My Arrogant Mate -
Chapter 34
****
"Devin," I spoke softly to my brother and then waited until he eyed me questioningly. I had a hard time saying the following out loud, but I had to because everything inside me was calling for my mate. "I'll go where I belong now and I hope to see you again soon."
His eyes narrowed, reflecting not only anger but also despair. But it was the right decision. I belonged with Silvan, and as Luna, I would finally have the opportunity to end all this bullshit with tops and bottoms. We could all be united as one big pack soon, at least I hoped so and resolved to push through.
"You're not going anywhere!" Devin suddenly said angrily and stood next to me in front of the front door as if he wanted to stop me.
"Tell me, don't you understand it, or don't you want to understand it? He'll be at the door by this evening at the latest! Do you have to provoke it again so that everything here degenerates?"
I glared at him and never thought I'd be able to hold my own against him like that, but I wasn't the naïve kid he'd like to be anymore.
My destiny let me mature and I understood that it wasn't just Silvan's love that I was given, but also the opportunity to change everything that went so wrong here through my rank.
Devin just didn't see it... out of anger he closed himself off to the opportunities that were being offered to me.
"Let him come. This time I'm prepared," he explained with a grin and lifted his gray sweater a bit so that I was shocked to see a weapon at his side.
"Are you crazy now?" I yelled angrily and looked in horror into the deep blue of his eyes. "Do you think this is the solution???"
"He wanted to shoot me! Me, Jade! The one who always protected you and how do you thank me? By turning your back on me!!!"
I was starting to get a headache from all this clutter around me.
"But he didn't do it! He didn't even know who you were! Besides, I'm not turning my back on you! There are so many bigger things to do than this kindergarten here!"
I shoved him away from the door and tried to get past him, but he pulled me back on my shoulder so roughly that I fell to the ground next to him, giving me a nagging pain in my back. Thanks for that!!!
"Devin! Cut it out!" I yelled up at him and quickly got up, clenching my hands into fists.
"No!" he threatened, getting closer and closer to me. "I'm the one who should be there for you and you never need to be afraid again. I'll take care of you," he said in a growling voice, putting his hand on my cheek and suddenly kissing his lips to get too close. "Oh my God," I blurted out in horror, and then all you could hear was the pop I made on the skin of his cheek with my hand. "What's the shit! Are you still tight?"
He growled, shaking his head at the same time. "You and me! It's always been like that and it always will be like that. You won't just leave me alone!"
Was he completely insane now? It felt like the one in front of me wasn't the Devin I left behind a week ago. He too had changed, and not for the better!
"Listen to me," I said calmly, appealing to his reason, even though he seemed blind with anger at the moment. "I have to go back. He's my mate, my soul mate and he treats me really well! I finally have the opportunity to make a difference at his side. Please understand that and support me," I explained in a last desperate attempt. not to argue with him, but he didn't seem to be listening at all.
"Because of him and his father, our parents are gone. Have you forgotten that?!" He said bitterly at my words and tears came to my eyes immediately.
"And why are they gone? Do you know what papa is accused of?"
I wiped away my tears, but didn't stop looking into his eyes for a second, which darted across my face in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
"Silvan's sister was raped and killed. Silvan said his father thinks it was papa."
Before I could see a reaction on his face, I suddenly felt this tugging pain on my cheek.
"Dare you talk that way about dad again! Jade! What the heck!!!"
He yelled at me angrily, but I held my cheek, which hurt from his blow, and just looked at the ground in sorrow.
"I never said I...I felt that way about him," I breathed out, crying, and then let out a bitter sob. Again Devin wanted to get close to me, but he had hit me... his little sister, who he always said would protect me...
I was so disappointed in him and his constant condemnation that I started slowly morphing in anger.
Driven by my anger, I yanked open the front door, took a step in front of her, and ran crying, only to morph into a wolf in a leap and sprint to the forest.
As the sun shone on my fur and I felt the wind on my face, I tried to go through everything again in my mind...
I was so confused that I once again started doubting everything and everyone, even myself...
It was right to defend Silvan, but was it my right to be mean to my brother?
I felt torn because I was no longer just between two areas, but also between two men, both of whom were tugging at me and my faith...
Desperate, I arrived at the edge of the forest and looked back one last time, but Devin didn't seem to be following me, so I took several deep breaths and then hurriedly disappeared into the trees. Faster and faster, I followed the path to Silvan's house until I caught that acrid smell I smelled the last time the hunter found me.
That was just missing.

SILVAN
What a breathtaking night... what a wonderful woman.
Never before had I felt so good, so exhilarated, so dependent on her closeness after s*x as I did that day.
It bothered me greatly that I was now sitting at my father's conference table and he was making his speech, which I paid no attention to because I would have loved to be in bed with her a thousand times over. Full of anticipation for tonight, I looked out the window, lost in thought, and reviewed the last night again and again.
Her green eyes, which looked at me so fascinated. Her shy touches and yet she was so demanding for more of me, even as the blush in her cheeks kept flashing how embarrassed she was the whole time. And then this feeling of being inside her, being so close to her and feeling her so intensely.
