Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 970: What else to check?
Hector's good-looking sword brows furrowed hard and his expression turned serious when he learned about the warehouse fire. "Hector, what should I do now?"
In front of others, Edgar could barely put on a calm face, but in front of Hector, the panic and unease in his heart showed through without reservation. Hector eyes him long and thoughtfully, his thin lips parting as he asked, "What do you think about this fire?"
Edgar froze, "The police said it was an accident."
"So do you think it was really an accident?"
"I ..." Edgar hesitated, he did feel something was wrong, but couldn't put his finger on it.
"Check the surveillance first." Hector said, "If, as the police say, it was just a cigarette that caused the fire, then it should be visible on the surveillance."
His words were like an enlightenment and Edgar nodded busily, "Yes, I'll have someone look into it."
With that, he turned and headed outside.
"Mr Edgar, where are you going?" Brimlad shouted hastily as he emerged from the dining room and saw Edgar heading out the door.
"Company."
"Don't you eat breakfast?"
"Not eating."
Without looking back, Edgar strides away.
Brimlad turned to Eloise with a worried look on his face and asked, "Is something wrong?"
Eloise smiled reassuringly, "No, it's just that there's something at work that requires my cousin to come over."
"So." Brimlad believed it, then she looked at Hector and smiled, "Breakfast is all ready, go and eat."
"Thank you brother-in-law."
Eloise gave her Sweety a smile before walking towards the restaurant with Hector on her arm.
"Are you unusual with this fire?" Eloise asked the man beside her in a deliberately lowered voice as she glanced slightly off to Brimlad, who hadn't followed her. Hector's mouth curled up in a few sneers, "A very clumsy tactic."
In Italy, he had Killers burn down the SA Group's warehouse in order to burn the herbs.
But the Khan Group warehouse fire may not be so simple.
Eloise frowned, "Do you think a competitor could have done it?"
"We don't know yet, but we can't rule that out."
Edgar had just taken over the Khan Group and was not yet on his feet, so this was the perfect time to take on the Khan Group.
But Hector feels that an insider's hand is more likely.
"So is ... cousin going to be okay?" Eloise asked worriedly.
Hector stopped, turned and looked at her, "Don't you worry, I'll sort this out."
"It's been hard work."
Eloise didn't know what to say beyond that.
He is willing to help the Khan family, simply because she, at times, feels like she is really giving him a lot of trouble.
Perhaps reading her mind, Hector said seriously, "As long as you're happy, it's not hard for me at all."
Eloise glared at him, "You're really getting more natural at saying such mealy-mouthed things now."
"Learned it for you."
"Again!" Eloise glared at him without mercy.
Hector lost his smile and raised his arm around her shoulders, "Have breakfast."
The two men walked into the restaurant in harmony while Brimlad, not far behind them, watched them with a smiling Brimlad, but the smile soon faded and was replaced by a preoccupied look. When will Mr Edgar replace his own happiness?
She couldn't help but sigh at the thought of it.
...
As soon as Edgar arrived at the office, he asked his assistant to pull up the surveillance video from the warehouse.
The two men stared at the video for a long time, only seeing the employee on the night shift walking out of the office to smoke a cigarette, and nothing else strange.
"Was it really just an accident?" Edgar furrowed his brow.
He pulled the progress bar forward to read it again when suddenly the assistant shouted, "Wait."
"What's wrong?" Edgar asked.
"President, look here." The assistant pointed to the border of the screen, "Do you think it's a bit strange here, it's like two images are overlapping."
At that, Edgar fixed his eyes on the picture and it was just as he said, the picture border was a bit off.
"Call someone from the technical department." Edgar ordered.
"Yes."
The assistant took orders and left in a hurry.
Shortly afterwards, someone from the technical department arrived.
Edgar stood up in a hurry, pointed at the computer and said, "Help me see if this video is edited."
After double checking by the technician, the video had indeed been cut and spliced.
"One section of the original video should have been deleted and then re-used with another video briefly spliced in."
"So is there a way to recover the original video?" Edgar asked.
The technician shook his head, "I'm afraid that's a bit difficult."
Edgar raised an eyebrow, "That means it's OK, right?"
"That's true in theory, but not necessarily in practice." The technician doesn't dare to say with a 100 per cent guarantee that it can be recovered.
"I got it, go back to work."
When the technician had left, Edgar closed the computer and carried it straight out of the office, straight in his hands.
He had to tell Hector about this discovery and maybe he could have some way to fix it.
Meanwhile on the other side, Arlice received word that all the herbs had been loaded onto the cargo ship without incident.
He lifted a hand to loosen his tie and let out a long breath, the corners of his mouth suppressing an upturn.
"Now it's too late even if Edgar replaces out something."
"I heard that Edgar went to the police." Said Farabee, who stepped aside, "but the man seemed so frightened and babbling that the police didn't take his word for it."
"Is that so?" Arlice sneered, "I think he might be running out of things to say too."
At that, Farabee frowned, "What do you mean by that?"
Arlice got up and shook out his suit, "Just literally."
With that, he strides out of the office.
The Khan Group warehouse fire was such a big deal that he had to take care of his cousin.
But he went to the president's office to be told that Edgar was out.
"After what happened, he's in the mood to run outside?" Arlice looked at the assistant incredulously.
The assistant's face didn't change and said in a light tone, "The president is looking into the fire."
"Check?" Arlice made a strange face, "Wasn't that an accident? What else is there to check?"
"I'm just an assistant, there are things I don't really know."
That means don't try to get anything out of him.
Even an assistant dared to talk to him like that, Arlice was irritated in his heart, but he couldn't show it on the surface, so he could only grit his teeth and said, "So, then I'll come back for him when he comes back." Having said that, he turned and left indignantly.
The assistant was relieved that the CEO had explained in advance that if other people had come to ask about the warehouse fire, they would not have been able to say anything.
Arlice stepped into the lift, thinking back on what the assistant had just said, and the more he thought about it, the angrier he became.
It is true that what kind of owner raises what kind of dog.
Just as disgusting.
He narrowed his eyes, a shadowy look in them, no, he couldn't let this go.
