Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 976: Get the hell out of here!
The assistant looked at Edgar's face and said, "President, should you just leave and I'll deal with the reporters."
"No need." Edgar said as he walked out the door, "I'll sort it out myself."
He wanted to show those people that their unscrupulous ways would not work.
As soon as Edgar arrived at the entrance to the office, all the reporters swarmed around him and the microphone nearly hit him in the face, but luckily the security guards stopped it just in time. "Mr Edgar, can you tell us what the fire was all about?"
"Mr Edgar, you have only just taken over the Khan Group and something so serious has happened, what do you think about it?"
"Mr Edgar, according to information we have obtained, the Khan Group employee who witnessed the warehouse fire is now in hospital for resuscitation, please give us a reasonable explanation."
...
Edgar's face did not change as the reporters poured in their difficult questions, and he spoke without panic: "I know all of you in the media are eager to know the truth, but I'm sorry, but I can't tell you yet, so please wait patiently for the police's replaceings."
Having said that, he was about to turn around and leave.
The journalists were not willing to let him go, and all of them pushed up again, trying to break through the security guards.
"Mr Edgar, I got a message that you are trying to kill people to hide the truth about this fire, is that true please?"
When this question was asked, it was like a thunderbolt that shook everyone to their feet.
But quickly reacted and asked Edgar to give an explanation in seven different ways.
Edgar smiled suddenly, but the smile did not reach the bottom of his icy eyes.
It was vicious of those who wanted to harm him to try and pin the Frankson on him as well.
When he smiled, a reporter hastened to ask aloud, "Mr Edgar, does your silence mean that you acquiesce?"
"By default what?" Edgar's eyes were cold as he asked him back in a voice.
His gaze was so sharp that the journalist was instantly choked.
Edgar took a deep breath, "My fellow journalists, journalism is all about facts, I advise you not to put trumped up charges on me or I will sue you for disinformation."
"Also, Frankson is suffering from food poisoning and the hospital is fully engaged in resuscitation and I will keep an eye on it."
"I have said all that needs to be said, so please return, everyone."
With those words, Edgar turned and strutted away.
...
"Damn!"
Arlice slammed the laptop shut, leaning back against the back of his chair, his face as grim as ink.
He thought he could use the media to hit Edgar, but he didn't expect the guy to respond so easily, without any panic on his face.
I don't know if I'm pretending or if I'm really not panicking.
He oohed and aahed as he got up and headed out, Edgar could fool anyone else but not him.
Arlice arrived at the president's office, the assistant's eyes flickered at the sight of him, then rose and bowed her head respectfully, "Mr Arlice."
"Is Edgar there?"
"The president is inside."
Edgar was just sitting down ready to take a break, it had been nearly ten hours since the early hours of the morning and his nerves were on edge, he really could hardly hold on. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, followed by the voice of the assistant, "President, Mr Arlice is here."
Arlice!
Edgar's newly relaxed nerves tensed up again at once, and sitting up straight, he said in a deep voice, "Ask him to come in."
Arlice walked into the president's office and looked around, a hint of cynicism flashing in his eyes.
This office should have belonged to him.
"Cousin, what did you want to see me about?"
Edgar's voice pulled his thoughts back and he hastily pushed down all his thoughts to reveal a look of concern, "Are you okay?" "I'm fine."
Not knowing what he was up to, Edgar put up his guard and kept his words to a minimum so that he wouldn't be exposed.
"The warehouse is a fire and you have nothing to do with it, you don't have to feel bad about it." Arlice advised with mock concern.
Edgar raised an eyebrow, "I'm not mentally burdened, after all, someone else should be worried and scared."
He looked deeply at Arlice.
"Someone else?" Arlice looked puzzled, "What do you mean there's someone else?"
"Cousin has always been smarter than me, surely he understands the meaning of my words." Edgar leaned back in his chair and looked at him with a wry smile.
Arlice averted his eyes and laughed dryly, "I really don't understand. But, I can't ask much, I was just worried about you coming over to check on you." "Thanks for asking."
Arlice stared at him, trying to see a little something in his calm, watery face, but I don't know if he was hiding it too well or if he was really mentally strong, but he couldn't see anything. "Why are you looking at me like that, cousin?" Edgar asked with a smile.
Arlice looked back and shook his head, "It's nothing. It's good you're okay."
There was silence all around and Arlice began to feel a little uncomfortable, he smiled awkwardly, "I, I have things to do, I'm off." "Good."
Edgar smiled as he watched him leave.
Arlice walked to the door and looked back at him before opening the door and going out.
The door slammed back shut and Edgar instantly slackened.
He lifted a hand to rub his aching temples; oh God, Arlice mustn't come back or he really won't be able to hold it together.
...
Arlice returned to his office in a huff, and the more he thought about it, the angrier he became, sweeping everything off his desk and onto the floor with a wave of his hand.
The secretary, who had heard the commotion, rushed in and was surprised to see the mess, then, looking at Arlice's angry face, spoke cautiously, "Mr Arlice, are you all right?" "Get out! Get the hell out of here!" Arlice roared.
The secretary, startled, turned around and went out.
Arlice's face was frighteningly grim, his eyes were ruthless, his hands were clenched into fists, his knuckles were white, and it was especially clear how angry he was.
Edgar has really grown up and is so calm and collected that there is not a hint of panic when something of this magnitude happens.
It's not at all like the old days when it was still a bit wishy-washy.
Arlice narrowed his eyes at the thought; it was because he had Hector behind him that he had been able to change so much in such a short period of time.
It looks like Edgar won't be able to strike this time.
But never mind, the herbs have been shipped out.
Once that Frankson is taken care of, Edgar and Hector won't be able to track him down, even if they're good at it.
It was with this thought that his anger slowly descended.
...
In the evening, Edgar returned home.
Brimlad then swung his fist and hit him lightly a few times, cursing under his breath, "You brat, you didn't tell me or your father when something so big happened." Edgar throws Eloise a quizzical look.
Eloise shrugged, a look of helplessness on her face.
Originally Edgar wanted to hide things from his parents and quietly work things out.
But he didn't expect things to get out to the media, so he couldn't hide it if he wanted to.
"Edgar, how's the situation?" Baggott asked.
"The police are looking into it, and so is my side." Edgar said.
