Chapter 32
All eyes were on Caroline. Everyone on Amelia’s side already regarded Caroline as a jinx to the Ziegler family, who created at mess upon her arrival.
Amelia and Romilly were still in bed after being chastised because of her!
Catherine finally sighed and asked her eldest son. “David, why don’t you make a trip to the Queen residence and see if you can sort this out? If things get out of hand, it’ll be bad for both our families!”
David agreed, “I got it, Mom. I’ll be there in a minute.”
“Grandma, you can’t blame Caroline for this. I think Mrs. Queen has gone too far! You don’t need Dad to intercede, do you?” Jennifer was speaking for Caroline whom she thought had done the right thing.
It was all because Yasmin didn’t teach her son well and let the latter bully Leo.
“It’s not a question of who’s to blame.” Carmen said. “It’s just that Caroline has already offended the Queen residence. That’s why your grandma has to let your dad intercede!”
“No need!” Caroline spoke. Then, she voiced, “Mrs. Ziegler, you don’t have to ask Mr. David to mediate with the Queen residence. I am the one who caused this, and I will take care of it myself. I will go to the Queen residence and apologize to them by twelve o’clock tomorrow.”
Just then. Leon came in from outside and wrapped his arms around Caroline’s thigh.
When she saw her son, Caroline took his hand and walked out.
As the crowd watched them go outside, Carmen and Savannah looked into each other’s eyes as they waited for the big show
tomorrow.
Watching her indifferent back, Jennifer felt she admired Caroline even more now.
Caroline had both the brain and brawn. Also, she was sturdy yet caring about the children. Only such a woman could suppress the arrogant and ruthless Quintin. Caroline was definitely suitable to be her nephew’s mother!
Caroline saw Susan outside the main hall and handed the child to her. “Susan, please take Leo back first. I’ve got some work to do.”
“Leo, why don’t you go back with Susan first?” she asked Leon.
Leon looked up at her. Knowing that his son was worried about her, Caroline said, “I will be fine, and I will be back soon. Be good!”
With that, Leon was dragged back by Susan.
Caroline stepped out and ran into Flynn, who was in a rush. When the latter saw her coming out, he asked, “Ms. Lewis, are you okay?”
“I’m all right. I’m going out now. You may go back first!”
“Ms. Lewis, where are you going? Let me give you a ride,” Flynn offered.
“No need. You just go back and keep an eye on them.” Caroline walked straight toward the gate. Her figure slowly disappeared into the night..
Flynn returned to Tanglevine Residence and told Quintin what he had learned.
Quintin finally figured out the reason Caroline had hit someone. “It turns out that she did it for my son.”
“Yes. Ms. Lewis did it because she heard Mrs. Queen and her son verbally humiliate Leon, Flym added.
Quintin felt a strange and somewhat inexplicable feeling in his heart. He did not know why that odd woman was so protective of his son, but her action touched him. “Where is she now?” Quintin questioned.
“She said she was going out.”
“She’s alone at this time of night. You didn’t follow her?” Quintin asked again.
“I offered to give her a ride, but she refused.”
Quintin was feeling a little uneasy at the moment. Caroline said she would take care of it herself. He wondered how a woman like her would take care of it alone.
Moreover, she went out late that night. He couldn’t help but wonder if she was going to beg Samuel.
“What can a woman do to ask a man for a favor if she didn’t want to give her body to the man?” he pondered.
The more Quintin thought about it, the worse he felt. It was as if he had anticipated himself to be cuckolded. He ordered hastily, “Hurry up! Get her back here! Don’t let her have the chance to hook up with another man!”

Flynn was about to rush out the door when it opened. Caroline was standing outside.
“Ms. Lewis?”
“I’m back. You may take your leave and have a rest.” She heard what Quintin had just said.
“I see. Sure.” Flynn felt that Quintin had been worrying too much. “Ms. Lewis was just going out for a while, and she’s back now,” he contemplated.
Quintin’s heart skipped a beat when he heard Caroline talking. “How could she have come back so soon? She didn’t plead for mercy with Samuel?‘ he pondered.
When Leon saw his mother, he jumped on her at once.
Quintin was unable to see that. He could only hear footsteps entering, asking, “Why did you come back so soon? Didn’t you go and…”
Caroline fumed inside, “Do you think I went out to ask Samuel a favor by sleeping with him, Mr. Ziegler? Is that what you
think of me?”
Quintin was petrified by that remark. That was what was on his mind exactly.
“How are you going to handle this?” Quintin asked. If his body condition was all right, he might have taken care of it by now.
He would go to see Samuel in person. The latter would definitely do him a favor.
“Does it help to talk to you? You can’t even take care of yourself, and you want to meddle in other people’s affairs?” Caroline put her son on the bed as she was going to tuck him in.
“Damn! How dare you be so bitchy?” Quintin was infuriated and found it difficult to communicate with her. The woman was like a thorny bush that was customized to attack him.
“It’s not your position to judge me yet! You’re NOT in the position, got it?” Caroline’s words could have given someone a
heart attack.
Quintin clenched his fists, thumped the bed, and said, “You’re the one out there making trouble, and you’re the one who’s bad–tempered. Now, you’re even saying I’m not in the position to judge? I’m still your husband as per the terms of our agreement. I have the power to restrict you.”
“You’re just my husband on the paper. Don’t forget the third clause. We won’t interfere in each other’s personal lives. Shall I read the agreement for you?”
“You!” Quintin’s chest heaved with rage, and there was a pang of anger that had nowhere to go.
“This woman, oh dear, is simply sent by God to torture me!” he cursed inwardly.
Leon hadn’t rested when he heard his mother and father squabbling again. It sounded like the two were talking about some
agreement.
He was curious and wondered, “What is Daddy’s deal with Mommy? Is there a time limit for Mommy to take care of Daddy? Will she leave as soon as the time comes?”
The little guy’s brow furrowed at the thought of that, and he had a bad feeling about it. He didn’t want his mother to leave!
No one spoke, and the atmosphere froze for a moment. Quintin swore that if he talked to her first, he would call himself a loser!
What turned out to be an ice–breaker was when Caroline got a glass of water, went to Quintain and helped him up. Then, she put a pillow behind him,
Quintin didn’t know what she was up to. He warned, “What are you up to?”
Then, he suddenly realized something and was so remorseful that he felt like biting himself.
“Here’s your medicine! I went out to get your medicine! It’s time for you to take your medicine!”
There was something wrong with the medicine that Edward prescribed for Quintin. Hence, Caroline got someone to get a new prescription suitable for him Riley delivered it to the door just now, and she went to collect it.
“What medicine? Quintin couldn’t see it, but he felt like he was fooled by Caroline to take medicine.
“It’s a medicine that boosts blood circulation and removes blood stasis,” Caroline explained.
“Didn’t Dr. Cook give me a prescription already?” Quintin asked curiously.
“You’d better not take the medicine he prescribed, or I think you would end up dead at 26 years old!*
“What do you mean?” Quintin’s heart shuddered. His brows furrowed.
