Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 973: Can you have a better attitude
Edgar returned to the office and as soon as he walked in, a mid-sentence scolding came crashing down on him. "You brat, didn't you even tell our directors that something so big happened?"
It's Mr Cranshaw.
All the other directors went to the boardroom and only he stayed in the president's office to wait for Edgar.
"Grandpa Cranshaw," Edgar called good-naturedly as he walked over to her.
Mr Cranshaw grunted heavily through his nose, "You still know to call me Grandpa Cranshaw, you don't really seem to have forgotten me."
He glanced at the closed door, then lowered his voice and asked, "What the hell is going on here, brat? How did the warehouse catch fire?" Edgar replied truthfully, "It's not clear yet, the police are investigating."
Mr Cranshaw's brow furrowed as he listened, "From what you're saying, this wasn't an accident."
"Yeah, it wasn't an accident." Speaking of which, Edgar bowed his head, looking emotionally drained.
Mr Cranshaw had been in the business for so many years and had seen no tricks, he smiled, "It looks like someone is really trying to get at you." Edgar was silent.
"At the time your grandfather said he wanted to hand over the Khan Group to you and to be honest I was against it because you were too young and I was afraid you would not be able to take on the burden of keeping it." "Besides, your two cousins are not easy to deal with. Even if you take over the Khan Group, you may not be able to do your job, you will be restricted in every way and your poor mentality will not be able to bear it." Edgar looked up, shock written in his eyes.
He... hadn't expected Mr Cranshaw to see it so clearly.
Mr Cranshaw saw him like this and couldn't help but laugh out loud, "Brat, you really are still young, if this matter is not resolved properly, I think you can stop being the president of Khan Group, let's replace him." "No way." The sudden confidence made Edgar straighten his back, "I won't let my grandfather down."
Mr Cranshaw smiled with relief, "That's right. Let's go, what's done is done."
Edgar, who had been apprehensive on the way back, calmed down and his mind cleared after a few words from Mr Cranshaw.
This time, he will definitely not be easily defeated.
...
Hector didn't go with Edgar to the Khan Group because it was their own internal affair and he was at best an outsider who didn't feel comfortable interfering too much.
He returned to the hospital and did not see Eloise in either ward and his sword brow furrowed in disbelief.
Where did the people go?
"Hector."
At that moment, Eloise's surprised voice came from behind itself.
He turned around only to see Eloise trotting over, her brow furrowed slightly, "Where have you been?"
Eloise flinched, "I'll walk Miss Earlene downstairs."
"Miss Earlene?"
"It's Miss Earlene."
Hector's frown tightened, "What's she doing here?"
"She came to see Grandpa." Speaking of which, Eloise smiled and lamented, "It's a really small world, I didn't realise Miss Earlene was the Rawlins' sister."
It doesn't matter to Hector who is whose sister.
What matters is her.
"Have you had lunch yet?" Hector asked.
Eloise shook her head, "No. Just now Miss Earlene asked me to join her for dinner and I declined."
She was not comfortable with her mother being alone.
"Take Mom out with you?" Hector asked tentatively.
Eloise was slightly surprised, "May I?"
"Didn't the doctor say that Mum is recovering well this time? It would be good for us to take her out for a walk."
At that, Eloise nodded busily, "Okay then, I'll go and talk to Mum."
She hurriedly ran into Maryam's ward.
Hector smiled down and followed slowly.
Maryam's eyes lit up at the prospect of taking her out for a walk, "Really?"
"Mom, it's okay." Eloise looked at Hector, "If Hector says it's okay, it's okay."
Maryam had been in hospital for a long time and it was a rare opportunity for her to get out and about and see more of the sights and people. "Then you wait for me while I change."
Eloise smiled, "Okay, take your time, we'll just wait outside."
Hector and Eloise went to the old man's ward and explained that the carers should keep an eye on the man and contact them if anything happened. By the time this side was accounted for, Maryam had also changed her clothes.
They then left the hospital together and drove to the city centre.
...
Hector took them to a shopping mall.
"There's a restaurant upstairs, so it's the perfect place to hang out afterwards." Hector said.
It wasn't a weekend, so the mall wasn't too crowded.
Eloise walks slowly, holding her mother's hand.
"Mum, you must tell me if you ever feel unwell." Eloise admonished as she walked.
Maryam lost her smile, "I will, don't you worry."
When they arrived at the restaurant, Eloise once again bumped into Earlene.
As soon as she and her mother entered, she heard someone calling her name. "Eloise."
A very familiar voice.
When she turned her head and saw it was Earlene, Eloise looked in disbelief. "What's with the coincidence?"
Earlene guffawed, "A coincidence indeed."
She glanced at Maryam and asked uncertainly, "This is your mother, isn't it?"
Eloise nodded, "Well, it's my mother."
"Hello, Aunty. I'm Eloise's friend, Earlene," Earlene introduced herself politely.
Maryam returned a smile, "Hello, Miss Earlene."
"Auntie, you can just call me Earlene."
Then she asked Eloise, "Are you here for dinner too?"
As she asked this, she glanced absently out of the corner of her eye at the men behind them.
Eloise looked behind her and asked suspiciously, "Are you alone?"
"Hmm."
Eloise turned her head to Hector, "Hector, can we have Miss Earlene with us?"
"No need." Earlene hastily declined, "I'll leave you to it."
"It's fine, it's more lively for everyone to be together."
Eloise smiled at her and then reasked Hector, "Is that okay?"
The latter nodded slightly.
Eloise burst out laughing, "Miss Earlene, come on, we'll join you."
Earlene glanced at Hector and smiled shyly, "Excuse me then."
Once the four were seated, Earlene spoke up in a seemingly offhanded manner while taking a break from ordering, "Mr Hector, I hear my brother is working with you, is that right?" "You can ask your brother." Hector returned nonchalantly.
Earlene's expression became slightly uncomfortable.
Eloise looked away, elbowed Hector and whispered, "Miss Earlene is my friend, be a little nicer."
Hector wanted to laugh a little, but held back and, in a change from his earlier coldness, said to Earlene, "Yes, we talked about working together."
"That's really great."
That being said, the smile on Earlene's face was still unnatural.
She moved her eyes to Eloise and said, "Eloise, you can just call me Earlene from now on, like your aunt."
Eloise nodded, "Good, Earlene."
The two men looked at each other and smiled.