Oh god... my c**k grew just from the thought of her and I really had to pull myself together not to just get up and walk home and claim her.
I would never forget last night and I was sure that I already love her, even if it was really too early to think about such feelings.
"Are you listening to me, Silvan?", I was then reluctantly torn from my thoughts by my father and turned to him annoyed to look at him questioningly.
He was standing at the other end of the dark wooden table while Trevis, Viola and Igor sat between us on the left, their eyes also fixed on me.
"I was thinking," I then admitted, whereupon he immediately angrily banged the table.
"You really need to pull yourself together! We're not talking about trivial things here, we're talking about the hunters who will surely attack us soon!"
Gosh, he got on my nerves. Did he seriously think the hunters would be stopped if we talked fuzzy here? Hardly likely!
"I pull myself together and you don't have to speak to me in that tone!"
I stood up and glared at him just as angrily as he did at me.
"Oh yeah? You're hardly there anymore, since this little boy is dancing through your house," he said with a dirty grin, whereupon Viola also started to giggle cheekily.
I immediately ran around the table towards him, growling, and stood right in front of him, tensing all my muscles in trembling rage.
"You really should watch the way you talk about her, father! Don't forget where your place is!" I warned in a deep voice, spitting my contempt for him out of my mouth.
"And you shouldn't turn against your family because of someone like that!", I heard my sister, who then also felt she had to get up.
"Shut up! Do you really want to provoke me now?!", I turned to her angrily, but before it could escalate completely, Bene suddenly opened the door and looked at me apologetically. "What is it?!" I asked, still shaking with anger, and then watched his face go colorless in shock.
What was the matter with him?
"Jade, she's gone," he brought out excitedly and I immediately felt a pang in my heart that didn't allow me to continue breathing for a moment.
I had to put my hand on the table next to me to keep from falling sideways.
"What do you mean she's gone?" my father asked confused and then it was Viola that got my blood boiling again.
"Well, maybe she's finally back where scum belongs," she laughed and by the moon goddess, if this beast weren't my sister, I would have broken all her bones one by one just for that. "Come with me," I turned to Igor without responding to Viola and then ran ahead of him out of my father's villa to sit directly behind the wheel of the black SUV.
"Where are you going?" asked Bene, who was standing at the open passenger door while Igor quickly buckled his seat belt.
"To her brother. You go to the house and stay there in case she shows up again!" I instructed him angrily and then, as he closed the door, pushed the accelerator pedal to the floor.
"Do you really think she's with him?" Igor asked beside me, and I was momentarily amused to watch this giant cling to the seat in fear, but then reality caught up with me again. "Where else?"
He said nothing more and closed his eyes as I thundered across the bridge at almost 200 km/h. He was probably praying that no tree would get in our way, but I wanted to know where she was as soon as possible.
"You stay in the car," I instructed him when I got to Jade's old house and then hurriedly got out to walk to the front door, which I briefly considered just kicking in, but I wanted to remain peaceful for now.
So after knocking on the door a few times like a guest and getting no response, I pushed the handle down and carefully entered the living room that I had entered a week ago. Only this time I was driven by something other than kidnapping my mate. I just wanted her to be safe...
"Jade?" I called her, because her scent was in the air, but I didn't get an answer, at least not from her.
"Don't you dare turn around," I suddenly heard her brother's voice behind me and immediately afterwards I felt something cold and hard on the back of my head.
Did he seriously just threaten me with a gun?
"Devin, you shall-"
"Shut up," he interrupted me and closed her front door behind me. I just looked straight ahead into the dark hallway and was pretty sure now that she wasn't here anymore.
"Where is she?" I then asked coldly, turning to face him. He didn't think I would be afraid of him. He was so young, barely older than Jade. Such a person would not pull the trigger. Something must have happened between the two and this was just an act of desperation on his part.
He pointed the gun right at my forehead and if he hadn't been shaking so hard I might have actually done that I'll bang you- trick off of him.
"You manipulated her! Convinced her that her father was a murderer and now you're here to kidnap her again! F**k off or I'll pull the trigger!"
He looked at me hatefully, but when I looked blankly into his eyes, he quickly avoided my intense gaze.
You couldn't beat an alpha, no matter how much hatred you carried.
"Devin, please calm down," I tried to speak to him and he could really consider himself lucky to be her brother, otherwise he would have been dead after the first second he threatened me with that gun.
But he meant so much to Jade, and so did I, even if my natural jealousy would stand between us forever.
"You want me to calm down?!", he repeated my words and nervously ran his fingers through his hair, which gave me the opportunity to take his gun from him and now point it at him.
"And now?" I asked angrily, pressing the gun to his neck while his eyes widened and his heart pounded so loudly that even Igor outside, who didn't even have werewolf genes, would hear it.
"Are you going to calm down now?!" I growled at him coldly, only to get a scared nod in return.
F**k! I really had to pull myself together... For her... Because I'd love to pull the trigger after what he'd just done.
