Corinna

* Cori, you've just given birth do you really think this is the-" Gia starts, but I cut her off with a warning glare.

" There is no time to argue this. " I growl, turning to Kai. " Now, eventhough my body heals fast, it doesn't heal that fast, so I'm going toneed your blood. "

He looks away like he's weighing his options, until his face crinkles for afew seconds and he brings his wrist to his mouth, extending his fangsand biting into the flesh.

Without hesitation, I grab his wrist gulping down the blood, feeling mystrength returning as I do so, as the euphoric feeling grows, I detachmyself from him.

" We need someone to look after Elias. " I announce.

" Brother, you stay. " Kai directs toward Phoenix, who's eyes dartbetween us until I nod in agreement.

"You're sure about this? " Phoenix questions, gently taking Elias into hisarms.

* Of course. " I smile, moving the bed sheets away from my body andstanding to my feet.

My clothing had been replaced with a blue hospital gown, notbothering to change, I place a small kiss on Elias’ forehead, promisinghim I would be back soon.

Kai takes a moment with our newborn also before we join hands andexit the room with Jack and Gia following behind.

The house is completely abandoned as we run through it, but thesecond we step outside the strong overwhelming scent of blood andburning flesh cuts through my senses.

Kai's phone begins to ring loudly from the pocket of his jeans, heanswers it but never stops moving. Listening to the voice on the otherend, I watch as he shakes his head. "Dahlia? No no, stay where you are, don't return home yet."

Dahlia's panicked voice fills my ears as I tune into the conversation. *Why? Mal, What's wrong? "

" We're being attacked, Corinna's pack, they're here. So stay where youand your beloved are safe, Sister. " Kai doesn't give her a chance toreply before he ends the call.

When we reach the lake, the smell only increases, I replace myselfswallowing hard at the sight of the blood covered grass, the bodies ofthe dead either ripped apart in a bloody mess on the ground orburning until they're unrecognisable.

Not wanting to just stand around watching any longer, I take offrunning throwing myself into the lake to help the clan members whoare fighting viscously already.

On the other end of the lake, two of my old pack members slowly lowerthemselves into the water, their eyes glued on me, with evil smirks ontheir faces.

As I continue to push my way through the water, I hold up my hands intheir direction, chanting loudly until their necks snap and they falllifeless into the lake.

Just I'm climbing onto the grass, three wolves come thundering towardme, the first one collides with my body sending me flying to the floorbut suddenly the wolf falls slack.

Pushing the body off of mine, my gaze falls to the other two deadwolves, their heats lay at the feet of my mate who holds out his bloodcovered hand to me.

Kai helps me to my feet, planting a quick kiss on my lips. " Be careful, Ilove you. " He sends me a sly wink before running off in a flash to helpout a member of his clan, who was being overpowered by two wolves. My eyebrows raise as my mate wraps his arms around their necks whichhe snaps easily, letting the bodies drop to the floor with a thud.Turning my attention back to the fight, I push myself into a run, myeyes falling on the wolves around me, as I see one pushing off theground to attack Sabine, who was tearing through any wolf who cameat her furiously, but couldn't see this one coming, I leap towards thewolf, shifting mid air, easily tearing it apart.

Sabine snaps her head toward me, sending me a small smile then turnsher attention back to the fight. Each time a clan members falls, I replacemyself growing more furious and easing my rage by tearing apartgroups upon groups of the wolves.

Ahead of me, I notice my cousin Elliot's wolf, fighting against Darius, just as he gets Darius to the floor and goes to sink his teeth into him, Ithrow myself on top of him.

We roll around on the floor, taking chunks out of each other with ourteeth and claws, blood gushes from my wounds, coating my fur mattingit together in an unpleasant way.

Finally I pin him to the ground, roughly tearing the front of his throatfrom his neck, then I run off, leaving him to bleed out and die alone. My eyes spot my father in the distance, making a loud enraged grow!echo through the trees as I remember how he slit Helena's throatwithout a care or a second thought, all for a warning of a war that wasbound to happen from the moment he and my uncle made thedecision to hunt me.

Sprinting toward him, I continue to viscously end any wolf who gets inmy way, but as I get closer to my father who is ripping through our clanmembers, my gaze falls on my mate who is being attacks by sevenwolves at once, all the while my uncle is getting closer to him, blooddripping from his canines.

Immediately I change my course, pushing myself to get to him asquickly as possible. Relief begins to flood me as he takes down three ofthe seven wolves, but my relief vanishes in a cloud of smoke as I watchmy uncle leap into the air and tear my mate's head clean off of hisbody.

Loud whimpers of grief and hopelessness erupt from my body, my runslows dramatically as my uncle shifts back, lifting my mate's head fromthe ground by his hair, smirking directly at me as his tosses it into theflames that were already burning another lifeless body.
