My Bloody Revenge
Chapter 19: Planning

Almost a month has passed since arriving here and four days since Jaze bit her. Thinking of thatstormy day that made her end up here, Lyra can't grasp how well things turned at the end. Onlything she thought of back then was to get as far away as possible, nothing else mattered. Nowshe sits in a lavished decorated room, filled to the brim with all kinds of books, canvases andwhatever else that comes to mind. No one yells at her or demands to be pleased. It has takensome getting used to but both Jaze and Lydoran are nothing but patient with her and each daythey keep reassuring her that everything is oaky. Always making sure she never feels left outand explains when it's obvious she doesn't follow in a conversation. Every time a nightmarehaunts her sleep Jaze is there comforting her without questioning. Some things are still a workin progress such as self-doubt and flinching around fast movements or when caught off guardbut with them by her side she hopes there will be a day when those things don't scare heranymore.

"Amazing."

Jumping from the sudden sound she almost falls out of the chair. "You scared me Jaz."

"Jazz? Music?" Jaze asks surprised.

"Ehm...it's your nickname? Is it bad?" Bad thoughts invade her head immediately making herfeel insecure when he only looks at her without speaking. She didn't mean to offend him. Nottaking any initiatives of her own would probably have been for the best. Yet something aboutthe nickname appeals to her.

"No one has ever given me a nickname before." He states thoughtfully. "I like it and I love thatpainting."

Relieved she sighs quietly. "I was afraid you might not like it." Lyra confesses.

"The painting?"

"What? No! The nickname." she speaks fast.

"That's better.” chuckles with a wink.

"You tricked me?"

"Yeah, you looked on the verge of hiding in your seat. Speaking of hiding, you have been herealmost a month and never stepped foot outside, so let's have fun.”

"Fun?"

"You still need clothes of your own so some shopping, as promised, then afterwards somemuch needed fun at the theme park. Thought your room could need a stuffed animal or two."Speechless her mouth opens and closes not able to fully comprehend what he just said. Themeparks and clothing stores has so far been nothing but names and farfetched fantasies, dreamsnever meant to be experienced. "I can go with you?"

"That goes without saying little mouse. Wouldn't be fun without you.” he says leaning downand softly wipes away a few stray tears.

"Can I ask Lyd to come too or will he dislike it?"

Smiling he grabs her hand dragging her away from the main library back into the formerservants’ quarters then all the way to the kitchen. Entering the kitchen Lydoran is busy platingtheir food.

"Little mousy here has something to ask you." Jaze declares loudly taking a seat at the kitchentable.

"Oh?"

Taking a plate from Lydoran she sits down next to Jaze as she usually does."Ehm...Jaz is takingme shopping the to a theme park..want to come with us?" Feeling her cheeks heat up she iscertain her face has turned a few shades of red.

"HELL YEAH!" Lydoran suddenly shouts doing a happy dance. "Okay, lets shop till we drop thenstuff us full at the mall before heading off to the park. We are going to ride all attractionsbefore winning lots of stuffed animals. Oooh, don't forget cotton candy."

Stunned by his sudden hyped up outburst she forgets to eat and keeps staring at him. In lessthan a minute he went from his usual self to being a little child. It amazes her. Turning to Jazeshe asks "You knew he would be like this, that's why you only smiled?”

"Hey, Lydoran, Lyra has never been to a mall or a theme park before.”

"WHAT!" he shouts even louder than the first time. "I will make sure you don't miss a thingkitten. It will be AMAZING!"

"Calm down and eat your food before it gets cold. Jeez, acting like a crazy person on drugs andenergy drinks." Jaze scolds shaking his head

Lyra can't help but laugh at his crazy antics. Being around these two is never boring or short onlaughter. Its somehow ironic how predators, that drinks the blood of others, are the ones toshow her compassion and a sense of belonging. Laughter has never been a part of her and nowshe laughs every day.

"Thanks. To the both of you.”

The bickering stops and both looks at her with equally puzzled expressions. “Not really surewhy, but your welcome?" Jaze says looking at his maker for help.

"Feels more like we should be the ones thanking you. Ever since Jaze found you things havebeen brighter around here. More fun and not only because of our latest topi-"

"Nicely put “dad’, until the last part.” Jaze teases.

"As I was saying.” Lydoran continues while sending Jaze a glare. "It warms my heart to see mykid" smile and be relaxed like he is now and it's all because of you kitten. The fact that he hastaken three days off proves my point so thank you."

"Way to ruin the surprise.” Jaze pouts in disappointment. "I was going to surprise her at thetheme park.”

Shrugging dismissively Lydoran starts stuffing his mouth with food to which Jaze only rolls hiseyes before also tucking into his lunch. Lyra is buzzing with excitement by now and has a hardtime remining still long enough to eat her food yet none of them admonishes her for her badtable manners. As usual they only smile at her.
