Chapter Fourteen

Corinna

It took me what felt like hours but was only minutes to calm down as Itook in deep breaths of the summer air and Malakai's scent. He haddressed me in a dark red knitted jumper belonging to him prior tocarrying me away from the house, I clung tightly to him with my face inhis chest and my bare legs over his lap, while held me in his arms nowsitting down somewhere.

When I fully came back to my senses, I lift my head looking around toreplace we were swinging back and forth on a black metal bench lined withsoft white cushions, that was bolted to the ceiling of a rustic lookingstone gazebo surrounded by apple trees, bushes with multicolouredflowers and small strawberry plants. The sky is still dark somehow, themoon is full and shining brightly, accompanied by the stars.

" Where are we? And how is it still dark out? " I whisper.

" We're still on my grounds, just away from the house. And it's still darkbecause you were passed out for the entire day. * Malakai mumblesback to me, stroking my hair in a calming manner. " Are you going totell me what happened back there? "

I bite my lip, knowing I'd have to at least somewhat explain my episode." I. I've been running from some people. can't tell you who..and I'vehad to do somethings that I also can't tell you.. I guess thinking aboutwhat Josephine did just.. " My mind is fuzzy as I try to explain, but whenI mention Josephine doing something he freezes.

" What did she do? " He asks.

"1." I trail off, not knowing what to do.

* Cori, what did she do to you? " He grounds out.

Hesitantly, I bring my eyes up to meet his and I begin to recall hercoming into the bathroom. I watch as his blue eyes turn pitch blackthroughout my telling of what happened, veins move down his undereyes and his fangs make an appearance. Without a word, he gently liftsme off of him to sit me down on the cushion beside him, he thenstands up and starts stalking off, my guess is back toward the house.Jumping to my feet, I rush after him. Within minutes we are back at thehouse, walking over the stream and up onto the porch, where Malakaiswings open the door so roughly that the glass shatters into a millionlittle pieces, earning every vampire's attention in the room.

" Where is she? " He hisses out. " Josephine. WHERE IS SHE?! *

The vampire's surrounding us seem either to flinch at Malakai's angeror take a step back, I on the other hand walk towards him andcautiously place a hand under his shirt and on his back. He relaxes everso slightly, until she walks into the room laughing about somethingwith Phoenix.

Phoenix notices the shattered glass and furious looking brother first, hislaughter coming to a halt immediately. * What's going on, Brother? *Malakai doesn't answer, instead he is across the room and pinningJosephine to the wall by her neck with such a force that the wall cracks,little bits of dust and stone fall onto the ground, this all happenswithout anyone having a chance to blink. * How fucking dare you! " heshouts.

Josephine's eyes are wide as her heel covered feet dangle off theground. " Mal, put me down. " She wheezes out.

" Why would I after what you've done?

"1 don't know what you're talking about. * She tells him.

" Maybe I should drown you to refresh your memory! * He roars,realisation clicks in her eyes which then flicker to me then back to him.She is my beloved ! How DARE YOU! "

" Please Mal, I'm sorry. Please stop this! " She begs.

" You apologise to Corinna and you do it NOW. " He tighten his hold onher neck, forcing her further against the wall, making it crack more."I'm sorry! " She chokes out.

" Look at her! " Malakai roars, seeming like he's seconds away fromsnapping completely.

Her fear struck eyes meet my shocked ones. " I'm so sorry Corinna. *With that Malakai drops her to the floor, pacing back and forth as shecoughs in a ball on the floor. " I should kill you. " He says, clenching hisfists.

I don't process myself moving across the room until I'm right in front ofhim, looking into his black eyes and gripping his face in my hands. " Kai,it's okay. Just relax. It's alright. " I whisper to him, moving my right handinto his hair, playing with it gently.

His eyes close and body slowly relaxes in my touch, he leans hisforehead against mine and wraps his arms around my waist, holdingme to him tightly. Everything is silent around us, everyone too scared tomove an inch after the scene that just unfolded before them.

When his eyes open they're back to their normal blue, staring at meintensely. " I like when you call me Kai. " he sends me a small smile,almost making me laugh at how drastically different what he just saidwas in comparison to the threats he was making not even five minutesago.

“Ill do it more often then. " I mutter.

He lifts his head, pressing his lips to my forehead for a few secondsthen he moves away from me. His eyes fall onto Josephine, turning coldinstantly. I reach out, grabbing his hand and intertwine our fingerstogether, he gives my hand a light squeeze.

* Josephine, you are banished from this clan and this land. I want yougone . Pack your things and say your goodbyes immediately. * Heannounces.

Josephine's head snaps up. " Don't do this please Mal- "

" You will not call me by anything other than my given name and youwill do what has been asked of you. " Kai cuts her off.

" What about Olive? " Josephine asks, tears forming in her eyes.

" She has done nothing wrong, she is still a member of this clan. As Isaid before, pack and say your goodbyes. You'll be gone within thehour or I will rip your head from your shoulders. * He warns her.

He turns his back on her and starts leading me out toward the stairs, aswe start to walk them together he calls down for anyone to hear him. *Someone fix the patio before the sun comes up.
