Lycanthropy
Chapter Sixty-Seven

Still in the kitchen:

All I could think about is that the blood that came through these pipes, contained the blood of my kind as well, and it got me angry.

I walked further inside, and looked at the taps. This whole situation the past hour had been strange to say the least, but looking at these taps it got even stranger. There were six of them, and each one of them had a different logo on it. Bovine, feline, horses, bears, and the last two were humans and werewolves. Those last two looked empty, and I figured that that was the reason that Radu was kidnapping our wolves. To replenish his supplies.

I nearly gagged from the thought that these creatures voluntarily drank blood from humans and wolves. There isn’t a hair on my body, that would ever think about doing such a thing. Of course, Dakota and I hunted animals and ate hares or even mountain lions, but from humanoids? Never.

“Are you enjoying yourself?” I heard Radu ask me, and I flinched my head towards him.

He was standing in the doorway, leaning against the post of the door.

“No I’m not, I’m grossed out right now. How many humans or werewolves do you need to feed your people with?” I asked him.

“If we would only choose to drink from humanoids, there wouldn’t be enough of them left within a decade.” Replying to my question nicely.

“And does everyone gets to drink blood? Because why did the woman in our room had cracks on her face? Isn’t she allowed to drink blood?” I asked him now.

“Not yours! My people know not to eat from my pets.” He said angrily, and turned around.

I followed after him, annoyed by his change of attitude again within a second. I wanted to ask him more, but upon looking in the hallway, he was gone already.

What the hell is going on with him! I’m no fucking pet!

“I want to leave Em.” Dakota said to me.

“Yes me too, but the risk that he will go back to our pack is just too high. We will replace a way.” I said to her.

I decided to do some more research about the house and kept on walking down the hallways. There were no windows, only rooms, more kitchens, offices, living rooms and so on. And of course everywhere were those pipes filled with blood, being transported all around.

It made me think about the dead woman in our room again. Maybe he had some hierarchy where only his warriors and high placed people get to drink blood on a regular base? Maybe the lower workers only got it, when they had earned it or something.

But even though I was walking through the halls, up and down stairways and in and out of rooms, I couldn’t detect a door towards the outside and assumed that maybe there wasn’t one at all. They are used to teleport, and perhaps they could teleport out as well? I’m not sure, but now I’m lost.

I saw a place where two benches stood and I decided to sit for a while.

For a moment I thought about my time with Aron. I still couldn’t shake the thought that I wasn’t able to carry his child. Maybe it is for the best if I just stay here, so he can replace another mate, who can provide him with one.

Dakota growled at me, reminding me to not think like that. Reminding me that I’m a strong Lycan, the strongest female wolf there is, and that my sacrifice wasn’t to hide my shame from Aron, it was to save everyone I cared about.

I’m sorry girl. This scenery here is just depressing me.” I said as I looked at the black vases, black couches, black wallpaper… everything was just so dark!

Maybe Radu will allow us to paint it?” Dakota smiled while asking me that.

“Well it definitely would keep us occupied.” I said and now Dakota and I laughed out loud.

It will take some time to get over it all, but I’m glad to have a friend in my mind, talking back at me. I kind of felt sorry for the mere humans, to be so alone sometimes, as they don’t have a friend close by at all hours of the day.

While thinking about having someone talk inside your head, which must sound crazy to humans, I looked at all the Nightstalkers that came surging around.

I started to notice something. I furrowed my brows, and looked at the flashes, as if they were telling me something that was so obvious, yet it was too far away to comprehend right now. But I’m not one to give up.

All the hallways were straight and the corners were perfectly cornered in a ninety degree angle. Besides, each and every time a stalker came rushing by, it flashed in the corner and then continued into another flash at the end of the hallway into another corner. Weren’t they able to choose their path? Could they only go straight?

I needed to test that theory.

I stood up from the couch and pretended to continue my search around the house. But when I came to the corner, instead of taking the shortest way, I suddenly stepped in the centre, and with a flashing crash a Nightstalker came soaring in and we both fell on the ground.

He looked me straight in the eyes for a moment and a grin came upon his face. His eyes blurred red and I could tell he wanted to taste me. But he composed a better stature and decided to stand up with another flash. He took his hand out and gestured for me to take it, and he helped me stand up too.

“I’m sorry, for bumping into you. You alright?” He asked me.

“Yes, the mistake was all mine, I was just testing something.” I said while straightening my clothes.

“How to crash into one of us?” He smiled.

“Yes, in fact I was.” I clearly stated, and he frowned his brows.

“You are strange.”

“So are you, you are the first one to speak to me, ever since I got here.”

“Yes, my brother tends to keep his ‘pets’ much to himself.” He said and now it was my time to frown.

“Brother? You don’t look anything like him.” I said.

“No, I’m much better looking and nicer too, right?” He asked me with a big smile on his face, while he ran his hand through his silky brown hair.

“Arrogant as well.” I said and he chuckled.

“I can see why he has chosen you. You are funny.”

“Chosen?” I asked him now.

“Yes, to entertain him, otherwise he becomes a murdering monster, leaving no more humanoids on the planet. You should have seen his rage almost ten-thousand years ago. He nearly made the human race to become extinct.” He laughed.

“Well he had his fun already, a few times now.” I said while holding up my wrist, showing him the puncture wounds that were almost healed.

He was looking confused towards me again, taking my wrist in his hand, and with his other hand he checked my neck, pushing my sweater aside, and saw that I was marked.

“Fuck, you’re mated?” He asked me now, and I nodded acknowledging.

“I need to go.” He said and flashed away quickly.

This day was getting weirder by the moment, I’m confused as hell. Why did he ask me if I was mated? What would it matter? I’m just here to grant Radu my blood, nothing more.

I kept on thinking about Radu and how his emotions shifted from moment to moment. He seemed to enjoy my presence, he happened to be very nice when we were talking, but when we talked about my blood he became angry. I’m not sure what is going on in his mind, but I’m going to ask him, as soon as I replace my way back to the room. Exhaustion is coming in again and I am hungry.

After a few more ninety degree corners, which I cut off now, to not want to bump into another one of them, I found myself acquainted with my surroundings again. I followed two more hallways and found the room. Upon entering, there was food standing ready and I smiled that Radu had been so ‘kind’ to arrange it for me.

Of course it was only for me to produce blood after all, there was no other reason for it to give me such haute cuisine that stood in front of me, right?

“Back from your stroll, little white?” Radu asked after teleporting into the room.

“Yes, I was getting hungry, and you need me to produce plenty of blood right?”

“Yes.” He stoically said.

“I ran into your brother, by the way. He seemed nice, and very talkative.” I said after taking a bite.

“You couldn’t have, ‘run’ into him.” He said with saying the word ‘run’ as that specifically wasn’t possible.

“Oh, but I certainly did. He crashed onto me, causing me to bleed on my head and when he had tasted my blood he…” I lied and wanted to continue, but Radu had vanished.

So, not even his brother can taste my blood? Alright, I’m starting to guess why Radu is acting the way he does. And I’m not liking one bit of it.
