My Hunted Mate
Chapter Twelve

Corinna

The further away from the house that I got, the more my heart sank, bytime I'd reached the apple orchard I felt as though it now found apermeant place in my stomach but I didn't stop running.

Dashing through the forest, I swerve in and out of the trees onlyslowing when I caught a scent. A very weird scent, but one that wasfamiliar to me from when [ first escaped my pack. A hunter, actuallyhunters, tonnes of them.

Being cautious, I follow the scents until I replace myself hiding in busheswatching as at least fifty hunters wander around out the front of a bigcabin. It seemed half of them were staying in the cabin while the restcamped out in tents on the land in front of it, keeping myself fullyaware of my surroundings, I begin to move from my spot around theperimeter.

When I get to the back of the cabin I discover a small storage shed thathad two hunters with guns standing guard outside it, I think back toMalakai telling me about hunters possibly kidnapping one of thevampire’s in his clan and realise if they were going to be keeping heranywhere, it would be in there.

Not giving myself a chance to think myself out of it, I silently creepforward toward to two hunters who talk between themselves, completely unaware of my presence. It takes me seconds to tear thetwo of them apart and shift back, I use all my strength to kick open thedoor to replace a black haired girl, who looks like she couldn't possibly bepast her teens and is the spitting image of Josephine.

My breathing slightly accelerates at the thought of her but I ignore theflashes of her face I'd gotten from under the water earlier in the nightand run over to the girl who is hanging from the ceiling on chains andhas a gag around her mouth that seems to be soaked in somethingthat is burning into her skin, I rip it off her straight away making herwhimper.

"I'm sorry about that. " I whisper.

"Who the hell are you? " The girl narrows her green eyes at me, she isdefinitely related to Josephine.

" My name is Corinna. I'm gonna get you out of here okay? " I whisperto her.

She seems to take a moment to weigh her options then nods. * Thechains... They're like indestructible or something. "

Pursing my lips, I look at the chains carefully before reaching my handup and touching them, instantly I feel the energy humming throughthem. They're spelled... I've never met a witch who would be willing tohelp hunters, they hate all supernaturals. I take hold of a chain in eachhand, chanting quietly as I drain the magic from them. When energystops humming, so do I.

Looking up at the girl, I nod my head, signalling for her to try freeherself. The chains break from the bolts on the ceiling as soon as shetugs on them, a large grin crosses her face. " I don't really know whatyou did, but thank you. I'm Olive. "

" No problem, now let's get the hell out of here. " I smile, but it dropsthe minute we step outside only to bump into another two hunters thathave just found their dead friends.

Cursing under my breath, I shift into my wolf running straight for them. This time because there is no element of surprise, it's a little moredifficult but I take them down in seconds once more. I drag the fourbodies into the shed, then shift back stripping them of random articlesof clothing until I'm fully dressed in the torn, bloody clothes.

Using the long sleeve from the dark grey sweater I'm wearing to wipethe blood from around my mouth until I feel it's gone, I wander backout to where Olive is waiting for me. She looks at me in confusion whenshe takes in my clothes.

* Listen, you need to get out of here and back to your clan. Your sisteris looking for you. " I tell her.

" My sister? How do you know Josie? Aren't you coming with me? Areyou gonna do something? What are you gonna do? " She speedsthrough her questions.

"I met your sister earlier tonight. I'm not coming with you and I'mgonna deal with these hunters. " I answer.

" But. You- "

"1 need you to go, I've got this but I do need a favour before you go. " Icut her off, she frowns at me but nods anyway. " I need you to bite meand I need it to be messy. "

" What? Why in the hell would I do that? " She whispers loudly.

"1 need a distraction, an advantage. " I explain, it seems to click for herthen and she nods.

Olive moves closer to me, placing one hand on my right shoulder andanother on the left side of my head, she tugs at my hair making melean my head to the side to give her access. She leans in.

" This is gonna hurt, I'm sorry. * She whispers, then bites into my neck.My eyes clench shut and my teeth clench as she starts to move herhead, ripping into my neck for a minute or so before she pulls back, Ihold out my arms and she does the same twice on my left arm andonce on my right wrist.

" Okay that should be enough, you're covered in their blood too so itlooks like you've been bitten way more. " She mutters, wiping the blooddripping from her chin.

" Thank you. Go now, no matter what don't turn back. " I demand, nodding my head in the direction I came from.

When Olive is out of sight, I run toward the campsite screaming andpretending to cry.

" Help! " I scream hysterically, holding my bleeding neck for effect whileI run out onto the grass in front of the cabin where the tents are.

A bunch of the hunters see me straight away and run to me, asking mewhat happened. " My friends and I... We.. We were " I quickly think backto Gia. " Camping, these creatures they came out of the darkness andattacked us! They're all dead! Please, please you can't let them get me,Please! " I fake sob.

" What's going on? " A man calls out while walking out of the cabin, Iknow instantly he's the one in charge.

" This girl, she's been attacked sir. " One of the boys who was standingaround me answers him, confirming my thoughts by calling him sir andthe way he's avoiding eye contact.

Before any of them can react, my claws are extended and my hand is inthe man's chest pulling his heart from his body, I kill the hunters whocircled me easily too. The rest of them are kicked into hunter modenow, I hold out my hands chanting quickly and instantly ten of them fallto the ground screaming in pain and continue to do so while I fight offand kill another two. I shift into my wolf and begin to viciously tearthrough every hunter in sight, not without getting plenty of cuts andhits.

As I rip apart the last handful, I feel something sharp hit my back, thepain rushes through me and I growl loudly as I finish beheading thehunter beneath me before dropping to the grass, whimpering in paindue to the arrow lodged in my flesh. There are only three hunters left, surrounded by their friends thanks to me.

The three of them creep towards me, getting ready to kill me when oneof them falls to the floor with her heart laying beside her, another fallsto the floor with a snapped neck and the last one's body falls to thefloor right in front of me while his head remains in my mate's handwhile he stands staring down at me, I gaze into his lovely blue eyesuntil I fade into darkness.
