My Arrogant Mate
Chapter 47

"I'm sorry that your prejudices don't allow you to get to know me. You would certainly be surprised," I turned to Silvan's father, who just stared at me disparagingly. "Viola, see you tomorrow."

He gave his daughter a kiss on the cheek, then took one last quick look over us all and disappeared through the snow until he was out of sight at the end of the street. "You don't have to justify yourself to him," Silvan said calmly, but I still felt his body tremble with hatred.

"You know what? You should go to the workshop with Bene," I spoke to him and then caught his eye. He just nodded and the good mood that had just been between all of us was blown away. What remained were thoughtful faces and a stupidly grinning viola whose head I would have loved to dip in the snow.

"Good," Silvan then broke the awkward silence and let go of my hand to close the hood of the car. "We'll be back soon."

He approached me, pulled me into his arms and kissed my cheek several times before turning back to the car.

"Take Viola with you," I called before the two got in and we all looked questioningly at the black-haired girl, who, luckily for me, really wanted to go with me.

"See you later."

I stood next to Igor and together we watched as the car started to move and slowly disappeared down the street.

"We're going to attack now," I then whispered to the freezing Michelin Man, who immediately looked at me in confusion.

"What do you mean by that?"

I looked deep into his eyes and then took several calming breaths.

"You take me to Silvan's father and I'll then talk to him alone. We have to replace out something. I can't hide it all from Silvan for a second longer. It just hurts me incredibly." "And what do you expect from a conversation with him?"

Thoughtfully I looked up at the beautiful blue sky and smiled.

"I just have to somehow pretend to him that I hate my father and that I'm glad I'm off the lowly side. Maybe hating one person together is enough to bring me closer to him."

Igor nodded, but he didn't seem convinced of my plan. I also thought it was shit and not very well thought out, but the ball had to start rolling slowly.

Together we trudged through the crunchy snow and didn't say a word. Igor seemed lost in thought just like me and only when we got to the street in front of the villa after about 20 minutes did we break our silence.

"Maybe you'll really get him to listen and accept you, but he would never tell you that he killed Lisanna."

"He doesn't, but Lisanna's and Silvan's mother also lives in this villa, and I just have to speak to her once. She certainly knows everything and could help me."

"Or betray you and then heads will roll."

I swallowed hard and then my eyes widened in disbelief when I suddenly saw Silvan's SUV parked across the street.

"How could they be so fast?!", I turned excitedly to Igor, who seemed to be frozen himself. How should we explain what we were doing here?

"Come with me," Igor said and pulled me by the sleeve into the small shop behind us.

I didn't pay any attention to what kind of store it was. I was too busy watching through the large window as Silvan got out alone and walked straight towards us.

"Shit," came out of Igor and the door of the shop opened.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Silvan asked me and looked at me intently with his dark eyes while carefully closing the glass door behind him. Updated by Ebookex.com; visit us for more free novels.

"The question is, what are you doing here?" I immediately blurted out nervously.

"My father called me that you guys are watching his house, that's why I'm here. Would you explain to me what this is about?"

"Watching his house?" I laughed hysterically, patting Igor on the shoulder, who just looked at me for help. "What nonsense. I ... I wanted to buy something here. That's why we're here," I added in panic and watched Silvan excitedly as he looked around the store, completely perplexed.

I too then took a look at the shelves behind me and gasped in shock.

Pipes, cigars and chewing tobacco... Beautiful shit!

"Didn't know that you like to chew tobacco," my mate pulled me out of my thoughts and I immediately nodded and swallowed hard.

"Yes. From time to time," I said sheepishly and immediately he walked past me to one of the shelves and took three packages in his hand to open them.

"Favorite kind?" he then asked, looking deep into my eyes, making my hands tremble.

"Oh," I shrugged nervously and smiled wryly. "They are all good."

"Here," he then handed me one of the packs, which I accepted with wide eyes. "Try it. I don't want you to have to stop doing that because of me."

I immediately wanted to give him the pack back, but he wouldn't allow it and looked at me expectantly.

I glanced at Igor and cursed him for not coming up with anything. Then I looked back down at the packet in my hands and took some of the contents between my fingers. It felt disgusting and just looked gross, but I guess I had to go through with it. I stuffed some of the stuff into my mouth and immediately had to choke back a gag. It was the most disgusting thing I'd ever tasted, but I smiled and chewed on it like it was expired gum.

"Mhhhhh, so delicious," I then brought out and then quickly swallowed this tough mass. The taste spread on my tongue and I was sure that I would never get rid of this disgust.

"You don't swallow that, you spit it out," Igor whispered to me and, frustrated about it all, I looked at Silvan again, who looked angrier than ever.

