thought my little Aisly would have the skills."

Rupert looked at her in surprise.

At that moment, Hector's father happened to come in with a cup of tea and was a little curious to hear the two men talking.

Glancing at the fruit plate in Rupert's hand, he complimented, "Not bad, Aisly is much better than Rupert."

Hector's mother also came over at the sound of the voice and, looking round to see that someone was missing, spoke up, "Where's Eloise? Hector, look where your daughter-in-law has gone." There was indeed no sign of Eloise, and Hector went out to look for her without any hesitation.

On the porch in the villa's courtyard, Eloise listens to the crickets chirping in the grass and looks up at the moon in the sky.

Another fifteenth day, another full moon, and she sighed softly.

Suddenly, a pair of warm, strong arms wrapped around her from behind.

"What's the sigh? Homesick?"

Eloise knew it was Hector and didn't turn around, taking a small step forward to try and get off the chest behind her.

"No, just out to blow off some steam."

Hector tightened his arms straight away, holding the soft body in his arms even tighter, enveloping her densely with his breath.

The hot, wet breath he exhaled puffed against the nape of her neck and Eloise shuddered slightly, the most sensitive part of her being. "Don't, it's a bit itchy." Eloise couldn't help but scowl and duck away, only to feel the embrace grow tighter.
