Chapter Twenty Eight

Corinna

Sighing I snap the book I'm reading closed, turning my head on Kai'sstomach to look up at him but the cover of a book is blocking my view.Sitting up, I grab his book tossing it to the side, his eyebrow rise inreaction to my actions.

" Something wrong? " He asks.

Something was wrong, I hadn't shifted in just over a week ago atDahlia's party and I was getting antsy. I never liked being out of touchwith my wolf for too long, It made unwelcome and unhelpful emotionsbubble within me until they exploded and that was usually very ugly.

" Let's go out today. " I demand.

" Okay. " Kai chuckles. * Where would you like to go? *

"1 don't know, anywhere, everywhere. Somewhere I can shift because ifI haven't ran around on four paws by the end of the day, I think I'll losemy mind and trust me you don't wanna deal with me in that state. " Irant.

" So we'll go out, there's plenty of land around. " He tells me, jumpingout of bed.

My eyes scan his half naked body as he walks over to his closet, hedisappears inside for a couple of seconds, reappearing with blackskinny jeans covering his legs and an unbuttoned short sleeve navyshirt revealing his torso to me.

He zips the zipper on his pants, buttoning them closed then his eyesmeet mine. ” You coming?

Pulling my bottom lip into my mouth, I nod, awkwardly scurrying out ofthe bed and into my room where I dress myself in a floral off theshoulder sundress that falls just above my knees, leaving my feet bareand my hair to freely fall in blonde waves down to my waist.

Kai meets me in the hallway and we walk downstairs with our handsintertwined. A couple of people greet us as we walk by but two peoplestop us from walking out onto the porch when they call Malakai'sname.

We both turn to replace a black man and woman, both have golden browneyes and identical features. Twins. The man begins to converse with Kai,as he ties his dreads up out of his face. I look over at the woman whostudies me intently, her auburn hair is in neat braids that fall down justpast her full breasts, her plump lips have a deep shade of red lipstickcoating them, other than that and a small amount of mascara, there'sno other trace of any makeup, not that she needed it with her highcheekbones and stunning features. She's a couple of inches taller thanme and sends me a small grin showing off her perfect teeth

" Hi, I'm Sabine. You're Mal's Beloved right? * She greets.

" Yeah, I'm Corinna. It's nice to meet you. " I give her an awkward smile,she holds out her hand which I quickly shake.

" Sorry to stop you guys on your way out, my brother Darius insisted hetalk business now. " Sabine apologises.

" Oh, it's no problem. What business if you don't mind me asking. * Myeyes flickering over to my mate and Darius who have walked over tothe corner of the room beside the pool table.

" It's nothing to worry about, just a couple of wolves lingering aroundthe borders of our land. " She informs me.

My heart rate picks up. " Wolves? How many? "

She gives me a look of curiosity but answers anyway. " The same group,only about seven or eight of them. "

I nod. " Any idea where they came from? *

Sabine shakes her head, looking more suspicious of me by the second."No, no clue."

Malakai and Darius walk back over to us, Kai wraps his arm around mywaist. " Okay thanks again Darius, let me know if there's anything else.We'll hold that meeting this week. " He finishes up his conversationthen turns to me. " You ready? "

I nod to him then turn back to the twins in front of us. * It was lovelymeeting you Sabine. " I tell her, with a smile.

" Yeah, you too. " She says but there's something in her eyes thatscreams that she doesn't trust me and makes me think otherwise.Malakai says a quick goodbye to them, then leads me out of the houseand garden. He sends me a grin, watching me intently as I begin to liftmy dress over my head. I shove his arm with a blush on my face,making him laugh.

" You've never been shy before. " he teases.

" Shut up. " By now my face is bright red. " You've never stared at melike this before. It's creepy *

He holds his hands up in surrender, averting his gaze. I lift the dress upand over my head, dropping it at my feet leaving my bare bodycompletely exposed. When I look back up at him, his eyes are hungrilytaking in my body.

Biting my lip, I take a couple steps in front of him then shift into mywolf, immediately taking off in a sprint. He runs after me, the two of usrunning so fast that to anyone around his we were just two colourfulblurs.

Yipping happily, I slow my pace down to a trot as we approach the lake.Kai calls out to me as I casually stroll into the water until I'm fullsubmerged under it, I shift back, poking my head out of the water tosee him standing there with worried eyes than relax when they meetmine.

" You coming or are you just gonna stand there? " I call out to him witha smirk on my face.