"Get out! Now!", he suddenly yelled at us, so that my tobacco almost came up again from shock and I quickly ran after Igor out of the smelly little shop.

"You know what! I hate being lied to and I've had enough! I want to know why you're watching my dad right away!"

Chewing nervously on my bottom lip, I avoided Silvan's angry face and looked down in shame.

I understood his reaction and that he must have felt betrayed, but if I told you everything I knew he would turn around and storm into his father's mansion and probably shoot him with a headshot. "Jade!" he growled, roughly grabbing my wrist so that I looked into his dark eyes in shock.

"I... I..." I started stuttering, but I couldn't get any further when Igor spoke up.

"We found out that Jade's father isn't her real father, but Lisanna's father," he blurted out and immediately Silvan's grip on my wrist tightened.

His eyes drifted over to Igor, whom he stared at in disbelief while his breathing quickened. I was really scared at that moment that he was about to transform and lose control, but I didn't let it show. "Yes," I commented quietly, taking a deep breath as his eyes locked on mine again. "And since I learned from Kaidan what gift i-"

"When were you with Kaidan?!", he interrupted me in a loud voice and his grip slowly got so strong that my wrist started to hurt...

"You're hurting me!" I explained in a trembling voice and tried to free my hand, but he suddenly pulled me so close to his face that I stopped breathing in shock.

His irises flitted across my face and there was only condemnation and hate in them, making my heart ache.

He snorted derisively, let go of my hand and turned to his car, ignoring us.

"Silvan, let me explain."

I wanted to grab his hand, but he immediately jerked it away and just kept walking across the street.

"Get out!", he yelled when he opened the car door and while Viola and Bene got out of the car completely irritated, he took a seat in the driver's seat and then fled with squealing tires.

With tears in my eyes I looked after the car and cursed myself. Why didn't I just tell him everything?!?!

If he then killed his father, that would have been the case, but at least he would still trust me, which was probably no longer the case.

"You did a great job," Viola snapped at me when she and Bene joined us.

"Never mind! This isn't her fault," Igor defended me, causing Viola to target the big one.

"How sweet of you to protect her, but freaks stick together, don't they?" she said contemptuously and then turned away from us to walk to her father's villa.

I still felt frozen and in a total panic that I wouldn't be able to do everything well anymore.

"Listen to me."

Igor grabbed my shoulders and shook me as if trying to wake me from this nightmare.

"You're going home now. Tell him everything, except about his father. Everything will be fine," he tried to comfort me while the first tears ran down my cheeks.

"What are you talking about?" Bene then asked behind me, whereupon Igor let go of my shoulders and turned to him.

"I'll explain everything to you in a moment. So Jade, go home and talk to him. He'll understand."

I nodded, wiped away my tears and gave the two of them a quick look before crossing my arms and walking quickly home through the snow.

Igor was certainly right. Silvan would understand... at least I hoped so. I mean, I understood him too. It was shitty enough for him that I had secrets with Bene that he only found out so late and now also with Igor...

But I just wanted to save him from a mistake... Didn't want to be the one who would cause him so much pain with the truth...

Yes, I was a coward...

When I finally got home, I didn't see any off-road vehicle in sight, which immediately worried me again.

Only Martha was still there in the house, who looked at me sympathetically and immediately offered me tea, but I politely said no and immediately looked for my way upstairs to sit on the bed and wait.

I just sat there staring at the white wall feeling nauseous and hoping to hear the front door soon... which I did after a while, but it was Martha who called it a day.

Completely frustrated, I then fell back onto the bed, closed my eyes and fell asleep wrapped in sadness.

A bang from below startled me out of my sleep. My heart was racing and it took me a moment to orient myself and get my bearings. Then, glancing at the window, I realized that it was already dark outside and hurriedly got out of bed.

I ran out of the room, down the stairs and then looked into the kitchen, where I saw Silvan sitting on one of the stools and holding his mobile phone.

The lights down here were all off except for a small one above him, which made everything look a lot darker, but I still wanted to clear things up now.

"Silvan," I said his name softly and stood opposite him on the kitchen island, but he didn't even look up.

I took a closer look at him and suddenly got different smells in my nose, which completely consumed me.

He smelled like whisky, cigarettes but there was also the smell of Melania clinging to him which made me clench my fists in anger.

"Where have you been?!" I asked angrily, but again he ignored me.

"Silvan?!" I tried louder again, which made him look up at me.

"What do you care?" he retorted, cold and completely unemotional, which made my heart ache.

"Please stop," I begged, wanting to put my hand on his, but he immediately pulled his back and stood up to glare at me.

"You keep doing your thing, I'll do mine!"

He was about to go to the stairs when I held his arm back and looked at him in despair.

"Please talk to me!"
