Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 937: The Sword Draws
When she arrived at the hospital, Eloise saw several of her uncles and they were all there.
Everyone looked grave, but she knew that some of them might not really be worried about the old man in the operating theatre.
"Eloise, you're here." Brother-in-law Brimlad rushed to greet her.
"Little Aunt."
Brimlad's eyes were red with tears as she wiped them away and said, "It's hard for you to make this trip, your grandfather is still inside and his life is uncertain." "Grandpa he is a blessed man, this calamity will surely pass."
Eloise clutched her hand, and there was nothing they could do at this time but comfort each other.
The operation was still in progress and the atmosphere was heavy as the Khan family, large and small, waited outside without anyone speaking. Suddenly, a shrill voice rang out.
"Farabee, are you even a man anymore? If you're not, I am."
The person who spoke was Eloise's great aunt Clemon.
After yelling, she made a move to raise her voice to speak.
"You shut up!" Farabee barked, "What time is it that you have the heart to bring that up?"
"How come you can't mention it? It's about Arlice, you have to mention it even if you can't!"
"You can't mention it means you can't mention it!"
Seeing the two of them arguing, Baggott shouted out, "Quiet, both of you! Dad's still in there being resuscitated, what are you arguing about?"
Clemon was reluctant to say anything else, when Arlice pulled her back and advised, "Mum, there's no need to rush anything until Grandpa's operation is over."
Second aunt Silvia, who was at the side, heard this and snorted, "Sister-in-law, which play are you singing? Why can't I even understand it?"
"Second sister-in-law, shut up since you don't understand."
Clemon was visibly angry as she gave Farabee a stern look and spat, "Piece of shit!"
Farabee felt humiliated by his wife's public scolding and his anger flared up.
"Why are you a woman who is so unreasonable? Now that Dad is still lying in there, do I have the nerve to say that he wanted to give the Khan Group to Arlice? What will the others think of me that way?!" The others froze at Farabee's words.
It was second uncle Devona who reacted first and questioned, "Brother, what are you talking about? When did Dad say that the Khan Group would be handed over to Arlice?"
Second Aunt Silvia chimed in, "That's right, big brother you don't want to take advantage of Dad's situation and just talk nonsense!"
Mr and Mrs Baggott and Edgar's faces also turned a little ugly.
Eloise and Hector looked at each other, both knowing full well that what Farabee said was not necessarily true.
In the face of questioning, Farabee sighed heavily, "I don't want to say that I just guessed you guys would think that. But I can swear to God that what I said is true."
"Swear to God?" Devona was dismissive, "Then I could also swear to God that Dad actually wanted to give the Khan Group to Goode."
"Second brother, how do you ..."
Farabee was so angry that he wanted to retort back, but in the end he held his tongue, "It was the last thing Dad said to me personally, if I dare say a word of falsehood ..."
He was about to swear, but was interrupted by Arlice, "Second uncle, third uncle and cousin, Hector, I know you don't believe me, and I don't blame you. But Grandpa trusted me to give me this burden." Eloise looked bewildered.
What is he talking about?
Obviously, I know every word, but when I put them together, I don't understand them at all.
Where on earth did he get the nerve to say he didn't blame them?
"We really don't believe it, so it's best to wait until Grandpa wakes up now."
Eloise wasn't going to speak up, but was really sickened by Arlice's shamelessness.
"That's right, whatever there is will wait until the old man wakes up." Devona hurriedly echoed.
Even if what Farabee says is true, the family can't have their way now.
When they said that, Arlice couldn't say anything else, and he glanced at Eloise with a glint of gloom in his eyes.
I thought this would be the end of the matter for now, but to my surprise, my great aunt Clemon was unrelentingly shouting, "You're being bullies, you know that?
You are just jealous of the old man for making Arlice the heir and you are not convinced in your hearts to admit this fact to death."
"Jealous?" Second Aunt Silvia sneered, "Sister-in-law, is Arlice the only grandchild the old man has? Isn't there Goode Herrin and Edgar? You're saying that he gave the Khan Group to Arlice, but why don't you show us the proof?" Brimlad, who had been silent, also spoke up, "Yes, sister-in-law, as long as you have proof that it's true, we all won't say a word."
Clemon gave them an arrogant glance and snorted, "Yes, the old man has several grandchildren, but between them, the best is Arlice, and there is no excuse for the old man to do so."
Silvia was not happy with this comment, and said, "And the best? I'm not afraid of blowing that out of proportion. I'm telling you sister-in-law, Arlice and Goode are on par with each other, there's no reason why anyone should be better than anyone else!"
"Don't forget, second sibling, my Arlice got a deal with Rogers Group, but did Goode?"
Clemon, with a superior face, pulled out that SA Group partnership to talk about it.
Silvia's face darkened in half at the mention of it.
On that basis, it was Goode who lost.
But Silvia was resigned to the fact that the rest of her eyes caught a glimpse of Edgar, and her eyes lit up.
"Is that so? I seem to remember Edgar working with the Rogers Group too, or was it yesterday? And Dad made it very clear at the board meeting yesterday that his favourite was Edgar."
Silvia really didn't want to bring it up if it wasn't to overpower the first house.
It has to be said that not only her son, but also Arlice lost to Edgar.
Clemon was gagged for words.
Arlice spoke once again, "Auntie, Grandpa did say that at yesterday's board meeting, but last night he called me into his study and talked to me a lot before finally stating that he wanted to hand over the Khan Group to me." This is said with all sincerity.
Eloise would have believed it if she hadn't known him and his parents as people.
"Bullshit!" Devona cursed outright, "I'm telling you, don't try to hijack the Khan Group while something like this is happening to the old man."
"What do you mean by hogging it? Arlice is the heir handpicked by the old man, so you guys can hold your tongue even if you don't like it!" Clemon's posture of listening to anyone and everyone ignited Silvia's anger at once.
"Sister-in-law, you're really shameless, you can even say such nonsense. I tell you, I don't believe it today!"
"You'll have to believe it if you don't." Clemon was not to be outdone, and the atmosphere was instantly sabre rattling.
In the end, the two men got into a fight over the matter, and there were a number of onlookers attracted.
"Have you had enough of this? Not enough to be ashamed of?"
Edgar, who had been quiet and peaceful, finally pressed on.
