Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 878: You're really my own brother
"Thanks." Out of courtesy, Hector said thanks in a light voice.
By the look on Farabee's face, Eloise could sort of guess. This great uncle of hers was probably just here to climb the ladder.
"Great-Uncle, since you're here, go into the banquet hall and have fun." Eloise took the lead and let Farabee into the ballroom with her. After all, there were other people watching, and even if she didn't want to see Farabee, there were still some formalities that had to be done. Farabee was probably sure of this, and when she heard Eloise's comment, she was all smiles.
Eloise called for someone to entertain Farabee and then returned to the ballroom with Hector.
The two children waited at Rupert's for a while and immediately jumped at the sight of their mummy and daddy coming back.
Farabee didn't care when she saw the two Eloise's hiding away.
From that day at the gathering at the old Fang house, he knew that Hector was not in his good graces and that he would replace it difficult to browbeat him.
But the people who come to this reception are basically well-known tycoons in the country as well as people with backgrounds.
It would have been excellent if he had casually climbed into a relationship with one of them.
At least the future is promising.
The thought brought a smile to Farabee's face as he took a glass of red wine from the tray in the waiter's hands.
Then, wandered around the ballroom, almost going up to talk to a wealthy person when he saw one that looked familiar. "Hello hello, Mr. Lin, I've heard a lot about you."
Farabee caught up with one of the familiar faces that appear regularly on the TV channel and greeted him.
The other side was also full of confusion when they were stopped.
The man looked at Farabee and couldn't recall any impressions relating to him at all.
But out of good breeding, the man smiled politely, "Hello."
"How is your Linn Group doing these days?"
Farabee made herself at home and pulled people in for a chat.
The man was pestered and too embarrassed to interrupt such an enthusiastic Farabee, so he could only listen helplessly. Farabee's almost sales-like introduction to herself made the man sound more and more offended the more he listened.
Finally an excuse was pulled off the cuff and off they went.
Farabee was still unaware of this and waved to the man with a smile, "Mr. Lin, let's talk again next time."
Eloise was afraid that Farabee might get into some kind of trouble, so from time to time she would look at Farabee in the crowd.
He came and went through the crowd with ease, talking to all these people he didn't know.
Almost all the well-known rich and famous in the room were spoken to by Farabee.
Some of the good-tempered ones would smile politely and talk to Farabee, but some of the grumpy gentry would simply ignore Farabee. He was all over the place like a clown and didn't even know it.
Eloise looked embarrassed for a moment.
"Hector, I'm sorry, I ... didn't know Great-Uncle would be like this."
Eloise's cheeks flushed a little with bashfulness.
Even though not many people in the room knew that Farabee was her great uncle, she still didn't feel very good about it.
Hector's arrival as chairman should have been a high point.
But the arrival of Farabee seems to have changed all that.
Hector was clear-headed enough to know what Eloise was apologising for.
He reached out and stroked Eloise's head, smiling down at her tenderly.
"Eloise, it's not your fault, so it's okay."
"Well..."
Eloise responded and turned her head to look into the crowd.
Farabee, who is not sure whether she is tired or not, is sitting on the sidelines sipping a glass of wine.
She sighed softly.
It would be nice if this great uncle would just be quiet.
Eloise simply focused on the two little ones.
Farabee would have fixed her eyes on Rupert.
It was useful to wander around so much just now and get useful information.
That is, knowing who Hector's brother Rupert is and what position he currently holds at Rogers Group.
Unaware that he is being watched, Rupert is still chatting to a wealthy man.
Farabee resumes with a glass of red wine and strides over to Rupert's side.
"Mr Hector, hello!"
The conversation was abruptly interrupted and Rupert froze slightly for a moment, turning his head to look.
He hadn't met Farabee, and Eloise had only mentioned her two oddball uncles in one sentence when she mentioned the Khan family.
So this would see Farabee still pondering in his head who he was.
"Good evening." He greeted with a smile.
Farabee was not about to let go of such a great opportunity to get in touch with Rupert.
This pulled him along and he got to know some of the finer points of trivia.
But all that is irrelevant to Rupert.
Time passes quickly.
Outside the sky was getting darker and darker and Eloise was showing signs of fatigue.
Even the spirited Solomon and Sweety were yawning.
"Eloise, are you tired?"
Hector, who had finished chatting with his guests, turned his head and glanced over to see a yawning Sweety bending over to take her in her arms, and asked Eloise again. Eloise picks up Solomon and nods.
Hector immediately took Eloise and said to the guests around him, "Excuse me, everyone, my wife is tired, so I'll leave you to have a good time."
His low voice reached Eloise's eardrums and she froze, and then, in a flash, was moved.
Rupert was not far away and couldn't help himself when he heard it, he quickly walked up to Hector's side, "Brother! You're really my brother, you're just going to leave and leave me to run the scene alone?" He lowered his voice, his face full of disbelief.
Hector raised an eyebrow and nodded sincerely.
"Shit!" Rupert couldn't hold back and let out an expletive.
Farabee followed suit as he took a few glances at the sleepy little ones.
Then he fished out two red envelopes from his arms in a decent manner and shoved them into Eloise's hands.
"Eloise, last time, my uncle didn't give the two children a red packet, so I'll make up for it this time. When you're free, come back and visit our Khan family more often!"
Farabee said to Eloise with the air of a good elder.
Eloise's brow furrowed slightly and quickly relaxed again.
In front of so many people, she hesitated for a moment before accepting the red envelope.
The brothers finally negotiated, although in Rupert's opinion it wasn't really a negotiation at all.
The main part of the ballroom was still left in the hands of Rupert.
With Eloise and the two little ones in tow, Hector left the ballroom to the envious eyes of a crowd of celebrities.
"My, Chairman Ken really loves his wife!"
"If I can replace a husband who loves me like this, I would be willing to live a few years less even if I have to." "Mrs. Eloise is so happy too!"
...
There was a lot of chatter on the floor.
"Everyone, it's time to drink for the rest of the reception and make no inhibitions."
Rupert watched the family of four figures go away and finally sighed in resignation and chuckled.
The ballroom soon resumed its initial bustle as well.
