Married By Mistake
Chapter 41

DYLAN CADEN REYES

“Doc, the patient’s heartbeat is dropping.”

What ?! Huh!

“You need to go.”

“I won’t leave my wife!” I shouted at the nurse who approached me.

I held Luna’s hand tightly. And during these times, I just held her tightly. I can’t take my eyes off her pale face and her lips are almost colourless.

“Please, Sir. We will save your wife and your child.” Said the nurse.

My eyes are getting blurry. I was also restless and almost lost my heart in pain and nervousness as I watched the people in the delivery room preparing for the caesarian operation.

A nurse handed me a paper and explained to me what it was. My bodies were shaking and I could not understand what the woman was saying. What does she mean that when it comes to the point that I have to chose, who will I choose to save?

“M-My wife.” It’s hard for me to say. “Save my wife.”

The nurse nodded and asked me to come out. I watched my unconscious wife. And on the cardiac monitor showing the gradual slowing of her heartbeat.

“Do everything! I’m willing to pay big.”

“We’ll do everything, Sir.” When she said that, she closed the door.

I peeked out at the small window. I watched how they use different types of the scalpel on my wife. My tears never stopped flowing. I am the one who is hurting my wife and child.

“What’s happening?” I looked away when I heard Dad’s voice. I turned to him and saw him gasping for breath.

Camille covered her mouth when she saw how I look…

” L-Luna, she’s having a hard time getting the baby out.” I faintly said before turning my attention to Luna that until now there has been no change in her condition. “She had to have a caesarean.”

“Dylan ..”

“I don’t care how much I spend. All they have to do is save my wife! She’s all I have!”

I felt Dad’s hand on my shoulder. “The same thing happened to Avery. But, she chose to save our daughters, and sacrificed herself.”

I shook my head hard. I can’t do it. “N-No. Oh, God… I can’t live without her.”

I was startled to hear the baby cry. I looked in the small mirror and my eyes found the nurse carrying my child.

She wiped it with a soft diaper. I smiled despite the tears in my eyes. She’s wonderful.

My earlier pleasure was replaced by shock. My world stopped spinning. The people inside were panicking.

The cardiac monitor registered a flat line.

I stiffened in my place, especially when I saw them putting an apparatus on my wife’s chest.

“Luna!” I shouted as I slammed the door. I shouted her name several times in case she woke up for me.

I kicked the door and I broke its lock. Everyone was shocked at what I did. I went to my lifeless wife.

I held her hands that had previously been still caressing my cheek, which used to bring warmth to my life, are now cold.

“Fight back, Luna.” I g*****d.

“Mister Reyes—”

“My wife needs me!” I cried as my tears flowed unceasingly. “Baby, wake up, come on. Don’t leave me. We can’t just have our baby. I need you too!”

“Clear?”

“Clear!”

My wife’s chest rose due to the impact of the device. The doctor lowered the device and the doctor applied his hands to Luna’s chest to perform the heart pump. I could do nothing but pray that it would be just a nightmare. I hope Luna doesn’t leave me. May He hear my prayer.

“Baby, please. Don’t leave me! Now we’re going to build our family. Now we’re going to start it! Please, wake up!”

Don’t die… If it’s possible, let it be me!

“Luna, please, sweetheart. Wake up. I can’t survive without you.” Please. I touched her cold face. “Luna! Wake up! Please, God, not yet. Not yet. Not my wife. I’ll make her happy, don’t take her from me. Luna… I still need you. Fight back, oh. We just got back together. You said you won’t leave me. Luna, please! Open your eyes! Don’t leave me again! “

I close my eyes when the doctor stops pumping. I looked up and saw the remorse on his face. My lips parted as he looked at his watch.

“Time of death ..” No… I don’t want to hear! “Eleven—”

We all stopped with a sound coming from the cardiac monitor. We all looked there. I felt a strange joy. Especially the heartbeat on the cardiac monitor.

“Welcome back, Baby,” I whispered to her and repeatedly kissed her hand.
