Chapter Fourty Three

Corinna

The clouds in the sky that burst with colour, fade much too quickly intodarkness for the liking of anyone here before I knew it, I replace myselfstanding out in the back of the pack house with Alpha Jack, Gia,Cameron, Garrett, Kai and our group from the clan.

We all stand around in silence, waiting for what's about to happen toGia, the only sounds around us are crickets chirping, owls hooting andthe wind rustling the leaves on the tall trees beyond the clearing.Everyone flinches when Gia lets out a loud pitched scream, falling tothe ground on her hands and knees with a thud, staying as calm aspossible, I kneel down in front of her, whispering to her, reminding herthat she has support around her and the strength to get through this.As the minutes pass Gia's body temperature starts to go up, showingthrough the sweat marking her shirt and lining her forehead. She letsout another scream of pain, unable to hold herself up as she falls ontoher side, the panic rolls off of Jack in waves in response to this.

" Jack, you need to remain calm. " I remind him, grabbing a cloth from abowl of ice water we have brought outside with a couple of othersupplies, dabbing it across Gia's flushed face. " She doesn't need to befeeling any strong emotions that aren't hers as her senses heighten. *Again, another ear numbing scream is released from Gia as she beginsto twist around on the ground, trying to fight the pain. I hear Jack letout a curse as his mate, starts to cry, begging for someone to make thepain stop.

"Jack, listen to me, you need to go inside and get your shit together. Isay, although my words are harsh, my tone remains level and calm. Theentire time, I keep my eyes only on Gia, but I hear the struggle betweenPhoenix, Mateo and Garrett to get Jack inside until he's calm enough tobe here.

"It's too much Rina. " Gia cries, hugging her arms around herself as shebegins to shake. " I'm too hot, everything hurts. *

" You're okay, just breathe. " I mumble, grabbing a bottle of cold waterand unscrewing the lid.

Lifting the bottle over Gia's head, I shield her eyes with my free hand,pouring the water onto her forehead and allow it to fall over her hair,wetting it in hopes the cool air and water will help with hertemperature.

I bring the bottle to her lips afterward, letting her take a huge gulpfrom it before I put the lid back on. A loud crack cuts through the air,followed by Gia screaming once again, her voice breaks as she does.She screws her eyes shut taking deep pants of breath, when shereopens her eyes the flick from a glowing pastel green, to her normalhazel colour and continue to do so as more of her bones break.

"I'm too hot! " She screams, I frantically turn to the others who are allstanding around watching with either pained or freaked outexpressions.

Realising they won't be much help, I lean over, gripping the hem ofGia's shirt and yoga pants, tearing them off of her body. Moving asquickly as I can, I grab the bowl of ice water throwing it over her halfnaked form.

She lets out a brief gasp of relief but it's cut off by another scream andsnap of her bones. " Go get more bowls of ice water. * I demand, not toanyone in particular from the group behind me, I'm relieved when Ihear footsteps taking off immediately.

" Fuck! This is too much! " Gia roars as multiple snaps of bone followone another the other.

" You're doing really well, you just have to keep breathing through it. " Iinform her, lifting the bottle of water to her lips again, she gulps downsome of it, but most ends up dribbling around her face and the last bitof water, I use to re-wet her hair.

"1 can't! * She sobs, desperately grabbing at the dirt beneath her andrepeated the words over and over again.

" Okay, uh, fuck. " I curse under my breath, just as Sabine runs up withmore ice water, I nod my head toward Gia and she instantly tosses thewater over her body.

Pushing down my panic, I look up at Cameron. " I need you to go getyour Alpha. "I tell him.

Worry floods his eyes as he takes off running to the house, returningwith Jack, who seems a little calmer but extremely pained by thesituation. " There's a spell I can do, to ease her pain, I think that's howshe'll get through this. * I tell him.

"Then do it! " Jack growls, making me narrow my eyes at him.

" The issue is, is that for me to take her pain, I need to transfer it intosomeone else. I assume you'll be willing to do that? " I ask, he nodsstraight away, dropping down beside me.

" Alpha, are you sure about this? " Garrett questions, looking wary ofme.

" Garrett, shut the fuck up. " Jack snarls, before turning to me. * Whatdo I have to do? *

" Move on to her other side and give me your hands. " I order, hequickly does as he's asked.

Taking Jack's hands in mine, I close my eyes and begin to chant. Thewind picks up, howling around us, as Gia pants harshly mumbling thatit's not as painful at the same time Jack tenses up and he groans inpain.

Keeping my eyes closed, I zone out from everything around me andinto the harsh wind, continuing to chant for hours until I feel a hand onmy shoulder and a voice calling to me, when I open my eyes a goldenwolf with red paws and glowing pastel green eyes is picking itself off ofthe ground and Jack looks completely exhausted but completelyoverjoyed as he watches his newly transformed mate, growl at himplayfully.

My eyes begin to feel heavy as I see Jack shift into his wolf to run withhis mate, I try to stand but end up falling back into Kai, who catches mewith ease and picks me up into his arms, carrying me toward the house,asking if someone could get a doctor for me.
