MATED TO THE STRONGEST ALPHA -
Chapter Eight
*Selene's POV
My whole body was sore. To support my head, I raised my right hand and placed it on my head as I raised it. As I opened my eyes, it was a confirmation that I was still alive. How could this miracle happen? I jumped off the cliff that was so high; how could someone like me survive?
This room was new to my eyes. This was not my room, nor was it my bedroom in Riker's castle. This place was not familiar to me one bit.
It was a huge, beautiful room. It was like a room for rich people or those who came from a royal family. There were some flowers and paintings, and the bed was extremely stunning. "Where am I?" I asked myself.
When I got up, I remembered what happened before. What Riker told me and what I heard made my heart ache. I am still alive. The useless werewolf was still alive.
Maybe some other good people helped me. I was grateful that there was still good in every person, but they didn't need to save someone like me. However, I still had my doubts. Riker did not need me, so it was not a good idea to be alive. But the one thing I wanted to know was where was I?
My thoughts were cut short when the door opened. A lady came inside holding a tray, and another followed and greeted me.
"Your Highness!" When they exclaimed that, the other people rushed inside the huge room. I gave them a blank look. I didn't know any of them. Who are they? Are they the ones who helped me? "Are you okay?" A lady with long hair asked me.
I didn't give a response. I didn't know how to react. Was this kind of a prank? Did my friend do this to me? But where was Rachael? Or even Father, or Lilith? They are not familiar to me. Not even the girl in front of me. Why did Rachael even come to mind?
"How are you feeling right now, princess?" The girl asked me again. She had a low voice, but it was cold and looked like beautiful music to my ears. Her eyes have two colors; on the right side, it is blue, and emerald green on the other side. She was pretty and looked like a nice person. Maybe she was the one who healed my wounds.
I was shocked earlier as they referred to me as "Your Highness" and thought it was a mistake, but why is this pretty lady in front of me calling me princess? Have they mistaken me for someone else?
"Uhmm... may I know who you guys are?"
Maybe Father and Lilith did this to make me feel that some people loved me. "Are Father and Lilith responsible for this?"
"We don't know who those are. You are here in your palace."
"Am I dead? Am I in the afterlife?" I covered my mouth and gasped.
I heard them laugh when I said those words.
"No, darling. This is your palace. You are the lost princess." The lady explained everything to me, and I listened carefully. I didn't believe a word she said, and I found it hard to fully process the information she had just given me. How could someone like me be a long-lost princess? Was it even possible?
"The Lycan King will be here soon. You just need to rest. We brought you food. Tell us if you want anything."
"Wait, what you said was true?" Disbelief was visible in my voice. Even though the lady told it to me over and over again, I didn't get it and refused to believe it. How could this happen? I was just a useless, pathetic, and weak werewolf who could barely transform. How could it be possible that when I opened my eyes, I became a princess? A long-lost princess? Is this a dream?
"Yes, princess. What we said was true. Just tell us if you want anything." All of them bowed to me and marched out of the room.
I was left to myself with even more thoughts and questions. My lips parted in amazement. How was it possible? I was just an average werewolf; I was even worse than average. Just like what Riker told me, that I'm weak. So, how could a nobody like me become a long-lost princess in an instant?
I laid down back into bed and looked at the ceiling. I tried to slap my face and pinch myself, just to make sure that it was not a dream. I still did not believe what they said. I was not a princess.
I closed my eyes and rested my palm on my face. "Wake up, Selene. All of those are just dreams. Wake up." I said those words to myself. But no, it was not a dream. I was in my reality.
"Princess? How could it be possible? I am just a worse-than-average werewolf. My family just adopted me, but how was it possible that the Lycan King lost his child? And claimed that it was me?"
I knew I was adopted by Father, but there was no way that I was originally the daughter of the Lycan King. Right?
I didn't want to feel this. But I was on my way to accepting it and believing what they said.
I raised my neck again and spoke to myself. "A weak werewolf was a long-lost daughter of the Lycan King."
I was gradually replaceing myself forgetting about the events that led up to me replaceing myself here. Riker told me I was mated to him because of his plans, he told me that he had no use for me anymore, denouncing me as his Luna, and finally jumping off the cliff.
What happened to Riker? That Riker wasn't the Riker I knew; something must have changed, but I had no idea of it. These thoughts just briefly flashed through my mind and were soon overshadowed by the lingering and growing joy of being a princess.
What of Father and Lilith? How are they?
I found it hard to process all that was going on, but one thing was certain: my life was about to take a very dramatic turn.
