" You're half witch! Chant and wave your hands around and bring mybrother back! " Dahlia screams, her eyes bloodshot from the tearsrushing down her face.

By now the clan have gone back to their homes to mourn their leader,Dahlia, Lila, Atticus, Sabine and Phoenix, who hands Elias in his arms,are all sitting in the living room along with me.

" That type of magic has consequences Dahlia! " I shout back, taking abreath and tugging at the sweater belonging to Kai that covers mybody as I attempt to compose myself. * I could try bring him back and itmight not work at all and I could die in the process, or if it does work itcould cost someone else's life, he could come back half mad or onlycome back temporarily. *

" Do you love him at all?! Don't you think it's worth the risk? * Dahlianarrows her eyes.

Something inside me snaps, a rough loud growl erupts from my chestand my eyes glow brightly. " Of course I love him! He is my mate. But Ihave never risked this type of magic before, I watched endless amountsof my friends die, I held my mother on my lap as she bled to death andthe first person who ever showed me any kindness after my familyturned on me, got her throat slit before my eyes! *

Atticus’ head snaps up at the mention of his mate's death, his eyesfilled with grief but they also hold sympathy. " I know your loss Corinnaand I know if I had the power to bring my love back to me, I would do itwithout a thought, consequences be damned. " He confesses.

"You don't care for him, you never did! Otherwise you would dosomething! " Dahlia roars, her eyes turn pitch black as her fangs extend,Lila moves to place a hand on her arm but she gets shrugged offstraight away.

" Dahlia! " Phoenix shouts. " That's enough. Corinna is grieving too andyou are just being cruel. I understand you want our brother back, I wanthim back too, but it is up to Cori if she is willing to go that far. *

My eyes snap over to Phoenix, sending him a thankful look, only whenmy gaze falls on my son laying in his arms, my heart aches. I want himto know who his dad is.

“I'll do it. " I mutter, never looking away from my son.

" What do you need us to do? " Phoenix questions.

"1 need you to look after my son and give me space. " I say, standing tomy feet, wandering off to gather what I need.

As I wander through the grass beside the lake, my stomach churns andmy body feels as though it is being weighed down with each step Itake.

Tears rapidly pool in my eyes as I reach the spot that Kai was murdered,taking a breath, I try to calm my overwhelming emotions as I placethree small stone bowls in the shape of a triangle around the place ofhis death.

With shaking hands, I gather a handful of dirt from the ground, fillingthe first bowl with it. * Earth. " I mumble.

Moving over to the next bowl, I crouch down, holding my palm over itmuttering in Latin until a flame ignites, contained to the bowl. * Fire. "The flame continues to burn bright as I move around to the next bowl,looking toward the lake, I hold my hand out, chanting softly as a smallamount of the water lifts from the lake and fills the bowl. " Water. *Standing to my feet again, I take a few steps backward from thetriangle surrounded by the three elements. Forcing myself to push mygrief and tears away, I turn my palms up to the sky as I being to chant.The wind whips through the air aggressively, until it forms a miniaturetornado inside the triangle in front of me, the ashes belonging to mymate lift from the forest floor twisting and swirling around in the wind.Blood gushes from my nose and my mouth as the ashes being to forminto a clear silhouette, I choke on the blood as I chant but I force myselfto keep going regardless.

My chanting turn into struggled chokes of words and coughs due tothe blood pouring from my body, by now the figure in front of melooks like a mummy without the wrapping but is slowly forming intosomething more.

My legs give out from under me, I drop to my knees, weakly chantingthrough my coughing fits. I feel any energy within me quickly begin tofade, but just as I think I might have to stop, the figure fully forms intomy mate, who now stands completely bare inside the triangle with ablank look on his face as he scans his surroundings.

Leaning over onto my hands and knees, no longer choking on my ownblood, I gasp for breath, finally able to properly breathe in the airaround me.

Shakily I bring myself back to my feet, looking at my blurry vision of Kaistanding before me with pitch black vein covered eyes and extendedfangs, confusion pulses through me.

" Kai? " I call, hoping to see this gorgeous blue eyes that I so admire,only when his eyes snap to mine, they remain black.

Out of nowhere, Kai lunges toward me, sinking his fangs into my neck.A loud, strangled and pained scream releases from my throat as Istruggle against him, trying to use my gifts only to replace that I am tooweak to do so.

" Please, Kai. " I choke out, tears rushing down my cheeks. * Stop this. *My words are only answers with him growling hungrily and feeding onme more furiously, draining the life from me with each mouthful of myblood that he drinks.

My hands uselessly brush against his body, in a pathetic attempt topush him away from me as my heart beat slows and continues to do soas the seconds pass. My body falls slack against his as he drains the lastbit of life from me, until finally my heart stops completely.
