Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 844: All is not if
At the sight of Hector, a smile instantly appeared in Eloise's eyes.
It's completely different from the detachment in the face of Josh.
As soon as Hector reached the table, Sweety jumped down from the sofa, stepped forward on short legs and hugged his leg, then raised her head and spoke in a milky voice. "Daddy, Sweety misses you so much!"
Little princesses are most deadly when they are pampered.
The words pierced Hector's heart and he bent down to take the little girl into his arms.
Hector's expression softened as he cupped Sweety's delicate white cheeks with one hand and asked gently, "Did Sweety behave herself today when she came out with Mummy?" "Yes!"
"Daddy, Solomon was good too, and when Grandpa gave the red envelope, my sister and I both said thank you!"
Solomon tilted his little head and jumped to the ground before holding up the red envelope sealed by Josh and speaking as if to take credit for it. Hector stroked his head, "Well, all good boys."
"Eloise, come on."
Hector reached out and took Eloise by the hand, holding her small hand tightly in his palm.
"Dad, I'll just go back with Hector."
"Eh, good, good."
Josh nodded with a smile, although he wanted to stay with them a little longer.
Only, the eyes kept falling on Solomon and Sweety, full of reluctance.
When Eloise caught a glimpse of Josh 's forlorn and despondent expression, she felt very uncomfortable.
"You go home early too and be safe."
With pursed lips and a simple admonition, she took Solomon and walked out of the café alongside Hector.
The family of four looks cozy.
Josh followed them out and watched Eloise and the two little ones get into the car.
"Goodbye Grandpa!"
"Grandpa, Solomon will play with you next time."
The moment the car started, the windows were lowered, and Solomon and Sweety leaned over the window to wave to Josh in a good manner. "Good, good, Grandpa will take you to the amusement park next time!"
Josh froze, then smilingly lifted his hand and waved it.
As he watched Hector's car drive further and further away, Josh sighed heavily.
He stood in place for a long time, his back looking a little depressed on the flowing road.
He recalls the innocent smiles of the two children and their soft voices calling out to his grandfather.
He can't tell you how much he regrets it in his heart now.
If he hadn't treated him like that as a daughter in the first place, perhaps everything would have been different.
Perhaps he will now be just like the average middle-aged or elderly person.
It must be a very pleasant life to take your grandchildren for a walk in the park and play chess every day.
Unfortunately... all is not what if.
"Come on, you two sit down, you can't poke your heads out while Uncle Driver is driving."
As Eloise pulled the two little ones down from the window and sat them next to her, she gave a serious lecture, "It's dangerous, so no more next time."
Sweety and Solomon obliged very obediently and then childishly pestered Hector, who was sitting on the other side of the room, to talk.
Sweety even crawled straight into her own daddy's arms.
"Daddy, Daddy, when can Sweety go to the amusement park with Grandpa?"
"Daddy, Solomon wants to go too."
The two youngsters pestered and asked questions, which Hector answered patiently.
On the way, Eloise kept her head down and was very quiet, a far cry from her usual self.
Eloise, who had been silent, also caught his attention.
"Solomon, switch places with Daddy, will you? Daddy will talk with Mommy."
Solomon listened and was good enough to switch from his middle position, to the side.
Hector held Sweety in one arm and with his other long arm, he gathered the silent Eloise into his arms, his thin lips lightly parted, "What's on your mind? So quiet." Leaning back into Hector's warm embrace, Eloise snapped back to attention.
"It's nothing." Her voice was soft, with a few sighs.
Hector frowned, his voice low and gentle, "Did he say something to you that he shouldn't?"
After all, he knew exactly what Josh had done to Eloise in the past, and it was inevitable that he was worried.
"No." Eloise shook her head, "Just thinking, I've forgotten a lot of things and would love to remember them quickly."
The words fell, and she looked a little dejected.
She had forgotten too much.
Just like today, when she saw Josh, she only felt familiar, but her mind was blank and she could not recall a single memory of him.
It's not a pleasant feeling, like ... having to fit into a strange world.
But the good thing is, she has Hector with her all the time, and two such soft and cute little babies.
"There's no rush, take your time."
Hector's heart went out to Eloise and his warm, dry palm touched her head, stroking it gently as he soothed her, "Things are looking up, aren't they?"
This almost childish tone made Eloise cry a little.
The vacant place in her heart was also filled, making her feel better little by little.
Hector is right, lost memories can be recovered slowly.
But too much of a rush could instead affect her life and state of being right now.
Seeing that she seemed to have figured it out, Hector was a little more relieved and simply rubbed her hair gently, silently reassuring her.
The car soon eased to a stop in the Rogers family home and Sweety and Solomon ran into the home as soon as they got out of the car. Maryam, who had been bored all morning, was greeted by the sound of a clear, childish laugh as it entered the house.
She took the two little ones into her arms and smilingly asked where they had gone to play.
"Grandma, Sweety and Mummy and Brother met Grandpa today!"
Children are always innocent and when Maryam asked, Sweety said with a smile on her face.
She also told Maryam about Josh 's red envelope to her as well.
Maryam stared at first, then smiled and asked if they were having a good time.
Hector knew that Maryam and Eloise must have something to say when this was brought up, so he took the two little ones upstairs first. "Mom."
Eloise came up and took Maryam's hand and sat with her on the sofa.
She gazed at Maryam's visibly aged face and the silvery white laced through her hair.
It all spoke to her silently, and her mother was getting old.
Eloise watched Maryam's expression, afraid of saying the wrong thing and upsetting her, and simply said, "I saw Dad today, but I didn't recognise him." Maryam laughed carelessly, a smile of relief at having looked away.
It's been so long since it happened, and both she and Josh have their own lives.
She was so dead to this man that she could now say that the well was clear.
"Eloise, it's all in the past."
Maryam patted the back of her hand and sighed, "I just want to see you safe and happy for the rest of my life, that's all I want!"
When she mentioned peace... and remembered the word measured by the abbot of Nanshan Temple, she was worried again.
She sighed softly, "And I wonder how many more havocs my Eloise will have to go through before she gets settled."
"Mum, aren't we happy now?"
Eloise was so helpless that she simply threw her arms around Maryam and pouted, "And the abbot said that as long as Hector is with me, the disaster will be solved, right?"
